I am going to say. march to may. It depends but i really want to see it.
H'm, I'm guessing we'll be seeing the official Movie Trailer by at least June-ish or July-ish.
I mean, we got the Prince Caspian trailer six months before the release...so I'm guessing they'll do the same thing with Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Or they could do it in September or October ! Which I DO NOT think that would be a smart plan if they're looking to make $600,000,000.
I met Georgie and Skandar AND saw the film in one evening.
Yes, it is not good to hold up the trailer. The curiosity of the fans must be satisfied. In this case the rating of the coming movie will rise more and more .
My money is on May 2010 for the teaser debut, just as they did with LWW. Here's a look at that month's releases:
May 7 - Iron Man 2
May 14 - Robin Hood
May 21 - Shrek Forever After
May 28 - Prince of Persia
Plenty of releases with big audiences to start getting the word out. Fox could go earlier and attach the trailer to Alice in Wonderland (March 2010) but that might be too far out from December.
Prince of Persia would most likely have the demographic Fox is looking to attract with Narnia, so I'm betting on that, with Robin Hood and Shrek as seconds. Folks watching Iron Man 2 may not be interested in a kids/family movie.
Quod Erat Demonstrandum
I will agree with those who think May for the teaser and then later on for the full trailer. That way the teaser could appear before some big audiences on a big screen.
Also, more of the special effects will be completed during the previous 4 months; as well as other post-production stuff they could use in a trailer.
One thing that could be done earlier would be just a simple message ad in theaters. I've seen these in the past where there is no footage, just simple graphics and music, which just show the title of the film and its release date preceded by some words building up the curiosity factor. Could be done with a little flair but the main thing is that it's simple and cheaper and gets the ball rolling for publicity.

There is definitely no "a" in definite.

I say the same thing as spartan5. It looks to me that they release teaser trailers 5-8 months before the film is actually released.
yeah, I hope the teaser trailer comes out in May! that will give us something to hold us over until the regular trailer!
if the teaser trailer comes out in May, then my guess is that the the official trailer will come out in June 2010.....

Probably a teaser with the Percy Jackson movie next February 12, and then a full trailer with a summer blockbuster in May...
I don't know if anybody here remembers, but how long was it to the release date when the first teaser trailer for PC came out?
UPDATE: The first trailer for PC was released on Dec 5, 2007. That's five months before the movie came out. So we might not see anything from VTD until May/June/July...
I'd be happy with any official video. I think a teaser would probably come out around April and a Trailer around June or July...
Farsight1: yeah! that would be good if they put the teaser trailer with the Percy Jackson movie! good publicity.....

I really think this thread should have a poll. But, whatever.
I can almost guarantee with 95% certainty that a trailer will come out by June. Unless of course, Fox has an interesting marketing plan that no one but the "insiders" know about.
Overall I don't really see the point of Fox's marketing campaign. So far, there has been no publicity but three Facebook pictures and maybe a Yahoo! visit. Fox HAS to build at least some publicity or VDT will flop like PC did.
Narnia forever!
I'm not expecting a trailer until June/July, but would LOVE to see one sooner!
I agree with shasta the second - Fox hasn't put forth a strong advertising campaign yet. They need to get started on that.

Since the movie did begin post-production the holidays could have interfered with the time of that as well. I'm looking at a possible teaser release around April or May. I know the wait is soo killing me.
