I liked LWW and PC MUCH better than I liked VDT.
I did not like the the majority of camera work; I always thought the camera was too close to people's face's when they were speaking.
I think that the script was the worst one yet.
The green mist was poorly done (which was weird because the dark island was pretty sweet).
The Dragon looked SO FAKE, but reepicheep and Aslan look amazing. I am confused.
There was so beautiful shots of scenery, but the majority of the movie was HUGELY dissapointing.
Pardon me while I go throw up...
The Story line was horrible they shouldn't have changed it so much , The acting was bad cause who ever wrote the script was stupid Eustace I love you, you were the only thing that reminded me about the book...
I think Micheal Aptet should have stuck to making doctumentaries, he did a much better job at that. He makes Andrew Adamson look like Christopher Nolen....
Mr. Aptet,
May I ask why you deside to take everything good about the books and mess it up treating the movie like it's a documentary. And if you're gonna take out something in the book you should at least take the part out about Lucy wanting to be beautiful, Georgie Henley is just as Beautiful as Anna Popplewell. If you're gonna try and make a movie off of a book then dont completely change it while adding a something stupid that an average movie goer wouldn't understand.
The CGI was pretty good room for improvement but compaired with the rest of the movie it was great.
Skandar Keynes I love you, you're a good actor, and they gave you junky lines the whole movie there was nothing you could have dne different.
Georgie Henley they screwed up your charactor... I feel bad for you and Skandar both cause they made you guys look like bad actors....
Reepicheep.... About as good as you could hope for in a complete flop of a movie like this, but you're way too cheesy at time not good charactor developement.
Ben Barnes Good job you have good like acted well couldn't have asked for anything better.
I final summory it felt like i was watching a cheap lowbudget film, give me the resorses and I can make a movie 10 times better then this.
Sorry mods if I'm frustraited but I waited 2 years for this film and it's one of the worst I've ever paid money for....

Hurray for optimistic thinking rewarded! VDT was truly amazing!!! I voted great, because I still liked PC better (which is saying a LOT).
There were quite a few small things which I disliked, and the green mist was annoying, but all in all it was magnificent. Quite as much as I hoped for - and I was VERY hopeful.
All the acting was magnificent. The dragon was awesome. What I disliked -
Drinian. I kept expecting him to turn bad, he was so stern and everything. Of course every once in awhile he let down his guard, but he should have been more open and nice and gay.
Lilliandil. I'm sorry, but blue star lady? Really annoying.
Dufflepuds. They weren't bad, but I was expecting more. They weren't funny enough, simple enough, or nice enough. But it was really funny when they turned visible again.
And I wish they'd done the slave business differently. I love those scenes in the books, where they're walking around on the lovely island, and then get captured. And I love the over throw of Gumpas, so that was a small disappointment.
And I wanted them to show Susan and Peter more - and his hair was way too long.
Green mist of course . . but I liked how they showed the nightmares of all the different people - they just should have shown more.
I loved the dragon, he looked fine, and he was so nice!! Reepicheep was great, though I dislike the voice change. I was fully satisfied with how Caspian acted with Edmund and Lucy - that had been one of my chief worries. They just slipped into brother and sister mode, though considering PC, that was kinda odd. They'd been ignored by Caspian then.
And the mention of Susan by Caspian took care of it fine.
And they didn't do anymore about Edmund and Caspian's "No" line. I knew they wouldn't.
And Aslan should have been in it more. And it ended too quickly.
Do not be scared, you who have not seen it. It is beyond wonderful. YAY!!!!!
Now I pray that it will make plenty of money . . .
I sobbed and sobbed and sobbed in the end, through all of the credits rolling.

It was good.
Not great, not fantastic, not what it could have been. But good simply because I feel the characters were, for the most part, portrayed well (with the exception of Eustace who was portrayed perfectly) and most of the themes were intact and fairly well done. And those, imo, are the most important thing to get right in an adaptation.
What ruins it is that awful plot with the swords and the green mist and the White Witch. Granted, I am glad she was kept only as Edmund's nightmare/temptation (though it almost seems pointless that she was because every time she came up he was always repulsed by her and was against her, as he should be), but I'm still tired of having her come up. She's done. Tilda was great as the WW in LWW, and I was fine with her in PC because that scene was hinted at in the book, but putting her in VDT was overkill, as was the constant use of the green mist for everything that happened. And the whole "if the Dark Island is not destroyed, it will be unstoppable." Unstoppable even for Aslan? Really? I sure hope not because he's supposed to be the most powerful being in the Narnian world.
As for the second part of the poll, I voted it was better than PC but not as good as LWW. Based on my first experiences for each of the movies, I enjoyed VDT far more than I did watching PC but not nearly as much as I loved LWW.

