Josh, I agree, I haven't seen any more ads for VDT. Yesterday my friend told me she didn't even know a Narnia movie was out. Yes, maybe I should have told her, but I haven't had a chance to speak with this friend in some time. We can help but we don't have to take full responsibility for marketing the film. That's Fox's job.

Generally sequels open big, and then just kind of drop off the map. That's what was so bad about VDT, it didn't open big. Fortunately it is holding fairl well (especially for a sequel).
Check out "The Magician's Nephew" and "The Last Battle" trailers I created!

I agree. Whilst the other movies, even Harry Potter, run ads in the newspapers, where the cinema times are advertised, VDT is conspicuously absent. Not even a 'hurry, last days' sort of ad. Though there are still ads for it running in the local shopping centre, on one of those public service announcement tv screens - along with Gulliver's travels and a few other films in a slide presentation.
(sighs!) I don't know why big studios think it is a good idea to 'modernise' a classic by making the hero of it an American, no matter how cute, loveable, humble and ordinary he might be. The fact is, that in the era when Jonathan Swift wrote Gulliver's travels, it was a good century or more before the USA was even heard of. But it does make great kiddie amusement in the third most populous nation on the planet. I suppose.
There is no excuse for what Fox did to Gulliver's Travels.
Well reports coming from the UK suggest Narnia stayed second over Christmass despite the release of "Little Fockers", meaning it leaped over Tron Legacy, (which feels about as hyped as led ballon)
Little Fockers made more than £3 million in its first five days on release, knocking the previous week's top film, Tron Legacy, down to three.
Chronicles of Narnia film The Voyage of the Dawn Treader remained at two

That certainlly is a good hold for Narnia

So I was checking box office mojo and I just noticed that I don't see India's numbers there - which could be up to $5 million... Unless I just missed it.

Slight increase for Narnia on Thrusday.
Hopefully it will go up on Friday despite losing 400 screens.

And what was the increase? I'd like to know the numbers. Can't find them yet anywhere.

It's estimated to have increased +2.9% to $3,475,000.
VDT past Eragon and Golden Compass at any rate. It is also slightly past the $75 mill expected on this thread by Friday. And still keeping up. I hope. IMDb hasn't upgraded its totals yet. And I don't know how Tangled is doing so far or Megamind
This weekend is huge for Narnia. If it does really well this thing could hit 115. If not it will barely crawl across 100 million. I passed by the theater half an hour ago and it was packed. I stepped inside and asked the lady at the ticket window about Narnia and she said it was doing a lot of business. So I'm really hopeful for this weekend.
Dawn Treader's worldwide numbers have passed Knight & Day's, and seems to be Fox's biggest money maker this year. (Even though Knight & Day was fifth in North America, it did really well overseas and looks like it used to be #1).
On the domestic front, Dawn Treader still has a ways to go to beat The A-Team, Unstopable, Percy Jackson, and Date Night.
Dawn Treader has beaten Eragon on both the Domestic and Worldwide fronts.
Dawn Treader has also beaten The Golden Compass domestically, but not worldwide.

"US box office takings have slid 45% compared to last Christmas."
This was in the BBC entertainment section in the article talking about current films and their standings. So maybe it's not that Dawn Treader is doing as badly in the box office- maybe it's that nobody's going to the cinema at the moment. Here's to hoping any way.
*looks up at previous posts* I hope this is a good weekend for Dawn Treader!
I stand with the Lord at my side, always.
For Narnia and the North!
Be the change you want to see in the world.

I'm glad about the increase! Do a lot of people watch movies on New Years day? If so, then maybe that will be good for VDT.

Well the good thing is that VDT is within 2 or 3 million of both the A-Team(77 million domestic) and Unstoppable(78.5 million domestic) So it will definitely beat them. Date Night(98.7 million) and Percy Jackson(88 million) will take a little longer. However, VDT is I believe already Foxes highest grossing movie worldwide, or very close to being that.
