The film isn't like the book. PC is not weak source material. It is certainly better then VotDT. VotDT just seems more like a movie though they are going to make huge changes to connected all of the episodic scenes into one arc for the film.
I am going to keep saying this. I do not believe PC is the weakest book and i am not convinced that it is considered that by fans.

I totally agree, decarus. PC did not have to be so completely changed in order to make it "cinematic." They easily could have told all of Caspian's story up until he blows the horn, and then introduced the Pevensies. It would have made the film more about Caspian trying to recover the lost magic of Narnia, and he would have been the main character instead of the Pevensies. I don't know, just a thought...

The trick would be how to do that without confusing non-fans too much.

All i am trying to say is that PC is not a weak book. It has some of the best scenes in it for me. The Peter/Miraz duel, the scene where Edmund says why he is going to side with Lucy, the scene where everyone speaks to Aslan after finally following him, the scene where Susan pings an arrow off of a Telmarine's head, the scenes where the kids return to Cair Paravel and realize it is their castle because of the chest piece and the apple trees and the treasure chamber, the scene where Susan doesn't shoot the bear and Lucy says 'wouldn't it be dreadful if some day in our own world, at home, men started going wild inside, like the animals here, and still looked like men, so that you'd never know which were which?' and also in the books they speak to the Pevensies like they are the kings and queens of old.
The thing is the only scenes of these i really like in the film and that are at all like the book scenes are the return scenes. I really like the scenes where the kids return to Narnia in the film and walk around Cair Paravel and enter the treasure chamber and take their stuff from the chests. Oh and the How. I always thought of the How in the book sort of like how in the real world they build churches over religious sights like where they thought Jesus was born or where they think he died and the How is a great representation of that in the film as a sacred sight that a mound was built over. The scene where the kids enter that set is awesome.
When i say these are some of the best scenes for me i mean some of my favorites in the entire series, so it annoys me to no end when people say that PC is a weak book. The film isn't at all like the book and besides the return scenes and the how i don't think any of the other scenes were adapted well at all.

I agree. I love the book!
but I am accused of loving the movie more than the book by my sister it's true.....
I will say it like this: I love the book and the movie. I love what Lewis wrote! but I also love what they did in the movie (except for Suspian)! I hope that makes sense.

I understand. It is hard for me to get over the Susan/Caspian thing and it isn't just the kiss it is the fact that Susan always backs Caspian and that her reason for being glad she came back to Narnia in the end was because she got to meet Caspian. In the book, i think it was because she saw Aslan again and he breathed on her and not because she saw a boy she thought was attractive.

Why does everyone assume the non-book fans are stupid?
Why does everyone assume the non-book fans are stupid?
um because few of them act like they are and complain too much. If they wanna learn they should pick up the books. It's not a hard read.

I do think though what makes a show interesting, for example LOST, is that there is more to it then the superficial. That it takes something to be understood. I think the same thing is true of films.
That doesn't mean that everyone will understand, but i still think they should make it so that there is something to be understood.

^ That's why most of those problems about Susan needs to be fixed in HHB. She was obviously only glad about seeing Caspian when she went back. Could a guy happen to be the problem? Falling for a guy made her fall back in love with Narnia? That was the only thing I understood and got out of her in PC.

Wow, that's really harsh, Damsel. Sure, there are some people out there who are less than mental giants, but people seem to approach these movies assuming that everyone out there is completely brainless. I'm so tired of hearing "Well, they can't do it like that because it would confuse people." It's become just another reason to excuse poor movie-making. And if the movie audiences are so stupid, why did Inception make that much movie? That storyline was a lot more complex than any CoN plot.
I said act, i didn't say they were stupid, there's a fine line difference. You've been pretty harsh on me too in the past bookwyrm I wouldn't know I haven't seen Inception.

I was talking about being harsh on the non-book fans. I'd be the last person to complain about how someone replied to me.
