I just finished reading Diary of A Wimpy Kid Series but only up to the yellow one. I heard there's a new one, it's colored purple. In my opinion, at first the story is funny, but once you explore more of the books, it gets a bit corny. :|

Thanks for the replies, everyone! and Booky (may I call you that like the others do? :) ), I, as a dramatic-heart like- -no- LOVE the drama of our dear movie-Frodo. Ok, so I like the wimp! =)) I think it's so cool...I can't really explain it. But yeah, Sam is super-strong. He's cool. I'll forever be a...yeah, you know. ;)

*feels obligated to read books, plus to see Frodo/Boromir scene one hast seen in movie and which others say is so exciting*

Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, and That Hideous Strength all came in from the library yesterday. :D I'm about halfway through the first and so far I abesolutely love it. Actually at this rate I'll have them finished in 4-6 days, perhaps less, depends on how much of my time is spent reading them versus how much of it is spent reading Narnia (by the way, did you guys know there were actually fireworks in Prince Caspian? It's funny how when you reread the books after you watch the movies you notice the changes more, but you also notice the parts where they stuck to the books more :P )

I think Frodo's weakness in the movie is dramatized. There are many spots where this is abundantly clear but I won't go into them for spoilers' sake. ;)

In my opinion, Frodo is a bit underrated. :p While Sam is definitely the stronger of the two, book or movie, sometimes I wonder how he would react to the ring if (following placed in spoilers, just in case ;;) )

Spoiler
he had been the Ringbearer for a longer period of time than he was.

Sam is so funny, and so devoted. His and Frodo's scenes in both The Two Towers and The Return of the King are enough to make me cry.

I just now realized as well that very little of the story is told from Frodo's perspective, and so I was unable to get to know his character as well as some of the others.

The entire of The Fellowship, or very nearly the entire, is from Frodo's perspective. It's in the second half of TTT and part of RotK (book titles abbreviated) that it switches to Sam's viewpoint.

*notices all the different titles in this thread and realizes that she has read practically none of the titles on this thread* :-o

I'm still working on The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun. It hasn't been one of my favorites amidst my other reading material because I've been finding it hard to follow the narrative.

Of course I am rereading the Chronicles as well. I'm reading them in chronological order, which I've never done before. I rather like the way it goes this way. I've always read them in publication order previously, but I received a new edition with all seven books combined in one for Christmas, and they are in chronological order. Right now I am working through HHB. :)

I love the Space Trilogy, wolfloversk! I didn't like That Hideous Strength too much, but I really did like the previous two. I like Dr. Ransom's character.

I do recall fireworks in Prince Caspian. The movie, even dramatically restructured, still used details from the books!

I might have to start over in the chronological order! I'm lovin' the thought of MN right now!

I can't really read the beginning of LWW to enjoy anymore, as I have read it too much and will read along, mind elsewhere, and have to make myself focus on the story. =))

Actually I'm attempting to reread them in both orders since when I first read them it was horribly out of order (at least I read LB last) Currently I'm on chronological order.

I must say with how much I love Narnia, and how hard I'm finding it to put down The Space Trilogy I should probably read some more books from Lewis, any reccommendations? :)

Lady Galadriel, I know how you feel, I barely recognize any of the books mentioned here and I feel like I'm living under a very heavy and dark rock :P

Yes it is, he wrote them before he wrote Narnia, the first two follow the adventures of Dr. Elwin Ransom (who is a minor character in the third) Unfortunately other than the fact that they're sci fi and that there are Christian parrallels, I can't tell you much more but I'll find the wikipedia links...

*Edit here you go, the individual book articles are linked to within this one:

Thanks, wolfloversk! Will have to check the public library at nearest convenience! C. S. Lewis and sci-fi?? Is Narnia considered sci-fi? :-

The Space Trilogy is science fiction. Narnia is considered high fantasy, I think.

The former focuses on Dr. Ransom's interplanetary adventures. ;)

Lucy of Narnia, Well in my opinion Narnia is definitely fantasy, but it has some sci-fi elements, such as parrallel worlds and such...

Edit I believe the opposite is true of The Space Trilogy (scifi, but fantasy elements) I'll have to finish them before I can say for sure though :P

I checked out some complicated definitions ( #:-s ) of science fiction and high fantasy, which, if you're interested, respectively can be found here and here.

Oh, I get it: sci-fi is out there, but "could" happen, while fantasy is impossible. :)

Wow, I never knew C. S. Lewis wrote sci-fi! *shocked*

Thanks, Lady Galadriel! :D
