Just how close can I get Lord/To my surrender/Without losing all control?

Casting Crowns "Somewhere in the Middle"
I love that, because I listen to people talk about 'surrendering to God', but I don't want to quite surrender.
And I do love that quote from To Kill a Mockingbird. It's so true, and so ignored, often, in the modern world. And Atticus is an awesome character.
There's also the quote in my sig, of course, and then there is this one from Till We Have Faces, about the possessiveness of love:

You are indeed teaching me about kinds of love I did not know. It is like looking into a deep pit. I am not sure whether I like your kind better than hatred. Oh, Orual--to take my love for you, because you know that it goes down to my very roots and cannot be diminished by any other newer love, and then to make of it a tool, a weapon, a thing of policy and mastery, an instrument of torture--I begin to think I never knew you. Whatever comes after, something that was between us dies here.

Psyche.

There have been men before now who got so interested in proving the existence of God that they came to care nothing for God Himself...as if the Good Lord had nothing to do but exist! There have been some who were so occupied spreading Christianity that they never gave a thought to Christ.

C.S Lewis, The Great Divorce
And another on the same topic:

We must not become so engrossed in the work of the Lord that we forget the Lord of the work

My favorite has to be CS Lewis's quotes. One being:

"Has this world been so kind to you that you must leave with regret? There are better things ahead then any we leave behind."

Reminds me of Susan a lot.
