All these quotes are great, I've enjoyed reading them so much. I went looking for a couple of my favourites, all from books. (Oops. Except one ) These are by no means all of them, I tried to leave ones out that I'd seen repeatedly, such as those from LOTR.. (love Sam ) But here are a couple.

Humans do have a knack for choosing precisely those things which are worst for them.

Whew. That was a lot of Harry Potter.

And while I was talking, the idea of actually losing Peeta hit me again and I realized how much I don't want him to die. And it's not about the sponsors. And it's not about what will happen when we get home. And it's not just that I don't want to be alone. It's him. I do not want to lose the boy with the bread.

'Your family needs you, Katniss,' Peeta says. My family. My mother. My sister. And my pretend cousin Gale. But Peeta's intention is clear. That Gale really is my family, or will be one day, if I live. I'll marry him. So Peeta's giving me his life and Gale at the same time. To let me know I shouldn't ever have doubts about it. Everything. That's what Peeta wants me to take from him. . . .
'No one really needs me,' he says, and there's no self pity in his voice. It's true his family doesn't need him. They will mourn him, as will a handful of friends. But they will get on. Even Haymitch, with the help of a lot of white liquor, will get on. I realize only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me.

And afterwards, we'd go get ice cream at Fenton's. I always get chocolate and he gets butter brickle. Then we sit on this one curb right outside, and I'd count all the blue cars and he counts all the red ones, and whoever gets the most, wins.
I liked that curb.
It might sound boring, but I think the boring stuff is the stuff I remember the most.

I just saw this movie recently, and I love that.

And just one Narnia one.. although, let me assure you, there are many many more.

I think I'll leave it there for now, although I could add on more.

Speaking of Bridge To Terabithia, I really love this part of the book.

He thought about it all day, how before Leslie came, he had been a nothing – a stupid, weird little kid who drew funny pictures and chased around a cow field trying to act big- trying to hide a whole mob of foolish little fears running riot inside his gut. It was Leslie who had taken him from the cow pasture into Terabithia and turned him into a king. He had thought that was it. Wasn’t king the best you could be? Now it occurred to him that perhaps Terabithia was like a castle where you came to be knighted. After you stayed for a while and grew strong you had to move on. For hadn’t Leslie, even in Terabithia, tried to push back the walls of his mind and make him see beyond to the shining world – huge and terrible and beautiful and very fragile?

Now it was time for him to move out. She wasn’t there, so he must go for both of them. It was up to him to pay back to the world in beauty and caring what Leslie had loaned him in vision and strength.
As for the terrors ahead – for he did not fool himself that they were all behind him – well, you could just have to stand up to your fear and not let it squeeze you white. Right, Leslie?

Right.

Is that in the book as well? I forget.

My favourite quote of all time would be by Ruth E Renkel "Never fear shadows, they simply mean there's a light shining somewhere near by". I just think it's a very uplifting sentiment.

Some others that I think are pretty cool: Jean-Paul Satre "3 o'clock is always too late or too early for anything you want to do". Purely because I find it's soooo true.

Douglas MacArthur "We are not retreating - we are advancing in another direction". Is that not the most optimistic spin on things you've ever heard?

And the wonderful Douglas Adams "It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes". Truer words were never spoken.
