Well, I write mine down, too. I just write the moves first; that's usually enough to help me remember it. Then later I worry about what counts or words that the move coincide with.

I've done some ballroom dancing several years ago. That was enjoyable at times but most of the time frustrating. Whoever decided the guy should lead in the dance is stupid, because the majority of guys are not good at dancing and rather uncoordinated (a gross generalisation but not that far from the truth). Girls on the other-hand seem to take to it more naturally.
I went to a friend's wedding (ceremony and reception) and there was dancing to mainly lounge jazz renditions of popular classics, towards the end. I'm fine with grooving a little to music in the privacy of my own room or house but I'm deathly afraid of dancing in public. I'm so self-conscious (past experiences etc.) and uncoordinated. What I hate is when some 'well meaning' girl decides people (generally guys) sitting at tables should dance too, not realising that not everyone feels comfortable/is intoxicated enough to do so - and that asking them is akin to asking them to sky-dive. It's really, really unpleasant and we single people seem to get the worst of it. And some of them are quite forceful too. So ladies, if you tend to do that to poor guys, please don't. If I wish to dance I will do it of my own accord (and it better be either some good worship songs, group dances or Michael Jackson songs).

Thank you. Seriously, I think it may to some degree have something to do with the fact most girls enjoy it more than guys.
I have had very slight experience with the two-step, and not much more with the waltz. When I got the slight experience with the two step, I ended up with my partner looking at my feet and following me, rather awkward because it made him always off for directing me when to spin. With the waltz, though, I got a great partner who picked up on it very quickly and did a very good job leading.

I have taken Tap Jazz Hip-Hop and dance team but this year I'm only taking Ballet and Character.

Hello fellow dancers!
Well, I take advanced Jazz and advanced ballet. I am on my fourth year of pointe, and I LOVE it. I also teach a contemporary/modern class, as well as hip hop. I got my pointe shoes in 7th grade, and I'm now in year 11.
The funny thing is I cannot tap dance for my life! I either fall over or step on someone else's feet. The same goes for ballroom.
I recently was cast in my schools production of 'The Sleeping Beauty' as the Lilac Fairy (SQUEEEEEEEEE!) We've started rehearsal and it is VERY hard. Principle dancers (myself, Aurora, the Witch and the Prince) do about three hours most nights, and I spend the majority of the time on pointe! I'm going to have to get a new pair soon

^Sounds fun!
In the Missoula Children's Theatre plays I've done, I've had a little bit of dancing but it's not like ballet or anything cool. It's really simple and not very much. It can barely be called dancing.

It really depends on the kind of dancing, I think. There are plenty of types of dancing that I don't have a problem with (some of which I've done), and others that are all bad. Others have good and bad sides, good and bad moves, and you have to be careful how you present them.

Yah, I go to a great christian dance studio and its great to have that type of environment in dance. I love being able not to worry about the type of dance we do. Its all for the glorification of God and thats what makes it so special.
I'm a Narnia freak

Do you know if they object to any form of dance, or just some forms? My mom is always asking me why I don't do more liturgical dance, but she strongly objects to the modern dance moves that can be seen at parties. My brother break dances, but he never tries to learn ballroom dancing because he doesn't think a guy should hold a girl's waist, especially if they aren't related.

High five, littlegriz! I love to dance to our King too.

*recalls many happy memories from when she used to take lessons in a Christian studio* It makes a huge difference, doesn't it?
Yes, it does. My dance teacher is Christian, and she chooses moves and costumes based on that. We've had people whose daughters participated in secular dancing come up to our coach and tell her we looked so pure while we were dancing.
