I watched it yesterday and am going to see it again next week.

I thought the film as a whole was brilliant. I went in thinking that it was going to be completely awful, but I was pleasantly surprised. Will Poulter had the role of Eustace down perfectly- I laughed so hard when he was first brought on to the ship, and I thought his lines were wonderful. Skandar and Georgie were wonderful as well, though some of the lines they were given were a bit clumpy and hard to pull off.
What had the smoke billowing from my ears though, was the fact that- yet again -Edmund was underpreciated. His fight with Caspian at Goldwater...grrr. he doesn't have to prove himself to anyone! And when Drinian put him down in front of Caspian "This ship only takes orders from King Caspian" OH MY GOSH I COULD HAVE STRANGLED HIM!
The green mist wasn't as bad as I'd worked myself up to think it was going to be, though I still don't understand it. I was also irritated when it came up every time something went the slightest bit wrong. They did kind of beat us over the head with it.
All this aside however, I loved it when Caspian gave Ed Rhindon to carry in the battle. It was wonderful, and I felt like poor Ed was finally getting some of the recognition he deserves.
While the film was a little fast paced, I thought that Reepicheep was brilliant, and that as a whole it was a wonderful film that I'll definately go and see again! I just hope to heck that they make enough to go ahead with Silver Chair!

I really liked this movie. I saw it on Friday, and liked it, and then again on Saturday (in 3D) and loved it SO much more. I don't think the 3D had anything to do with me liking it so much better; I guess I just got used to the changes and was actually enjoying the movie rather than analyzing it.
Yes, there are changes. But something needed to be done to make it a movie. Sure, some of the changes are ridiculous (the sacrifices to the mist ) but the majority I was okay with. The movie just felt like the book to me (Eustace writing in his journal was perfect). They got a lot of it right. So in the end, I voted 'It was great!'.

It was my favorite Narnia movie so far- partially because I like VDT second best out of all books, partially because of the shorter length, but mainly because everybody did a fantastic job!!!!!
Well all I can really say it it is a little more than I expcected but way less than desired for. I was quite dissapointed with it. The plot was ridiculos and very patchy, and somehow it all was a bit to quick for me. I voted It wasn't that good. I seriously don't know which one to like more, PC or VDT. There were good parts too, Eustace, Caspian and Drinian were just amazing, Lucy was great, I loved the way she played, I LOVED the begining and the end (I broke down and cried at the end ) but the middle was one disapointment after another.
always be humble and kind
Just saw it!! I loved it!!!I thought it was over all very good! the one thing that annoyed me was no real relationship between Lucy and Edmund! they kinda hug luike once and scream eachothers names alot but besides that nothing. But besides that I LOVED the movie

As others have noted, Eustace's performance was excellent and he does indeed win over the audience by the end of the film. If Eustace were the worst aspect of this movie, I would bet against The Silver Chair ever being green-lit. However, the majority of reviews here concur that Eustace was great (even by those who disliked the film). This bodes very well for The Silver Chair, as the audience will already appreciate a film whose lead actor is the one that they liked most from the preceding film.
Making a big budget film is a financial bet, and consequently the studios and whoever else decides (when adapting the book to film) that every movie needs certain ingredients to be successful. Having said that....
Hollywood seems to like villains, so who was the villain here? I guess the green mist?!
Hollywood likes to put a big climactic (and usually drawn out) scene about 20 minutes from the end of the movie. I guess the sea serpent was the climax. I never care for drawn out battle scenes (even with sea serpents).
I have found in many movies that the endings are rushed, and this one was no exception. I absolutely love the last 3 chapters of the book, but the movie's ending--while touching--was simply paced incorrectly. I am willing to forgive the changes to the book & such, but they really could have added 5-10 minutes to the movie and made it much more fulfilling.
^ When the green mist first came on screen I wanted to claw my eyes out. I normally can tolerate these things, but that Green Mist drived me insane. INSANE! Argg it was so cheap and chessy and lame.

