My family and I read it together outloud at the dinner table, and we started to read it again before the first movie came out and we went to watch it in theaters.

I think I might have read this comparison once upon a time. Or something similar, anyway.
Woah. Now I am going to have to watch the movie from the imagined perspective of someone who read the original only. Can't wait to have said watcher say "man they changed it" not knowing that Tolkien had been the one to do that change