Just saw it this morning...AAAAH!!!! Okay, calm down, let's do this rationally!
I would rate it 35/65--35 good, 65 bad. The good was SO good...but the bad was just SO bad!!!! thankfully, though, I was prepared, so I wasn't angry after the movie, only disappointed.
Okay....so what did I like? I liked Caspian--he was amazing! I loved Eustace, and I actually liked him as a dragon. I was especially touched when he started crying--the tear really moved me! Poulter did an astounding job--he's so the perfect Eustace!! 3 thumbs up!! I liked the Dawn Treader, I liked Drinian and the crew, and some of the effects were cool.
Now...here goes!!! I didn't like the Green Mist (where did it come from? what was it? why were they sending people into it??? huh???? ) Didn't like the whole fight scene in Narrowhaven (why was Lord Bern in prison???) The Seven Swords was extra and unnecessary. I really didn't like the scene with the Dufflepuds (Coriakin "made them invisible to protect them"??? what???? )...and it just got worse and worse!! I did not like Lucy's character at all--this whole "I want to be like Susan" was very...???? Same for Edmund's "I want to be King! I'm tired of always being second"... I don't know, it was just not right. Reepicheep was dreadfully cheesy. And the whole "temptation" thing was also unnecessary--very whatever. And Ramandu's Daughter did leave much to be desired.
The movie just looked cheap, and there were way too many loose ends! What happened to Lord Rhoop? Why did only Edmund, Lucy, Reepicheep, Eustace, and Caspian go the Aslan's Country? What happened to the crew during this time? Of course, readers of the Narnia books know, but other people don't!
That came out a bit strong, and I'm sorry if I insulted something someone else liked...I just don't really know how else to word it. To me the plot seemed patchy, stereo-typed, and rather boring. I knew everything that was going to happen (not because I saw the book, but because it was so predictable) If I worded something too rudely, I can go back and retype it...I just had to get this all out! So sad...it could have been such a great movie...

*sigh* Saw it twice within six hours which was probably a good thing because then the second time I was able to just enjoy the movie without comparing it.
First time through, I did not like. Second time through, I liked it better.
Script - I don't think the script was very good. Some of the lines did not fit.
Music - I would have liked more Gregson-Williams woven into it.
Acting -
Edmund - The first time I watched the movie, I was just about to cry when I heard Ed's first lines because I thought it was horrible acting. After the second time, it wasn't nearly as bad though. I was kinda disappointed with Keynes acting overall. I think he could have done better.
Lucy - She did okay. Her frantic scenes were done well. And dufflepud struggling.
Eustace - AMAZING!
Caspian - Okay
Susan - Did Anna really do the scenes when Lucy is looking through the mirror and book? If so, she did amazing. You could tell it was Lucy that looked like Susan.
Everyone else - okay. I actually liked Drinian. Wasn't too impressed with Tavros. Loved Reep.
Camera - Different angles. Interesting shots.
Plot - *cough* I like what Josh said about the Dark Island plot.
I was almost at the end. So sweet.
I put "okay" as my vote. Comparing it to the book --> As a movie standalone - weak.
Praying 4 Skandar member.
Best:
1. Eustace / dragon
2. Reepicheep
3. The ship itself
4. The ending
Worst:
1. The Green Mist
2. Drinian
3. Coriakin / Dufflepuds
4. Gael
The shots of the ship were amazing. Eustace and Reepicheep were awesome. The ending was also very good. Some of the plot changes were understandable but the "green mist" was still troublesome for me. I can see why they did it though.
I thought it was amazing! The trailers really tricked me, I thought it was going to be terrible!
Although there were many parts that were quite...cheesy, too many stupid jokes that wrecked serious moments. And the pacing was way too fast. But I like the good parts too much to worry about that!
It was waaaay better than PC, but I never liked that one anyways. I haven't seen LWW for quite a while, so VDT was probably just as good!
Just watched it. So no, LWW is still the best.

