Being spoken to in a language you don't know or having to decipher text in said language? (the language's alphabet is in the Roman letters.)
RL Sibling: CSLewisNarnia
Deciphering a text in a language I don't know would be preferable. Providing I could work out which language it is, I could then get hold of a translating dictionary, even if I don't know what the diacritics stand for. A Roman alphabet language would be helpful, especially if the language resembles English a little. But Hungarian, Estonian, Finnish, Turkish, Basque and Vietnamese have no relationship to English whatever.
