I wonder how many of those votes are people from NarniaWeb voting over and over.
Although I have joined the IMDb throng, I am not one of them. You see, I haven't worked out yet all that I can and can't do on that database, and am more interested in the Silver chair one anyway.
I think that the voting will fluctuate day by day depending on who visits and when. And a lot depends on how original the reviews may be. Some reviews tend to stick around, and others copy or paraphrase them, rather than thinking up some of their own opinions. This happens in newspapers as well, I suspect. Especially when a view published in Melbourne's The Age, appears only slightly changed in SMH the next day. Or when the same review is published here, and crops up elsewhere on the Internet.

You can only vote once per film on IMDb, and only if you have registered with their site.
I wouldn't complain about the movie being too Christian though, because I agree with rjefvh andTarquin that the books are very Christian as well.
The Narnia books and movies are always going to make some people uncomforable with any religious- or apparently religious- themes. A critic who reviewed LWW must have really disliked the movie, because after complaining about these themes, he listed a bunch of things he claimed to be the movie that really never were. Like Oreius breaking out into a song to 'motivate the troops' and even more ridiculous thoughts.
Actually, it was pretty funny.
But anyway, my point is, people are expecting that from Narnia. It's not exactly a secret that CS Lewis was a Christian or anything. Really no surprise, that some critics are uncomfortable just stepping into the theatre.

well, each person can only vote once on a specific movie.
EDIT:
well, I guess I should have read more. It seems someone else has said this. Of course, there are people who create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings (but this doesn't really have any affect.)
EDIT 2: VDT is once again "fresh" on RT, with 63%.
I think VDT will ultimately get about 50% on RottenTomatoes. It didn't strike me as a film that would particularly enthrall critics.
As for the commenters bashing the negative reviews, I would say that while some of them have valid points, most haven't seen the movie, and I don't think their comments have as much validity. Take, for instance, this review...
Their mission - for reasons that are not fully explained - is to locate the seven swords of the lost Lords of Narnia, and to use them to save this world from ... something. Uhh, quick a distraction! Look, special effects!
...and it's response by a commenter...
Swords? They weren't searching for swords. they were searching for seven LORDS you idiot. Did you even watch the movie?
Clearly Corey did not even watch the movie.

Of course no one has ever created multiple accounts to vote over and over.
Honestly though, there's no sense in worrying over what the RT or decidedly less credible IMDB rating is at this point. The movie isn't out in most countries yet and most critics haven't watched it yet. Ratings change, just look at the sky high numbers Transformers 2, a truly execrable movie, had on IMDB when it first came out and now it's a 6.0.
I'm a little worried about the reviews being negative and coming in so slowly. Normally I don't think the audience cares that much, but it seems like they are going to have plenty of time to notice before the US release. At least no top critics have weighed in yet.
Unn, why are all the positive reviews for VDT not being posted on RT?
Is it a conspiracy against the movie? Finding them on Google is easy enough.
I'm hesitant to say conspiracy necessarily. I have noticed that Tron has seemed to get some preferential treatment. However, it's also possible that rotten tomatoes takes a long time before deciding if a review is fresh or not. Some reviews don't have an actual rating, so they might have to read it and decide. I really don't know how they do the rating completely, but while i am suspicious a little, I can see no evidence of direct bias. Anything is possible, though.
Alas. The unpleasantness of having to wait a few days.
Final word really comes out when it hits theaters on Friday in the US. I just cannot see it doing horribly at the box office. I don't see families taking kids to see The Tourist or The Fighter - two movies I would not watch for free on DVD despite rave reviews consistent with a feel-good movie like Trainspotting (89%).
Need to find the quote, but Rotten Tomatoes even comments the reviews are not an accurate prediction of what movies will do well.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

Worst case scenario: They take the kids to see Tangled.

I'm suprised that the reviewers (the rotten ones at least) don't like Will Poulter as Eustace. They say he is unlikable...but thats the whole point! I would have thought they would praise him, if only him.

That's kind of how I felt about the reviews that came in after PC came out. "This movie has lost its magic." Well.. .yeah... that's the point.
Good to hear it's got a fresh rating again.
