The Town Square II

Phew! 86 pages since I last was on NW??? And now the Town Square, I'm told, is not the Town Square it was then. How did I get here, I ask?!!!! Somehow, I'm feeling like Dorothy...but I thought Kansas was last month :-

At any rate, greeting to all...um...are we still Square Onions? Or, hi to whomever we now are. I guess I have some reading to catch up on... :-s

Well, I've been traveling for a couple weeks, and recuperating for the rest of the month. Guess a bug hitched a ride with me on one of flights hither or yon. No fun.

While in Chicago, was sad to find out I missed meeting johobbit by not much more than 5 minutes. Miss Jo, you must be much more of a morning person than I am. So sorry...thoroughly hoping there will soon be a next time!

Spent a good deal of time in Chicago, and traveling to Indy and Columbus, Ohio, to visit family and attend a homeschool conference. Plus, did some research on our family roots in Chicago and Indiana. I know it sounds weird, but I just love poking around in dusty old archives. Got a copy of a document we found, signed by one ancestor who arrived in Indiana from Ireland in 1850.

btw, if anyone is interested in starting to do research on your own family tree, I'd love to help in any way...also, there is an online company offering free access to their records this week, if you are interested. I wrote about that...and our travels...in my blog. I think the link is in my sig somewhere...but it's been so long since I've been on, I've forgotten.

Well, looking forward to catching up on everyone's news. Guess I better get comfy and fetch a cup o' tea :)

*wanders into the sleepy, deserted Town Square* Good mortereve! I thought I would stop by, this weekend being Labor Day and all. Anyone else as excited as I am? ;))

Anyhoo, it looks like no one is around. Ah well. *settles down beneath the chocolate tree with a book on her lap and a cat at her feet, and waves cheerily to Jacqui*

Miss Rosario! *stifles yawn from nap* How totally awesome to see you here! What are you reading?

*Lady Amalthea plucks a chocolate/caramel apple from the tree and a couple of truffles for Rose*

Happy Labor Day, by the way!

*She settles down to read over Rose's shoulder*

Greetings, all!

I saw that everyone's been chatting in here and I thought I'd stop by again. A ketchup post will most definitely be necessary, but I wanted to make my presence known, since I'd love to join the conversation. ;)

Fall weather unexpectedly hit here today. Yesterday I wore shorts and a t-shirt; today I wore jeans and fuzzy socks. Who knows what the weather will be tomorrow, but I really enjoyed it today. It's this kind of weather that makes me want to curl up in a big comfy chair reading a good book and drinking a cup of tea. :) *wistful sigh*

*waves to Cor, Vern, Miss Rosa, and Lady A* How are you all doing this evening? :)

*Cor and Vern wave to Mountie*

Evening, Mountie! I can't speak for the others, but Vern and I are doing quite well. Enjoying a pleasant Saturday night in the Square drinking rootbeer and listening to music. :)

*As Cor said, we are doing quite well. :) The new Mod has actually been behaving quite well recently, so I do not think you will have any problems from him. ;)*

VERN! :-o [-(

*waves back to Cor and Vern, then realizes that she already did that* Hello, you two! I'm glad you're doing well!

*does away with the formalities* Ah, and what is your music of choice? Root beer is amazing, as I'm sure you already know. I'm not drinking anything at the moment, but I had a smoothie a little while ago. :)

*chuckles* Well, far be it from me to send a modly PM to another mod. On the other hand, sending a modly PM to Vern might not be out of the question. ;))

Currently the music is End Credits from Casper by James Horner. :) Probably after this it will be browsing for something else and is all else fails, listening to Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. :p

*You do have an eclectic taste, Cor... /:) *

*hands Mountie a rootbeer*

Only if you want it. Don't feel like you have to accept it. ;)

Huh?? :-o I'll be on the lookout for mysterious PM's from Mountie to Vern, then... /:)

Sounds like an awesome choice! I'll have to go put on some music now. :)

*goes to put on her Favorites playlist on YouTube*

Alright, now that that's settled... Root beer! :D :D Thanks! I definitely will accept. :p

Oh, mysterious PM's... you have no idea. *cough* O:) Um, yeah. Anyways...

I'm craving ice cream and dark chocolate, but sadly, we have neither. *pours some of her root beer into virtual ice cream so as to make a root beer float*

I don't think I've ever posted in the Town Square this many times in rapid succession. It's fun! :) I guess this is what happens when I don't go into the chatroom. ;))

I should probably be outlining... ymwhisle
Oh well. ;))

*crawls out from her sleeping place under the chocolate tree and streeeeeeeetches* Drat! I missed Lady A again. :((

*splashes cold, fountain water on her face to chase away remaining drowsiness*

Happy Labor Day to you as well, Lady A! I hope this may mean an extra post or two. As for the book, I'm currently reading Great Expectations. I'm only on chapter four, so I don't know what to make of it yet...but I guess I'll see.

