So we are just two months short of the 6 Year anniversary of the Netflix deal being announced (October 3rd 2018)....
Hands up who thought we'd be more than halfway done with the entire series by now, rather than still waiting for literally anything to happen?
Anyway, Netflix have just announced their "Geeked Week" event for September 2024... Surely this has to be the moment when we get something tangible?

Guilty as charged.
This is the journey
This is the trial
For the hero inside us all
I can hear adventure call
Here we go
To put it in perspective, Disney Plus has released 8 seasons of Star Wars shows since 2019, and 12 seasons of Marvel shows since 2021... At that pace we'd have been done and dusted long ago!
@icarus Well, thinking optimistically, maybe that means they're taking time to get Narnia perfect. From what I hear through the grapevine, a lot of fans don't like the new Marvel and Star Wars stuff. (Of course, just because something is hated on the internet, that doesn't mean I hate it. If I watched all the new Marvel and Star Wars stuff, I might say that the grumpy fans are crazy. I'm not a big part of the target audience so I haven't watched any of it recently.)

As a Narnia fan, I really hope that if Netflix continues making 'Narnia' movies, they will take their time to make the adaptations perfect and accurate. I also hope they bring back the original cast because they did an excellent job playing Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy in the Chronicles of Narnia movies.
Well, I am actually a bit excited that there will be new Narnia films or series yet at the same time kind of bit of a skeptic. You never know how the final product will turn out.
Netflix might do a good job with Narnia (if they'll do it). But then, of course, no company is perfect. Neither the BBC TV series nor the Walden films were done perfectly, but they still have their audiences. So I can't expect Netflix to get Narnia perfectly but I would be happy if they were close to the books for the most part.

Nothing released from the first three days as far as I can tell... But the big in-person event is tomorrow evening, so I guess it's that or nothing!
Fingers crossed!
I feel like my last post in this thread sounded more pessimistic than I actually am about something. You see, it was about how I don't think Greta Gerwig's visual style is that interesting (or at least I don't see what makes it better than Andrew Adamson's or Michael Apted's or anything.) But I actually think her Narnia movies could be visually superior to The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010), the visuals of which I think are OK at best. I don't think they'll be visually superior to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) or Prince Caspian (2008) because those movies had Roger Ford as the production designer, something VDT sadly did not have.
Maybe that still sounds overly pessimistic though. It's not like Roger Ford is the only great production designer out there. (I just can't really think of any that are specifically better off the top of my head.)

Haven't seen or heard a single thing about Narnia during the whole week - so I guess the answer was "nothing" 😂
Oh well.

Now that’s wild!
I almost think that with Greta Gerwig attached, Narnia’s almost too big of a deal for an event like Geeked Week.
What would be their advantage of revealing any details this early? We still haven't seen any press releases from Netflix since Matthew Aldrich’s announcement in 2019.

We made it! (here in the UK at least!)
Happy 6 year no news anniversary!

One more year of this and we'll have a nice Narnian number 7 to celebrate! 😉
@icarus Well, at least it's not quite "no news" since Greta Gerwig's involvement was officially announced, but still no known progress, no projected dates, and not even an indication of what the first film will be...
I wouldn't have quite expected we'd be "more than halfway done with the entire series" by now, 6 years after the original announcement of the Netflix deal, but I would have guessed we'd have at least two films completed and available, maybe three. However, at least we now know for sure they haven't quietly dropped the project entirely, which is what I was suspecting until the Gerwig news broke last year.
"Now you are a lioness," said Aslan. "And now all Narnia will be renewed."
(Prince Caspian)
Just the name of the director for the first two adaptions isn't much to show for six years of waiting. I'm still sceptical we'll ever get any adaptions from Netflix.
Not necessarily Narnia news, but I was pleased to hear recently that Matthew Aldrich got himself a new writing job:

Perhaps if he starts doing interviews for that project in the coming months he might get asked about what became of his Narnia involvement.