Saw it this afternoon. I'd say it was good, better than PC, but not as good as LWW. Mostly because after seeing PC, I was disappointed, but after this movie, I felt about the same as I did before seeing it. I think we can trust Walden to do the next movie. I did notice a couple places where the 3-D didn't look right, and the green mist/dark island/7 swords/etc. is unfortunate, but I believe the positives balance it out.
Seeking comic book artist, PM for details.
I can't judge it against the other films. Each of the films is so different from one another and excellent in their own way that they can't be compared.
But I certainly did enjoy this movie a lot.
Eustace was an excellent character, well acted and well animated (when he is a dragon). The chemistry between him and Repicheep worked very well.
Lucy's character had a lot more development than was in the book, which I was grateful for. Her temptation was far, far more interesting than I thought it would be and I'm glad it wasn't just left to one quick scene.
The plot flowed well, and I became very engrossed in the movie as it went along. It was indeed changed from the book, but I like the changes. They make the story have more cohesion.
Seeing as I haven't graced NW with my opinions for at least a year...
The movie, as whole, receives a 4 out of 5 stars for me. Changes made to the plot were acceptable. Yes, the green mist may of seemed a little over the top...and it was a bit annoying at first. But I think it's addition turned out to be a good thing. It spiced up the book's plot line without making it too unbelievable and too "Hollywood-esque". Again, this is arguable. Just an opinion.
I mean, after all - the underlying plot line didn't differ much from the book. What's the purpose in the book? To find the 7 Lords. Did they do that in the movie? Yes.
This movie was definitely 10x better the PC, hands down. After first stepping out of the theater, I even began to question if I thought it was better than LWW.
...then I went home and watched LWW. It'll always be a classic, and I decided that VDT didn't change that.
So...two thumbs up for VDT. Bring on Silver Chair!

Ahhhhh! I voted it was good, because though as of right now I think I like it best of the three, I have high standards It had too many things that didn't quite work to be great.
* I still don't quite understand the green mist/seven swords. Who was behind the mist, and how would putting swords together defeat it? I just don't understand it.
* Eustace's undragoning was a bit anti-climatic They had the right idea, just needed to expand on it a bit more.
* Caspian wanting his father just seemed tired.
* Haha Lucy liking Caspian was rather funny, but wasn't necessary, imo. It was understandable: young people look up to and admire those older then them, it was just a little meh.
* I'm curious as to what happens when the green mist eats people. You'd think they'd be dead, or have their souls sucked out. So all that floats around are empty shells. (Bit of a nasty shock for Gael, don't you think?) But no, they come floating out, like nothing's happened. Huh?
But for some reason (maybe I was just tired) I found it easy to overlook the more glaring annoyances.
* The whole look was unbelievable gorgeous. I spent half the movie gasping over the ship, the colors, the islands, ahhhhhh! I want to go see it again!
* Caspian was sooooo much better, I really liked him this time around. He wasn't unbelievably conflicted, constantly doubting himself, and talking in a weird accent. Other then the above-mentioned daddy talk, I absolutely loved him.
* Eustace was the best. He was perfect, and I don't say that often XD He was bratty, and completely believable. I really liked how they played his relationship with Reep.
* Also liked how they expanded on Lucy wanting to be like Susan and Ed's mini power struggle. The "I'm a king!!" was just old, but other than that I liked their story arcs.
* Especially Lucy, and how Aslan tells her she can only be herself. You can't wish yourself away by trying to by someone else. Very good message.
* Dufflepuds were awesome. But no Ramandu!!
* Wasn't Drinian hilarious?
All in all, thumbs up. I give it an A-

I enjoyed the film as a whole (the visual aspect especially) but the thematic departures from the book were more than a little disappointing.
It bugged me that they took a quest for Honor, Adventure and Aslan's Country and turned into into a pious fable about Resisting Temptation.
And I think the green mist was a little...overt. I mean, couldn't we have guessed that Temptation was a key story element without all this wacky green stuff floating around every time a character had the urge to do something bad? And they used the word "Temptation" like five times in the dialogue. Not the subtlest characterization I ever saw.
Best Narnia film yet!
I love it so much. it was so epic!

I voted that it was good and better than PC but not LWW. I think I liked it the way that I like Jason and the Argonauts and Mysterious Island. Escapist movies (1960's versions) that were well done. Don't analyze too much and they are enjoyable.
VDT could have been a great movie but was too rushed in places and some of the changes were not necessary IMHO. But the Dawn Treader looked great and the Sea Serpent battle was exciting and having Eustace help the way he did fit with the changes there.
The actual ending in Narnia was pretty faithful to the book. Caspian's presence worked out OK for me. I'll leave it at that for now...
