Not a sea nymph a sea girl unless there is no difference in the film.
Point taken.
EDIT: They've updated that page and it says that Lucy sees a sea nymph from the side of the ship, so they may not be in Narrowhaven at all.

Please understand me that i am well aware of the insanity of this theory, but Susan and Caspian kissed so i don't particularly believe that insanity is off the table.
There is darkness and there are lost souls though hopefully those are just kidnapped slaves. We will see.

I'm not sure if the nymphs will be important. I just think Apted and his team wanted to get more creatures into this film but they couldn't fit any more on the boat, so they decided to bring in the ones that live in the water. I think there will only be one scene with the nymphs, and then we won't see them again.
I personally missed having naiads in LWW and was pleasantly surprised by seeing the nymph in the trailer for VDT. Other people called them sea people or unfinished CG mermaids, but I still held out hope.
Stars have physical bodies. Flower clouds and water puddles don't. The point is, in the books naiads and dryads were proper humanoid creatures, not vague "Omigosh! That's so kewl!" special effects bundles.
Evidently stars in Narnia are able to transform from a more spiritual/fluid form into a human form. Perhaps nymphs and dryads are able to do the same?
(pause)
OK, you're right. The whole thing sounds stupid. Narnian stars are supposed to be physical humanoids and so are nymphs and dryads.
But I do like the design of the dryads and nymphs in these movies, unfortunately. And, honestly, I think it might be possible for these creatures to have human offspring. It is a magical country after all. Maybe the babies don't become fully human until after birth?

So you guys are all saying that these water nymphs are the same as a sea girl? I wish we knew more.

^^ I'm not. I think that water nymphs are different from sea girls.....unless I'm wrong and they are the same.....

I think in the book they are different so i have always assumed they were different in the film. I guess we don't know that though.

Personally, I just think the Water Nymphs appear on the Narrowhaven page because there is/will not be enought room for them anywhere else as more islands become available. I honestly don't think that the Water Nymphs are meant to replace the Sea People, and I think that they will be able to help the crew of the Dawn Treader, but will not in any way be related to the island of Narrowhaven.

I am almost sure this is the case because they've rewritten what it says when you click on it.

I'm sure that Mermaids are different from Sea People and that they both are different from Water Nymphs. I'm also pretty sure that Nymphs and Naiads are different creatures, but I'm not sure how. That would be a great question for the Narnia and Mythology thread. Are there any mythology scholars out there who know the answer?
Movie Aristotle, AKA Risto
Nope, naiads are a type of nymph, just as like dryads. Nymph refers to the whole group of minor nature goddesses. Dryads, naiads, oceanids, etc. are just the nymph sub-groups.
I suspect the sea people have been axed in favor of these water nymphs. Probably that's what Lucy was waving at.
So I suppose "Water Nymph" isn't redundant then? So would these nymphs technically be oceanids then since they are in the sea?
I have several theories about the sea people; one of them is that they were axed in favor of the water nymphs because they would be easier to put in a childrens film. If I recall correctly, the sea people weren't entirely clothed...
Movie Aristotle, AKA Risto
Yeah, they would be oceanids rather than naiads.
Didn't think about the nudity aspect of the sea people. Still, they could have just put clothes on them. It wouldn't be that big a deal. Disney did it with The Little Mermaid.
I don't think nudity would be a big enough problem for them to create entirely new creatures...(ex. Sea People to Water Nymphs), but who knows? Maybe Walden or Fox found the Water Nymphs more beneficial to the story...?

Maybe this is the extent of the water nymphs. Lucy just waves at them.

Hey, if there are water nymphs that could be a good thing. Maybe that means we haven't seen the sea people yet. But at the same time why do they need water nymphs?
