E-book, usually, for economy and storage space.

Most often book purchase, but not just randomly ... I read reviews prior to buying, have had high recommendations, or a friend has loaned me a book before I lay out the money. I love building up our library with reading of excellence (particularly biographies/autobios).

Cold snap, definitely. You can bundle up with warm clothes of a day time, and hibernate in a nice warm bed.
