The main American Memorials are on top of the cliff at the back of where this photo was taken. It is also where the war cemetary is, one of the most heartbreaking World War II places to visit in Europe. Sword Beach and Juno Beach are a bit further along the coastline.

This is the blockhouse, which was built here back in the 1800's. To protect themselves from the Native Americans, the people living in this area at that time, used to lock themselves into the uppermost part of the building for protection.

They usually don't let people into this building due to it's age and fragile nature. But one time when we visited, the caretaker was there, and allowed my family to go into the building.
