[Closed] What movie next?

Actually Fledge, King Frank, and Queen Helen could easily be left out as well because their meaning is only connected to one book, the MN. Now, let me restate what I have already said. If they do the LB after the SC and don't do HHB and MN and leave out all the characters that were only connected to the MN in the LB no one who hasn't read the books would be any the wiser, that is my point.

There is another point of the story of LB that wouldn't make sense without MN: The rings that Uncle Andrew created. Without the rings, they really have no plan at all in trying to get to Narnia to help Tirian, and that was the whole reason they were on the train/at the train station when the train accident happened.

How about Last Battle and Magician's Nephew released together? That would be neat; "come see the beginning...and end of Narnia" Do you think that would work, or would the movie be too long, or(heaven forebid)be cut short?

In the same movie? Or in they're own separate movies but released really close together? If you mean the former, then yes, it would most definitely either be too long or too many things would be cut. Such a thing would drive us Narnia fans insane and it might make Prince Caspian look like the best book adaptation ever in comparison. ;)

Anyway, SC should definitely be the next movie after VDT because, as others have already said, it's the most logical if we don't need Will Poulter looking too much older. Besides, SC is supposed to happen only a few months after VDT, so Eustace is really not supposed to age very much.

The time and the age of the actors are of some significance, but I think they could do it even with older crew. There must be balance between the adaptations or else there is a huge risk some very important moments and motives to be belittled. From that point of view if two of the movies are released together the main risk is for the public, which is not very familiar with the books. So, I think that SC will be the appropriate choice. :)

I believe Silver Chair should release next for aging and chronology purposes. After that I think should be Last Battle because of Jill and Eustace, even though I think it should be the last one released.

EDIT:

I think the ideal order for all the reasons listed is: SC, MN, HHB, LB.

I think this is the best order also. I don't think MN or HHB should be last because MN is the creation of Narnia while HHB is in the middle. LB would be a wonderful closing to the movie series.

As I'm reading back over this topic, I'm becoming increasingly fearful that they will not make HHB....

I hope the next one is SC!
I really want to see that one made into a movie.....
......but I agree with A_Narnian_Ship that I am afraid that HHB won't be made at this rate..... :-s

It would be very sad, really. Also, they can decide to merge HHB with another movie, but there is a little chance of that, I think.

If they drop a movie, HHB is the one that most likely will go, but at this point I don't think they're planning on dropping any in favor of the other ones. At any rate, I think they'll keep HHB. It offers the most ideal plotline and will be the easiest to adapt I think.

I think they should release the movies in the same order that the books were published. I think Silver Chair is the only story where the aging of the characters is a significant issue, so it should come next (and should be an awesome flick). You want the 4 Pevensies to be older for HHB, they can do all kinds of stuff to make Tilda Swinton look younger in MN, and, why not have the characters be older in LB? It doesn't really effect the plot that much.

Aside from financial reasons, I can see them skipping HHB because of political correct reasons: they might think it would offend people from Middle Eastern cultures.

But they MUST make MN! With all the 1900's period costumes and sets, not to mention the back-story, it could be the best of the series! Plus, how else will the audience know why they speak English in Narnia, and know about Christmas, and eat fish and chips, and drink tea...

It was only the beginning of the true story, which goes on forever, and in which every chapter is better than the one before.

further up and further in, I hadn't thought of that reason for skipping HHB... good point. MN is essential to the story line and I agree, will prob be the best.

The political and the cultural reasons are really a good point about HHP. In this case they can adapt some motives of the storyline in order to avoid the most sensitive cultural aspects. Nerthelessm there will be still some moments, which can't be missed.

Like the majority, I voted for Silver Chair. I think that would be the most logical thing to do, as Will Poulter doesn't need to be much older than he was in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

I guess SC.

1. For the sake of actors' ages.

2. It's a natural progression from Dawn Treader

3. It's a very cinematic, road trip story.

I voted Silver Chair for continuity's sake and all the reasons other people posted above. It's my second favorite book in the series (the first being Dawn Treader) and would be a great movie.

SC because if we wait any longer how old would Will.P/Eustace be?

I think for the actors and their ages SC is important.

I am hoping that they will make HHB sometime, but they have to consider that Will Poulter will grow and get older quickly (much like the Pevensies), so I think that SC is the most logical one to do next..... :)
