I didn't think much of it; My sister and I agreed that the 3D was pretty much the very same as the 2D, except for a few shots here and there. Now, I don't know much about 3D, but I was left underwhelmed. Then again, I never liked 3D, so I'd probably be underwhelmed anyways.
I wonder, what will that mean for the DVD? Are the DVDs released in 3D, too? (told you I didn't know anything about 3D ).
And I, too, kept my glasses.
The 2D version isn't an inferior film visually speaking, but I did like the 3D enhancements. Unlike a lot of people in this thread, I thought the 3D in the England section was nice. A shelf on Eustace's wall especially popped out at me (no pun intended). It is the magic of Narnia, however, that makes the 3D worth it. I agree that the water nymphs were a treat to watch in 3D, as was Liliandil and her stardust, but there were lots of little moments that sold me on the 3D: The breath coming from the invisable Dufflepuds, the absolute clarity of depth in the underwater shot of Restimar, the beauty of seeing the Dawn Treader sailing on the sea. These are effects worth seeing in 3D at least once in your life.
And although I'm ashamed to admit it, I did in fact jump a couple of times while viewing the sea serpent strike in 3D. What fun! I agree that the Dark Island sequence is amazing in 3D.
Movie Aristotle, AKA Risto
I loved it... thought there was nothing wrong with it.
And wow.. Buncha thiefs on here
I have seen it twice in 3D and now for the first time in 2D.
I don't really have any intense thoughts about it either way, but I did notice the details of the ship were much easier to study in 2D. This is a plus as I really do love the look of the Dawn Treader.
I saw it in 3D and I didn't like the effect. It distracted me from the rest of the film. That might have been because it was the first 3D movie I had seen in theaters so I wasn't used to it at all. But I really want to watch it in 2D now and see if I can "get into" the story more than I did watching it in 3D.

I've seen quite a lot movies in 3D so far and I think VDT has been done the best. Narnia has been totally amazing.
Although, my favorite scene are probably going to be the ending titles. I liked that they'd used the illustrations from the book and it was very wel converted into 3D.

@ Edmundsdefender: Yes, you were definitely NOT used to 3D. Personally, I found the 3D to be bad because it was about as two dimensional as 3D can get (it was even worse than Alice in Wonderland in my opinion). The 3D was not distracting in my opinion, but was an utterly useless function.

I have seen the movie four times now, once in 3D and the other three times in 2D. For me, the 3D was about average. I will note however, that there were a couple of scenes that looked great in 3D, which some people have already mentioned. Was it worth seeing it in 3D? I would say yes, only because the extra money I spent supported the franscise. Do I care to see it in 3D again? I don't think so, and I actually prefer to see it in 2D anyways. That's just me though. I can't wait to go see the movie for a fifth time!
I thought the 3D was okay. In my opinion it wasn't anything special, but it wasn't really bad either. I want to see it in 2D just to compare them (one of my many excuses to go see it again )
Avatar and Signature by lover of narnia Thank you!
I thought the 3D added absolutely nothing to the movie. It was barely noticeable. If you haven't seen VDT yet, and you have a choice between 2D and 3D, don't waste your money. Go see the 2D version.
That being said, the movie in general is visually gorgeous and a thrilling adventure. While the 3D effects were no improvement, they also weren't a detraction or distraction. So those of you who don't have 2D in your local theatres, go ahead and see the 3D. You don't want to miss this delightful film.
I saw in 3D first and personaly, I barely even noticed. The effect was rarely outstanding, some shots were particularly well done, and they looked very good in 3D, but certainly the film doesn't look significantly diferent without the effect. At the very least it does'nt look outright flat. I would say it was decent.

I just want to be hidden in the shadows... this silence; this cold.
That might have been because it was the first 3D movie I had seen in theaters so I wasn't used to it at all.
Yeah, this was my first 3-D movie, too.
I don't think Narnia needed to be 3-dimensional. The setting was gorgeous enough as it was; there was no extraordinary effect. The 3-D glasses got annoying but you had to keep them on the whole time to properly see the screen. Unfortunately the 2-D showings have all closed where I live so I won't get to see it 2-D til the time the DVD comes out... I bet it'd look really nice on BluRay.
I dared to set foot in the theater yesterday to watch it in 3D. The last theatrical 3D movie I attended was Spy Kids 3D. I usually avoid 3D movies because I am motion sensitive. I was able to handle it quite a bit better than I thought I would. It was as if it gave the film an added layer of depth and you were in the room with them. I don't know if it is because I've seen the movie already and I knew where I'd have problems ahead of time so I was ready, I had just seen two movies in blu ray and the movement was similar to blu ray, or if it was the difference in technology (I hated those red and blue glasses) that made the difference. I would expect it's a combo of all three.
One thing I didn't like then and I see it hasn't changed much is the fact that 3D saps the color intensity of 2D. I'm not crazy about that. After seeing the incredible color in the sunrise/sunset scenes in 2D, I really noticed the lack of it in 3D.
Aslan was spectacular in 3D. Gave the end of the movie a bit more of an emotional punch with his face coming out of the screen. The descent of the blue star was much more impressive in 3D as well. Not just a blue ball. The ship was also very nice in 3D.
I am looking forward to seeing it on blu ray.
The 3D was pretty good, but like a lot of other movies, you couldnt really tell it was there... it just made it easier to see what was in front of what... nothing really jumped out at me (other than the sea serpent battle, and the one shot of Dragon Eustace after Reepicheep stabs his hand and he falls from the mast and flies towards the camera).

I voted for "average". I saw it twice, first in 3D then in 2D. I think the 3D effects were not that great and to be honest, I even liked the 2D version a little bit better. I had the impression that the fighting scenes were somehow blurry (and the sea serpent itself ) and my friends were under the same impression. On the other hand, Aslan and the final scenes looked great in 3D. But overall, I was pretty disappointed by the effects.
