Yes i think your right Aravan, they actually played the music from PC in LWW, but the music in VDT was really unrecognizable.

Hmmmmm... I think a better word is "disconnected". Like Harry Potter. The soundtracks are entropy incarnate, losing the original themes, losing any thematic elements to the score, and eventually becoming generic. I don't want that for Narnia.

I have both PC and LWW soundtracks and I was really dissapointed by the VDT soundtrack. I know it wasn't the same composer but the music is so much of what Narnia is for me. It sets the mood and tells you how to feel and when something's about to happen etc. One of my favorite things about the first two albums is that they had sort of a similiar theme throughout them and I was very dissapointed to find out that it was not in the Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It just wasn't the same Narnia for me.

Hi Everyone!
Okay, a while ago, I'm not sure when, I noticed another little "reference" you might say to the old Narnia theme in the VDT Soundtrack. It's in "Golden Cavern" and listen from the beginning, but especially at 038...It's really cool!
I bet you've all heard the reference in Time to Go Home from 054...
Just thought you all might be interested.

I think VDT soundtrack is nice but not as wonderful as LWW and PC. I love LWW soundtrack the most. LWW makes me feel like I'm full of joy and pride. Like I'm in Narnia.
I didn't like the VDT soundtrack track by track. I mean, I liked the sound in when Lucy sees her vision like Susan, when she talks to Aslan through the mirror, when Eustace shows "I am Eustace" writing to Edmund, when Edmund and Caspian has a duel etc. I can make it a bit more but I didn't like the whole tracks. Except the Opening Titles. I like the whole track. I reallt wanted to hear the Narnia theme more but it made me disappointed about it. Maybe I can love this soundtrack as much as I love the others sometime. I used to dislike PC soundtrack but now I really love it.
Hope I could explain myself. My English isn't very good.

Overall my favorite soundtrack is still PC's it seems to draw you in imediately and it's pretty epic (would use a different word, but I can't think of it) I think. The usage of deeper tones are really my favorite parts about it LWW would be second, it has a nice magical feel, yet its not out of touch with reality. VDT is pretty good, it took some getting used to as Arnold's and Williams' style are so much different, but for something lighter and upbeat it works well

I really like the sound track Evacuating London in LWW when the train is driving through England. It sounds so triumphant!

I loathe music. It is distracting and a waste of resources.

Well. Bookwyrm shall certainly NOT have the last say about this!
As a music teacher I of course love music. When music is well composed, it really helps telling the story in a film. Especially emotions. Where words and pictures can't express more, music continues.
I liked the music in the first two Narnia films. For some reason I love Mr. Tumnus' little flute theme. And in PC I especially like the music for the attack on the castle, Reepicheep's muted trompet theme. Very well composed.
The music for VDT was a disappointment for me. It was ok, but absolutely forgetable. A shame. Better music would surely have carried the film to a higher level. The film had deserved better, in my opinion.

You know, I think Gregson-Williams made a very bad choice when he directly copied LWW's tracks and pasted them in PC's. But despite this, I find that the new music and the remixes of the old music were MUCH bigger, grander. More... epic is the best word I can think of. For instance, the second half of "Battle At Aslan's How" is actually the second half of "The Battle", but the various instruments have either been remixed or they rerecorded the piece. The resulting sound is much grander and more heroic (the choir is much more dominant). This is essentially how all of the songs on the soundtrack are.

The music for the first two films was absolutely incredible. You noticed it when you were watching the film and it added wonderfully to the overall movie- Harry Gregson-Williams really captured Narnia and made something really special in my opinion.
I don't particularly like VDT's soundtrack. It's just not memorable- I didn't feel it contribute to the film and it just kind of faded into the background. It also didn't feel like Narnia to me, not like the first two films. It was good music, but it didn't evoke the same feelings and atmosphere like Gregson-Williams' music did...I don't really think it did Narnia justice.

I agree moo25, I like the VDT sound track and I'll probably buy it (Because I havn't yet ) But I really prefer LWW and PC because they are such beautiful pieces of music that can be listened to as music, not as a soundtrack, and they do a woderfull job of convaying the emotions of characters, and describing the mood of a scene without saying anything.
Plus, the end music was always a favourite bit for me and I was upset when theres a place for us was not included.
Narnia is childhood...