I liked it as a movie but not as a book adaption.
Music - I would have liked more Gregson-Williams woven into it.
Acting -
Everyone else - okay. I actually liked Drinian. Wasn't too impressed with Tavros. Loved Reep.
I think there were too many trumpets in the theme--the music didnt fit in like they other movies where they re-used some music, that was a good thing, I now realize.
I didn't like Drinian. Besides the facts that you can't shave your head like that on a ship with no electricity, and you could tell he wasnt naturally bald-I've always imagined him with the same hair as the BBC version
no longer active. every once in a while ill pop back for the memories. good to see a few recognizable names 🙂
I Quite enjoyed the film I think it was a little better than Prince Caspian but not as good as The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe I give it 8.5/10
How good was the film?
I thought it was an excellent film, it made me feel what the book made me feel, which rates as an excellent adaptation. I give it a 9/10. The reason it doesn't get a full 10 is because there are some disappointments and also, I think the filmmakers (particularly the director) could've pushed the envelope a bit. It's like Apted was holding back, not giving it both barrels or something. Also, it would've benefitted greatly from even an extra 10 minutes of screentime. The film was too rushed. I did enjoy it greatly though, and it gave me the same chills-and-wonderment feeling that the first two films did.
How good was it in comparison to PC and LWW?
I think it's a difficult thing to compare the films now, because VDT is such a different style of adventure from PC and LWW, it's like comparing apples and oranges. Kind of like comparing the books. I think as a trio, they stand very tall together. I like how different VDT feels from PC, it's variant like the books. One of the series' strengths is that each book takes place in a different atmosphere, with different characters, but still in the world of Narnia with Aslan at the helm. We are starting to see this in the films with the release of VDT. And By the Lion, may it continue with the Silver Chair!
~~
I voted that "it was great!"
Never mind that 80% of that translates to "it was great (to snark at)!"
This was just one of the best films I've ever seen to snark at. It helps that as far as the whole "main plot" goes (and to think, one of the things I liked most about the book was its lack of a "main plot"!), it just seemed so much like a video game. Collect the seven swords! Find new party members! Visit new locations! Rescue the hostages! Enter the final dungeon and fight the final boss (and its final form!)! Goodness, when the serpent went all One-Winged Angel, I just about cracked up.
Ah... good stuff, good stuff.
Now, for the actually good stuff.
Music was great, especially the credits.
The whole "mist of temptation" and how it was resolved was handled poorly, but the actual personal dealings with it all weren't too bad. The aftermath of the resolutions were probably the best handled, showing how each character changes for the better after overcoming their temptation.
The relationship between Eustance and Reepicheep was done brilliantly. And 80% of their interaction was done while one of them couldn't even talk! Definitely the highlight of the film for me. Ironically enough, while character interaction is probably the part of any story I care about the most, it wasn't one of the things I was expecting out of VotDT, so to see it done so well here was a nice surprise.
Anyways, there's my two cents.

Just saw the movie and since I don't have time to do and in depth review I will just give it a star rating
As a cold, hard critic with no emotion involved in the movie I would give it a 5 out of 10 as a cinematic work.
But since I'm an avid fan of the books and they got so much right in this movie I would give it a 7or 8
I agree with what's been said. The good was very very good, and I didn't like the bad at all.
-I thought the Green Mist was a tad overdone. I like the theme of temptation, but they didn't need to beat us over the head with it. IT was a good visual way to show a metaphorical concept, but I thought they could have been a little less obvious. (Deathwater Island handled it well. The Mist was there, but was hiding, and there was plenty of temptation, as there should be.) I'd have preferred the idea that the Dark Island was The Place Where Dreams Come True. (not daydreams, DREAMS.) I'd have loved to see some of the crew freaking out at seeing their nightmares.
-Lots of stuff just happened. Not enough explanation of why things happened, or the reasons behind them. For example, the first island. They just took some guy out of prison and what, put him in charge? ( I know he was a Narnian Lord, but did the rest of the folks on the island know that?) Example 2: Eustace's magical teleportation ability. He's on the beach! No, he's on Ramandu's Island, in the woods! No, he's in the water! I guess "a wizard did it."
- I thought they could have left out a few of the Easter Eggs from previous movies. Edmund's flashlight, Reep's tail, etc. Also, although this is minor, Susan's Horn wasn't on the Dawn Treader. Caspian left it with Trumpkin. And why oh why did they have to name-drop Jill Pole?
-For a nearly-2-hour movie, it was awfully short. There were many scenes that felt rushed, in favor of other scenes. The ending, as opposed to the Slave Traders, for example. It felt like they just wrapped everything up very quickly. They left out the trip back to Ramandu's island, the romance with what's-her-name, the Mermaid City, the Super-Power water, and any positive feelings after killing the Sea Serpent. They just killed it and BAM, they're at The Wave. (am I the only one who always pictured the ending of the VotDT like the end of the Truman Show?)
NOW, for the good (that hasn't already been mentioned.)
-I LOVED that the crew of the DT wasn't all human. The book never mentioned it, but why not?
- The Sea Serpent was absolutely horrifying. I liked how they dispatched it, since they could never have pushed it off the stern of the ship.
-Although they cut it a bit short, I liked the way the ending was handled.
