Should Andrew Adamson return? Or should Michael Apted do another one, which gives that the directors make two films each?
Or whould they follow the Harry Potter route and let one director make the first two outings and defins the world of the books, then have one director with an own personal vision for each film from then on (except for how David Yates got stuck too long)?
In the latter will be best, who is your wish for Silver Chair?
Perhaps they should go for directors from different parts of the world: India, China, Japan, Italy, France, Russia, Sweden, Germany, Argentina, USA?
I can tell you that Rowling wanted Terry Gilliam to make the first but the producers disagreed. Maybe it's possible now? Or Jean-Pierre Jeunet who turned down on of the Harry Potter? Or Gus van Sant who wanted to make the last Twilight but another director was chosen instead?
Or one of all the directors who was on a short list to make the first Potter, or some later in the series?
I give you a bunch of names, some really unbelievable.
Steven Spielberg, Jonathan Demme, Alan Parker, Wolfgang Petersen, Rob Reiner, Ivan Reitman, Tim Robbins, Brad Silberling, M. Night Shyamalan, Peter Weir, Guillermo del Toro, Marc Forster, Callie Khouri, Kenneth Branagh, Matthew Vaughn and Mira Nair.
Let the discussion begin!
There's an open topic on the director of The Silver Chair here with lots of interesting suggestions:
and a topic on the rumoured possibility of Michael Apted returning here:
hope that helps
I say they should get another director for SC. Andrew Adamson will already be busy with a different movie and Michael Apted said in a recent interview that he wont be returning, I hope it's true because I want a fresh idea for SC instead of this fanfic subplot idea he has going on.
As for directors: Peter Jackson, Guillermo del Toro, Robert Zemeckis, or Iain Softley.
