I'm suprised that the reviewers (the rotten ones at least) don't like Will Poulter as Eustace. They say he is unlikable...but thats the whole point! I would have thought they would praise him, if only him.
That's kind of how I felt about the reviews that came in after PC came out. "This movie has lost its magic." Well.. .yeah... that's the point.
That's because they don't seem to have read the source material, at least one of them actually admitted it- I applaud him for that.
"The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly." -John Muir
"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." -Richard Adams, Watership Down
Unn, why are all the positive reviews for VDT not being posted on RT? Is it a conspiracy against the movie? Finding them on Google is easy enough.
No, it's because they aren't approved RottenTomato critics. In order to be used for the Tomatometer, you must be on RottenTomato's official list of critics. That way the vote can't get skewed by people who have no credibility as a movie reviewer.
Wow this one seems to be bouncing around alot. It's down to 59 %. Which is considered rotten. As for top critics, it sits at 2 rotten, 1 fresh. Tod Mcarthy's review worries me the most because he reviewed the other 2 movies fresh, so he definitely isn't biased, or afraid to give a Narnia movie a good rating. The other top critic seems like a newer one. He has only has a history of 20 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The fresh top critic didn't review the other moview on Rotten Tomatoes either. One thing is for sure. We can probabely expect the top critics to not like this movie. It's going to be close. Peter Travers of Rolling Stone didn't like either of the other 2 movies, so i'm sure this one will be rotten for him. It will be interesting if any of the critics go from rotten to fresh.
Meh...
James Berardinelli, another top critic on RT, gave VODT the 'weak' rating of two out of four stars. He enjoyed the previous two having given both LWW and PC an 'average' rating of three out of four stars.

Lot of mixed opinions as the film keeps teetering back and forth on the fresh and rotten side of the scale.
"Now we shall take the adventure that Aslan has given to us!"
Stupid question, could someone remind me real fast what the number is for it to be considered fresh? Is it 65%?

It's 60%
Anything below is rotten, anything 60 and above is fresh.
"Now we shall take the adventure that Aslan has given to us!"
I'm suprised about the negative reviews considering that the reviews released before the film were all positive.

That's because the critics are not fans of the book.
Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

Yeah, most of the critics who don't like the film say that they don't feel a real purpose for going on the voyage. Some also said that it is too episodic. Those are really two main parts of the book, so those criticisms don't worry much. However, it worries me how the public will react to the movie.
Lets go SC!
Don't forget, everybody, that there have been movies that have been panned by the critics that went on to have financial and general audience success.
Night at the Museum is a great example. It's rotten on Rotten Tomatoes with a 43% positive rating, but it grossed $574 million worldwide and almost everybody I know who's seen it loved it.
Yes, critics are just judging whether or not the film is good. Everyone knows a movie doesn't have to actually be good to make money. Just look at the Transformers series.
As I've mentioned elsewhere I joined the IMDb throng. VDT's rating has increased to 70.1 %. And on the not-yet-greenlit Silver Chair site, someone replied to a thread I started and said that VDT was better than HPDH Part 1. Like what a workmate said.
On the other hand, the same reviewer who insisted that the Dawn Treader was marooned in the Deathly Shallows gave VDT 2.5 out of 5 stars. Anyway, today is the day. Best of luck everyone.
Roger Ebert gave the film a favorable review, seen on RT. That will go a long way towards encouraging people to see the movie, b/c he is a well known critic.
Concerning 3D, I like what Ebert says:
"I will say it has the best rendition of 3-D I've seen in one of these action spectaculars; Apted uses it and is not driven by it."
Although he urges seeing it in regular 2D best.
The critical Concensus is up:
Its leisurely, businesslike pace won't win the franchise many new fans, but Voyage of the Dawn Treader restores some of the Narnia franchise's lost luster with strong performances and impressive special effects.
I must admit, it's a pretty good one.
Even if you don't believe in God...
He still believes in you.
