[Closed] The Picture in the Bedroom

I've never actually thought about what the transition through the picture would look like.....
But I had a related thought. I think it would be cool if, when Eustace rushes to the side of the ship hoping to "see the picture frame and maybe a glimpse of Lucy's bedroom," you actually see the frame and the bedroom, and then it fades and disappears.

Did you ever wonder where that picture came from?

The picture was a wedding present to Aunt Alberta(Eustace's mom) and she put it in the spare bedroom because she didn't like it but she didn't want to throw it away and offend the giver.

I have sometimes wondered where the giver got it from. Is it a Narnian painting, somehow moved into our world? Or is it a painting in our world, painted by someone who had been to Narnia and seen Caspian's ship? If so, the timeline must have made "a wrinkle in time" to say the very least, since the present must have been given before the Pevensies entered the wardrobe.

Lewis is silent about it, but if asked, maybe he would have said that some artist had divine inspiration?

But it would be a good topic for fanfiction ...

I think it would be really difficult to follow the book when it comes to this scene without it looking pretty rubbish, or just cheesey. :)

I really like the idea that people are coming up with about the room filling with water. That would look great on screen I think, plus it's a little bit more 'physical' then being sucked into the picture, if you see what I mean - probably more interesting to watch.

I reckon it could be cool if, when Edmund, Lucy and Eustace rise to the surface of the ocean, you could just see a picture frame floating in the water beside them, or something similar.

Yes, I like the general idea that is going around: the room actually fills with water. However, in that idea the water starts to pore from the picture... right? The reason I ask this is because, if it doesn't, then the picture isn't the portal to Narnia anymore; the room is the portal to Narnia. I'm not saying that is a bad idea. What I am saying is that we should stop and think for a moment, "What is the real portal to Narnia, the picture or the room?"

Watziznehm,

I know what you mean - if the room just started randomly filling up with water, it'd be a tad weird. In my head the water definitely starts pouring from the picture.

I think this and the "Prince Caspian" 'portal' at the train station are the two trickiest one's to get right.

Check out the new Production Blog on the Facebook page; it gives a short description of how this scene unfolds. The description is right in line with what has been discussed here, and what was originally posted by Salem.

I look forward to seeing waves crashing into the bedroom, then water pouring out to fill it! So dramatic - in line with the way the Tube station transition to the beach enthralled us in PC. :)

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.
