But tis' strange;
And oftentimes, to win us our harm,
The instruments of darkness tell us truths,
Win us with honest trifles, to betray us

I know I'm going to terribly mangle this ...but I'm looking for a quote with something like:
"your sins, I can forgive them, all of them " (might also have "I am life"). Obviously words of Jesus, but can't even make a guess as to source. Could be Mere Christianity, could be a dozen of other sources by CSL.
After changing terms & searching more on the www, I finally found it.
"What are we to make of Christ?" There is no question of what we can make of Him, it is entirely a question of what He intends to make of us. You must accept or reject the story.
The things He says are very different from what any other teacher has said, Others say, "this is the truth about the Universe. This is the way you ought to go," but He says, "I am the Truth, and the Way, and the Life." He says, "No man can reach absolute reality, except through Me. Try to retain your own life and you will be inevitably ruined. Give yourself away and you will be saved." He says, "If you are ashamed of Me, if, when you hear this call, you turn the other way, I also will look the other way when I come again as God without disguise. If anything whatever is keeping you from God and from Me, whatever it is, throw it away. If it is your eye, pull it out. If it is your hand, cut it off. If you put yourself first you will be last. Come to Me everyone who is carrying a heavy load, I will set that right. Your sins, all of them, are wiped out, I can do that. I am Re-birth, I am Life. Eat Me, drink Me, I am your Food. And finally, do not be afraid, I have overcome the whole Universe." That is the issue." (C.S. Lewis, God in The Dock, "What Are We to Make of Jesus Christ?", pg. 160.)

Haha, that's a great one Glenstorm the Great!
I read the LotR books for the first time recently, and Sam was undoubtedly my favorite character. This line of his struck a chord with me, for some reason.
Aw, Sam's great! One of my favorite quotes in the trilogy is his:
"How do I feel?" He cried "Well, I don't know how to say it. I feel, I feel'-- He waved his arms in the air--'I feel like spring after winter, like sun on the leaves; and like trumpets and harps and all the songs I have ever heard!"
I already posted it a little ways back, but I couldn't help but post it again. I just love the sheer joy of it...I don't know, I can't really explain it but I love it. And your quote also reminded me of another good Sam quote, but I couldn't find it maybe it was just me thinking I was remembering something, but here's a quote close to the one I thought of:
"I wish I wasn't the last. I wish old Gandalf was here, or somebody. Why am I left all alone to make up my mind? I'm sure to go wrong. And it's not for me to go taking the Ring, putting myself forward. But you haven't put yourself forward; you've been put forward."
Oh, and Djaq's quotes are hilarious especially the first!
Here are a few other ones I've thought of recently...
"It may be for others to complete what we've begun, but there must be a beginning."
-Stephan Lawhead (I actually haven't read Tuck yet, but this is such a great quote)
"My dear fellow, life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of a man could invent."

I am here trying to prevent people saying the one foolish thing people too often say, "I accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would be a lunatic--on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg--or he would be the Devil of H--. You must make your choice. This man either was (and is) the Son of God or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him for a demon, or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But do not come with any patronizing nonsense about him being a great teacher. He did not leave that open to us. He did not intend to.
