For now I am spreading any news of the VDT to all my friends.
Our family runs a youth center and I want to suggest that we take most of the teens to the movie when it comes out

If VDT sucks, I'm not going to give it positive promotion even if it hurts SC's chances of being made. This is Walden's third shot at getting it right. If they screw up VDT, I think it's safe to say that they won't get SC right either.
ditto.
My library is having a party for Eclipse ( ) so I might talk to the librarians about having a VotDT party, but I don't know if they will, since it's not coming out in the Summer and they generally only have parties in the Summer.
If VDT ... not going to give it positive promotion ...
I wont fault you for being blunt, Booky. Meanwhile, back at the ranch. If VDT is not a good movie, we wont need to give it bad press - the box office will take care of it.
Word of mouth can make-or-break it. *repeats self* I will recommend folks go see it. Best I can do. I don't talk about it with the book purists.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
^^ ditto about the book purists.....
luckly, I am not a book purist. I will love this movie no matter what they do in it just like I love PC! I am sure of it! and I will promote it far and wide!

So far, I am spreading the word through my Facebook account...not too many of my friends are Narnia fans...just have you guys!!
"We have nothing if not belief"
well I am a book purist. And, hey, we're not all that bad! I promoted PC...somewhat . But I'm sure hoping that VotDT is closer to the book. I'm fine if they add or take a little here and there (like LWW) but if it's another travesty like PC, I won't promote it so much. I'm not going to shine a positive light on a horrible film. And like Booky said, if they don't get VotDT right, they probably won't get any other of the movies right. So why would we support them just so they can keep on butchering the stories in more movies?
^^ it depends on how you look at it. and Mark Johnson was quoted saying that he and some others regretted some of what went on with PC and they don't want to make that mistake again. so I think this one is going to be the best yet! FURTHER UP AND FURTHER IN!

^^it has the potential to be the best. And I'm certainly hoping that it will be. But I'm not counting on it. To many things are making me worried already. So, we will see.
In my circle of friends, going to the movies is frowned upon. My family and I rarely go to the theater, the only times being to see: Two Towers, Return of the King, LWW, Expelled, and PC twice. So I will help VDT by going with my sister to see the 3D version, then going with my family to see the 2D version.
Psalm 37:25 "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
I want to see it at least three times in theaters. when LWW first came out, I saw it twice. when PC first came out, I saw it twice. so three or four times for VotDT would be awesome!

I think everyone needs to remember why C.S. wrote these stories... It wasnt so one day he could see them turned into blockbuster movies that stick religously close to the books... but it was so ppl could enjoy them, learn from them, and hopefully come to know God through them... i know ppl that have achieved this through his writings,,, and wether or not the movie is miles from the book, (PC) there are still important themes and truths in the film... and i think that is far more important than sticking to everyword of the book... wether VDT sticks to the book or not, we shld support it, because these are some of the very few respectable, clean, family friendly movies around these days, and they are worth supporting just for that if nothin else!
In the grand scheme MOVIES ARE NOT IMPORTANT, people are important, Love one another and treat eachother how we would like to be treated ourselves!
Amen to that!
Why do people build up this straw man of the crazed book purist who will hate the movies if they differ in one word from the books? It isn't even slightly accurate. I'm not that way and even gP isn't that bad. I loved the LotR movies, which deviated highly from the books, because they were made by people who cared about the story and captured the spirit of the book even if the details were off in places. Quite frankly, the Narnia movies have failed in that respect. They've been highly generic fantasy movies with much of the religious aspects and deity of Aslan diluted or removed.

Amen, Brother! Sometimes we can get so close to an object that every minor flaw becomes a glaring eyesore and we need to step back to see the beauty of the big picture. That is not to say that we should excuse the major flaws in the movies. We should do our part in trying to hold the filmmakers to a high standard but not try to kill the franchise because we weren't personally thrilled with it.

I have been spreading the word about VDT to people I know. I am willing to give the filmmakers a chance to closely follow the story this time, but if it is "rewritten" like PC, I am not going to be interested in supporting SC. Why look at this set of books (like the CoN), say, "Oh, we should make a bunch of movies out of this series!" and then rewrite every story because it was "not good cinematic material"? It may still be a good movie, and I may be able to enjoy it, but it would not be Narnia for me.
