Dunedin, a city in New Zealand. It was founded by Presbyterians, and still has solid, sensible buildings, but also a lively student population. One feature I always smile about is that the early houses were built facing south, "for the sun", but of course it needed to be the north in this hemisphere !?

(That reminds me, somewhere on YouTube there's a video of outtakes from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which of course was filmed in NZ. In one of them, Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf manages to insert a couldn't-resist-it pun: "Orcs! And so far from Orc-land.")
