Elanor: Woah, Jars sounds like Death Cab? I would have to disagree with that. Jars has had a very long (much longer than Death Cab) career and they've gone through a lot of progression in their sound. There is something simplistic and pre-indie about their sound. They are definitely one of the greats in Christian music.
You're definitely free to disagree - I've only listened to Death Cab a few times, and they have only one song that I like. I just really dislike his voice. I think the music itself, of Jars, is a lot different, and I like it a lot better, but his voice at times reminds me of the lead singer of Death Cab, and of times Mike Donehey. So every once in awhile I feel like turning it off.
Oh, and narnian1? I may end up going to that concert when it comes to WI. I'm so excited!!

Elanor,
That's cool! If you do, I hope you have a great time. I need to buy my tickets. I'm surprised I don't have them yet.
I just came back from Soulfest (a Christian music festival) last week and it was awesome! I saw Skillet for the 4th time, Red for the 2nd time, and Switchfoot for the 2nd time! and Switchfoot sang their new song "Dark Horses"! it was epic!
I went to the Red signing line and had to wait and hour to get their signatures and it was totally worth it .....but I don't have a picture of that yet...
but I stood for two hours in the hot sun to meet Switchfoot and that was really worth it and here's a picture of the poster (it's on my wall now, thus the Narnia pictures beside it )

Sound like you had fun Liberty Hoffman,
I like some of Red's stuff, Never Be the Same is my favorite.
Switchfoot's amazing of course. As you can see by my sig I also think Dark Horses is terrific.
You saw RED, Liberty? That's awesome!! My sister is a huge, huge fan of them. I enjoy their calmer stuff (I'm totally and completely in love with Hymn for the Missing. SO beautiful.) Pieces, Confessions (this is my favourite of their harder ones), Shadows, Faceless are the favourites that come to mind. Not Alone makes me want to cry... I really love their deep lyrics.
Apparently I like one Demon Hunter song, under the influence of my sister--Driving Nails into my Soul. It's pretty sounding.

Red is amazing. Definitely one of my favorite bands. I could name a bunch of favorites, but from their new album my favorites are: Hymn for the Missing, Not Alone, Best is Yet to Come and Let it Burn.

I'm really getting to like Evanescence. I absolutely adore the song Lacrymosa, and I like the song Lose Control as well.
How do you pronounce their name, by the way?
~Riella
Evanescence is possibly pronounced as Air-van-ess-sense.
Aslanisbest, I like some of Demon Hunter's stuff. They're not as heavy as I first though (well, compared to something like Underoath).

I'm soooo jealous of you, Libby! Did you get a chance to talk to any of the guys?
Some of my new favorite Switchfoot songs are:
Dark Horses
The War Inside
Restless
Thrive
I know how ignorant I am, for a Switchfoot lover - but is their new album out yet, and if not, when is it scheduled to?

I wish you could have been there!

So out of curiosity, since this is the music thread... Is anyone here going to Lifelight in Sioux Falls, SD?

I have a ratherish broad taste in music. The only two genres that I know that I dislike is Classical and Metal. However, I rarely describe my likes in music by genre, just because I consider the genre boundaries to be so abstract.
Anyway, some of my favorite bands are: Anberlin, Coldplay, Owl City, Lights, Mae, Newsboys, Switchfoot, Relient K, Lecrae, Trip Lee...
I do sometimes like to branch-out, though, and listen to... How should I say it... I guess, more secular bands, such as: One Republic, Justin Bieber, Eminem, and Angels and Airwaves.
And in truth, I really don't mind Justin Bieber all that much. He's got a really good voice and some pretty catchy songs.
And What's up with the hate on Rebecca Black? Her two songs are really not as bad as people make them out to be.
Okay, I'm done. See ya!
