As I did stand my watch upon the hill, I look'd toward Birnam, and anon, methought, The wood began to move.

Love that line from Macbeth, Valiant. Yet it always reminds me of what Tolkien wrote in response, and why he made his trees actually come alive. This is from a footnote in Letter #163 to W. H. Auden (June, 1955):
"[The Ents'] part in the story is due, I think, to my bitter disappointment and disgust from schooldays with the shabby use made in Shakespeare of the coming of "Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill': I longed to devise a setting in which the trees might really march to war."
And he did. Anyway, one of my (many) favourite Tolkien quotes. The difference is that, while he had not much respect for Shakespeare's writings, I do.

Get Smart (TV show)
Agent 99: Oh, Max, how terrible.
Maxwell Smart: He deserved it, 99. He was a Kaos killer.
Agent 99: Sometimes I wonder if we're any better, Max.
Maxwell Smart: What are you talking about, 99? We have to shoot and kill and destroy. We represent everything that's wholesome and good in the world
Agent 99: Sometime I wish you were just an ordinary businessman.
Maxwell Smart: Well, 99, we are what we are. I'm a secret agent, trained to be cold, vicious, and savage. Not enough to be a businessman
Agent 99: Oh Max, you're so brave. You're going to get a medal for this.
Maxwell Smart: There's something more important than medals, 99.
Agent 99: What?
Maxwell Smart: It's after six. I get overtime.

I really like this one thing Tolkien wrote. I don't have the exact quote. But Gandalf said it at the beginning of Fellowship, when he tells Frodo that everyone wishes that they were born at a different time, if we live in times of trouble. But we can only learn to make use of the time we are given.

One of my new favorite quotes is the one in my sig this week, it's the NaNoWriMo maxim.
"The busier you are, the easier it is." I truly believe this. Somehow, it always works for me and not just with NaNo, with school too.
Well, here it is, as best I can remember it. I like it too:
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us
And here is another one I like, from the same conversation:
Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Than do not be too quick to deal out death in justice, fearing for your own safety. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.

This one makes me think of Lewis himself, though its not by him
I can't get past the evidence/I can't get past the proof/I can't get past the evidence/Its impossible to do/You are the reason that I can't deny the truth/I can't get past the evidence of You.
