ILoveFauns, that was random. What are you talking about?

I think ILoveFauns was referring to the color of Australia (note the portion where Warrior 4 Jesus noted that Australia was green, but not color wise).
Germany is certainly one of the cleaner European countries I believe, somewhat by choice, but also because our economy has been stuck in the dark ages for so long! You very rarely see garbage on the side of the streets or on the sidewalks, and because of the narrow streets many people opt to ride bicycles rather than autos anyway.

ILoveFauns, that was random. What are you talking about?
ILoveFauns was talking about the colours of Australia. As we Aussies know, Dorothea MacKellar's poem could be invoked at this point. Actually it is a good poem which sums up a good deal about Australia.
You know the verse that is so resonant...
I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains
Of ragged mountain ranges
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons
I love her jewel seas
Her beauty and her terror,
The wide brown land for me.
Australia, Australia, the wide brown land for me.
My classmates and me used to sing it.
ILoveFauns also was referring to the cars of choice in Australia. Her Dad likes to drive a Ford. It wasn't so long ago when the vehicle of choice was a Holden, I agree. Though even they have had their slip-ups. My eldest proudly drives a Holden Viva, very useful for her, but not the most popular car around. And yes, I still love my ancient Ford Festiva, which is the best car of all when one just wants to get around, get to work and back, do the shopping and find a decent place to park whilst doing so. It is a real pity that there are so many Ford snobs around.

We used to have a Ford but now we have a KIA. I love those little coopers! ( I think that is what they are called) I want the American version.

Sorry, yes, I realise ILoveFauns was talking about her dad's love for Fords. Thanks for clearing up her first point for me.
Lady Lilliandil, yes, Australia can get very hot. I've experienced 48C (just over 118F) but that's extremely rare. Generally in Summer we get several days in a row that are 40C+. It's very unpleasant and hot. But we regularly get 40C+ days scattered throughout Summer.

Yes he loves Fords. He wouldn't let mum or my brother buy a car that wasn't a Ford.
We have a dishwasher at my house, and a dryer. But the dryer is broken, so we line dry everything at the moment. Most people have dryers and dishwashers here.

Wow that's hot! The hottest I have felt where I live is 108F I guess you need tons of sun-screen!

40C? Really? Where abouts in Australia do you live? It's never been that hot where I am. We get mid thirties at the highest, but usually around high twenties.

I live in Adelaide. We have dry heat, it's rarely humid but often very hot during Summer.
Lady Lilliandil, yes, lots of sun-screen, especially since I'm decended from Prussians (before Poland and Germany were separate countries), so I have very pale skin and burn like a lobster in a pot.

Thankfully it never get's that hot in Wisebaden. It's been mid-nineties for a few weeks out of the summer, but most of the time it's seventies. Unfortunately, we do have rediculously cold winters, especially in the northern portions bordering Austria and near Switzerland. I love the snow though, but I HATE black ice.

Ok I have a Question for anyone who lives in Europe!
The last time I went to Slovakia most people did not have dishwashers or dryers or garbage disposals. Is it like that any where else or do most people have that now?
I'm from Russia and we don't have a dishwasher, a dryer or garbage disposals
We never needed a dishwasher, with six kids there are always plenty of hands to help. There may be people here who have dishwashers, but on the most part people don't have them, at least I've never seen one in anyone's home. Actually the first time I saw a dishwasher (which was in a movie) I was so shocked that a machine like that existed and couldn't help but think what an unneeded luxury, you miss out on the fun of washing dishes (my younger sisters and I had a passion for dishwashing when we were young)
we had a clothes dryer once upon a time, someone gave it to us, but it kept breaking and so finally we threw it away, we get along with drying our clothes the old fashion way
as for garbage disposals....I never knew such things existed, just read about them, on Wikipedia and cool things, but I don't know of anyone who has them
Are dishwashers a common thing in America?
always be humble and kind
Are dishwashers a common thing in America?
Very! Everyone has one! I have to wash dishes and they are sooooo helpful! You can put almost anything in it and it grinds it and washes It down the drain. The only bad thing about them is that they sometimes smell and that is not very nice! But there are cleaners for that so its not to much of a deal.
Actually we are getting a new dishwasher put in this weekend! I love those things too! Most people just put the dirty dishes in and it washes it. but ours is awful! So we had to rinse then stick them in. HaHaHa but we could live without it if we had to do it.

Well, not quite everyone, but my parents and I are the only people I know who don't have them.
