If you ditch the 'This Christmas...' line I think your idea works really well. It's simple but it conveys what the book's all about.

Doctor Who - Season 11
I really like that idea, NL101. Think about it. A fast-paced, colorful, action-packed trailer that suddenly fades to black. A haunting tune begins to play as the black fades to reveal the Dawn Treader speeding into the sunrise, and then the final shot shows Reepicheep paddling away into the bright light that brightens until the whole screen turns white, and then we see the logo. It would be beautiful, strangely eerie, and very, very cool.
Something I was thinking about the other day:
Tagline:
This Christmas...
Where sky and water meet...
You shall find all you seek...
There in the utter east...
(This would have to be followed by some shot of the water against an amazing sunset or perhaps Reepicheep paddling away in his coracle)
^ This. Using lines from the poem, with scenes in between, is the best idea I have heard yet.
The trailer must show the "wall of water" and the silver sea...if the VFX are done properly, these shots will grab attention.
, Narnia Going Green, lol.
The Wall of Water has to be there, it'll be fantastic. I really like narnia101's idea for using the peom, but using "This christmas" would be weird since this takes place in like, what, narnia summer or spring? Even if it does come out in december. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good, but it would be a little weird.
Beren- you mean they won't put a few 2 second clips? I didn't want them to advertise the movies LWW and PC, I thought it would just be nice if the trailer showed that to let people know that it's a whatever-you-call-the-sequel-of-the-sequel ( )
If they put the prophecy the Dryad told Reepicheep,
"Where sky and waters meet,
Where the waves grow sweet,
Doubt not Reepicheep,
There is the utter East," to a melody, then perhaps added some instruments, kind of like the one in the BBC version and played that as he rows away in his coracle like Gymfan said, that would be beautiful.
Just change it to "This December" instead of Christmas. December doesn't scream winter movie the way Christmas does.
My idea was almost exactly like NL101's, with a few differences. Take out the "This Christmas" 'cause it's not a Christmas movie. And now put in the entire thing. And have a feminine voice say it, so it sounds like a Dryad. If it sounds sort of like Galadriel's voice in the prologue of Fellowship, I think that would be about the right pitch.
"Where sky and water meet"
(shot of the water wall at the edge of the world)
"Where the waves grow sweet"
(shot of the Dawn Treader sailing through the lilies)
"Doubt not, Reepicheep"
(shot of Reep standing behind the dragon's head like in that one illustration in the book. a gentle breeze could ruffle his fur)
"To find all you seek"
(shot of Lucy, Edmund, Caspian, and Eustace joining Reep and a behind the shoulder shot of them looking out to the sunrise)
"There, is the utter East"
(back to the water wall, only this time move up it and see the mountains behind the sun, great set up for the next movie)
And then there could be random shots from the rest of the movie. I agree, Eustace crying would be a good one. Another could be the M.L.G. jumping off the ship. Random shots of pitched battles even if we don't like them..........The picture coming to life. And then Aslan roaring. He does roar in the book, in the magician's book when Lucy wants to read the beauty spell, Aslan's face appears in the middle of the words and she can't hear him, but she knows he is roaring. Just add sound to that and it could look really cool.
As for music, keep it simple. A high-pitched wind instrument like a flute during Reep's prophecy, and then some string instruments could join in with Eustace and Gael, and then trumpets or some such thing during the battle bits, and then drums could start pounding when the picture comes to life, and then all we would hear is Aslan's roar and then climax the music(sorry, I'm not a musician, so I really don't know all the technical terms). And then the logo, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. And end it with "Join the adventure this December" (not a very good line, I'll try to come up with a better one)
Edit: Woa, I just looked at how long that was.
Nice! I like the female voice... i hadn't thought of that! I think there should be a shot of them going into the painting though... maybe them getting kidnapped by pug or some roughing from the govener for suspense.
I saw the movie....and was disappointed

Wow, I got goosebumps on that last bit with the magician. (No, seriously, I did!) A few technical corrections though: Fox is producing, not Disney. And It's being released in December 2010, not next summer. We would all love for it to come out sooner, but it's not. And, just out of curiosity, did you intentionally not do all of Reep's rhyme?
Thanks for the corrections. What happened was this trailer was written months ago when the movie was being distributed by Fox and was coming out in may. I just forgot to change them...
And yes, i thought omitting Reep's name would be more effective as it would make it more generic and less specific. Does that make sense?

BUT ON THEIR WAY THEY WILL ENCOUNTER MANY DANGERS
(Quick flashes of the DT rocking wildly back and forth in the storm, the dragon landing on the mast, Pug and his kidnappers leaping on them in the Lone Islands, perhaps something on the Dark Island, and a few scenes of sword-fights.)
Chief Voice: (as they stand on the beach) And if you do not submit it will be our painful duty to cut all your throats.
(Lucy stares all about the hallway in the magician's house)
THIS DECEMBER...
THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER
(Sorry this didn't include Gael or more of Reep. But if this were an official trailer, they could always do more than one.)
