[Closed] What movie next?

SC is the most logical choice for the next movie, and I personally hope they do that one next because Puddleglum is among my favorite characters (behind Aslan, Reepicheep and Lucy). One of my favorite moments in CoN is what I call Puddleglum's Creed--the speech he gives the witch. You just can't argue with that marsh wiggle's logic.

Filming "The Silver Chair" next would make the most sense, since it would finish the Caspian trilogy.

Which one after that? "The Horse and His Boy" makes the most sense. And it is my favorite anyway.

After that, then "The Magician's Nephew", and "The Last Battle" at the end.

But honestly, ANY Narnian movie would make me a very happy girl.

SC, because a) Eustace will still be young b)As GlimGlum said it will be easier for the audience to transition away from the Pensevies.
After that HHB because, Anna, Georgie, and Skandlar will be old enough for the parts, but the actors who played them at the end of LWW will still be young enough to play the parts, so the production will get a choice as far how to go, secondly I think it will still allow for some easy transition for the audience away from the characters they know to the ones they don't know. Finnally, although this is a little selfish of me, its my favorite and I don't think I could wait any longer for it.
After that MN, because it has to come before LB and because there will be a tiny bit of transion with Jadis. Then LB and I'm kind of hoping they'll continue on afterword with Swanwhite or Susan or some of the other kings/queens/legends, because it would be cool to have more of a story around those characters than what currenly exists, but they should finnish the "book-movies first" because they have and deserve the top priority.

Will Poulter is already seven years older than his character. Even if they make SC next he’ll still be nearly twice his character's age. If SC is not the next film they’re going to have to find a different actor to play Eustace.i will support SC.

I think SC is the obvious choice for the next film. Then they'll skip right to LB. Yep, no HHB and MN. I think they'll still try to incorporate those plot bits into the movies, they just won't get their own films. HHB could be told in a passing mention during SC (as it is mentioned in the book). MN can be condensed into a short prelude at the beginning of LB.

Yep, no HHB and MN.

Heh, I think I can safely say that MN will definitely be made (provided VDT doesn't crash and burn). All of the top production people have been chomping at the bit to make this movie. HHB, I'm not so sure about. I really think the order of the final films will be SC, MN, HHB, LB.

You're right, it will depend on the bo for VDT more than anything. The studio will determine the fate of the franchise. That said, I'm not sure MN would make a great film on its own. The story is a bit thin, not more than a setup for LB. Making a HHB film would be a mistake from the business side. Only die hard Narnia fans would be interested and they need to make the films for the general public who haven't and probably never will read the books.

I'm not sure if they'll make MN, and if they do, I'm not sure how they'll change it, and if they don't change it, I don't know how they're planning on marketing it.

Let's say that they do make it.

Scenario 1: They Hollywoodize it. Jadis and Aslan have a physical duel, or Jadis and Digory in the garden. Digory and Polly fall in love. They'll end up doing SOMETHING completely crazy, horrific, and ruin the story and movie completely. The fans will hate it and wish that it had never been made at all, but the general public will like it because it's still a fantasy adventure/action movie like they want. Fox/Walden get more money.

Scenario 2: They stick to the book. No epic showdowns, no stupid love stories. Sure, they'll change a few things, they always do, but the plot's the same, the characters are the same, the themes are the same...the fans adore it. Now how are they going to market it? "The Chronicles of Narnia" will be the first words in the title, and after five (presumably) movies already made with those same words in the title, the general public will be expecting another movie like those five: fantasy, adventure, heroic quests, epic battles, swordfighting, duels, and the end of the world. MN has none of these. It would make a really amazing movie, of course, and I would *love* to see it, but fans of the movies and not the books are going to be very disappointed, and I foresee a loss of earnings for Fox/Walden.

Of course, it could turn out completely differently...maybe somehow everyone will be happy, but those are the two most likely scenarios that I can see happening, though probably to a lesser extent than I described. ^_^

Mr Anderson: please don't even speak of Digory and Polly falling in love! that would be awful! :-o
but I do see what you mean about them, if it was made, wanting to Hollywoodize it.....but that would be awful too...... :(( :-s

I voted for Silver Chair.
Although instead of HHB being next after, I would rather the production doing MN after SC so the actors who played the Pevensie's can grow up more and it will a lot of anticipation for audiences to see them so all the Narnia movies can be made and we wont have to worry about them not being made because after that all we have is LB. ;)

It's going to be the Silver Chair, and that's how I'd like it. However, after that, they have to make Magician's Nephew, Horse and His Boy, then the LB. Isn't that the way Lewis wrote the books? Yes, they can't have a movie about the end of the world without having one about its beginning. And Eustace and Jill would be the right ages, right? Weren't they supposed to be grown-ups? So it'd work if they did it that way.

I'm just concerned that FOX will not make Magician's Nephew since it does not have enough nowadays theatrical elements (I.E. Battle, action, romance) Now, it has a glimpse of a battle and a little action in it, but totally not enough.

Remember what Doug Gresham said. He said

Prince Caspian we had to make some fairly major changes because the book isn’t written that way. In this movie there are a lot of differences in it also to, as Hollywood says, “derive the plot”. I’m ambivalent as to whether they’re necessary or not, I don’t really think so. But that's the way they wanted to do it, and it was either that or not make a movie, so I said “well go ahead and do it”. It will be very interesting to see the audiences reactions.

- Douglas Gresham. So I'm concerned that they will either "derive the plot" so much in MN that it makes it a bad movie. Otherwise, I don't think they'll make it.

- The Servant.

.

Not necessarily.

1. There might not be any epic battles and that's because who would really start one when a world was just born? The point is to seclude the witch away from the new Narnian's for a while before Jadis turns Narnia into winter. So a battle will have to be a no no, unless

2. There is plenty of action.
1.
2.

3. As for romance:

Hehe enough said. I hope I helped you 'The Servant' :D

DamselJillPole... great idea of using Frank and Helen to add romance to the MN!

As for what movie I think should be next, I must have been one of the only ones who voted for The Magicians Nephew. Tilda Swinton can't age too much before its filmed. HHB cant be next because they Pevensies wont be old enough to play their parts. Silver Chair will most likely be next but I dont think its such a great idea. I dont think Eustace's aging is justification to filming it first, since Eustace will be in LB anyways. And if you film Silver Chair first, there will be a big age gap for the actor who will be cast as Jill, since HHB and MN will probably be filmed after LB. So ya.. Jill as 12 (example) in SC and then Jill as 18(example) in LB since HHB and MN would be filmed in between. That would be a bit wierd.

I vote for Silver Chair. That would be the best movie to do next, we don't want Will Poulter to be too old. Then I vote MN, HHB, and LB.

I think they will make MN, amybe a few changes, but not that much. It's an interesting book. I can see a little romance between Digs and Polly but I wouldn't mind it as much as Suspian.