*noms on the the chocolate/caramel apple and truffles happy* :D

YES! Cor! Does the extra long weekend mean you'll be posting more, as well? *crosses fingers and toes*

Mmmmm, root beer! *takes a glass, but waits to sample until her chocolate is finished*

Glad to hear you've been doing well! It's so good to see you in here. I need to get to bugging you more..... ;)) I'm in the beginning chapters of Great Expectations. Have you read it? It's a school assignment, and since I enjoy reading anyway I decided to get a head start over the long weekend. :)

*sends a biiiiiiiig bear hug to Vern!*

Hurray for fall weather, Fireflower! The weather here has been topsy-turvy. Last week was in the 90's, yesterday was stormy, and today is in the 60's. *is eagerly anticipating the arrival of autumn*

I'm doing well, thanks for asking! :) I'm a little tired, after a long week of tests and work, but it's been fun - in it's own way. It's nice to be busy sometimes, especially after a lazy summer. :) As a reader for English class, I've been introduced to a lot of... uh.... 'interesting' writings. Though ---- I shouldn't say this :p --- marking them off does provide some pleasure at the end of a bad day. And they do give me plenty of laughs and groans! :p

Welcome to the world of the Town Square! ;) Or, what it used to be at any rate. There were a lot of late-night conversations, especially with Nick around.

*summons Nick again* Maybe Lady Luck will step in? *wistful sigh*

*enters the square somewhat woozily* Okay, I know that isn't a word (is it?), but the fact remains that it describes how I feel. :P I just drank some very strong coffee, and whether it was an effect of that, my head started spinning and I felt very weird. So I'm still recovering. :P
But I'm happy. I came home from church early, so I'm here alone (except for my Mom). And I heard today that a girl with which I have had a long and complicated relationship with, wants me to be the guest book attendant at her wedding. And that totally thrills me. :D
Oh, Miss R! I miss Aiden around here as well!! :(

Your birthday is tomorrow, Elanor? Best wishes to you! I hope your day is simply wonderful.

Thanks so much, I had a really good day! And Narniaweb was a big part of that.

So far, however, the weekends look promising for posting. Hurray!

Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
*waves to Cor and Mountie* Looks like you had a fun conversation on here! :P
By the way, Cor - did you ever do your Q&A video?
*waves to Jacqi* However long it's been, it's great to have you here once more! :)

......You do like chocolate?

Aw, how nice! I'm so glad to hear about the wedding. It's always lovely when friendships work out. Have you participated in a wedding before? :)

*thinks that Nick REALLY needs to come by now, and considers poking him into the Square*

Yes, I'm definitely with you that! NarniaWeb makes birthdays spectacular. :D

*goes to check on the mouse she recently rescued from her cat* I'll be around for a bit, if anyone else is.

*enters in between doing a plethora of various chores* You know you're a writer when this is your Sunday afternoon: Do a chore. Write a sentence. Do a chore. Write a sentence. Rinse, repeat, etc. :p

It's been raining quite a bit here as well, although today it's sunny and warm again. *sigh* I guess autumn isn't coming as fast as I thought it would. ;))

Thanks! I love this new/old version of the Square already. ;))
I miss him too! Maybe we should all send a group PM to bring him back? Or, even better, we should send him a bunch of PM's! ;)

Oh dear, strong coffee, Ela? ;)) That's kind of amusing. Well, not really. I know what the effects of coffee can be. 8-} I get jittery if I drink too much of it. *waves back*

I'll be around for a bit, as well, in between writing and mopping. ;)) The Town Square should provide a delightful diversion.

Bummer! According to the forecaster, we're going to be having very cool, breezy weather over the next few days. I hope he's right this time. ;)) *sends some nice, autumn air to Fireflower*

I'll remember that. :p So far, I've only been grading tests - but I feel for a couple of those kids. More like......ten of those kids. :-s

I'm excited that people are actually posting in here again! I love the Town Square, but it isn't as fun without the conversations it's known for.
And yes, I'm in favor of this idea. We should inundate his inbox with PMs. :p

Hello again! :D I'm back!!

*waves to the woozy Elanor* Afternoon! Oh dear, having some strange effects from the coffee are we? Eep. *plucks Elanor some truffles from the tree, since chocolate solves everything*

......You do like chocolate?

I'm thinking it was the coffee - or maybe it was just random? :P What a question to ask, Miss Rose dear!! Of COURSE I like chocolate. :P

Aw, how nice! I'm so glad to hear about the wedding. It's always lovely when friendships work out. Have you participated in a wedding before? :)

I know!! It thrilled me so much, I still cannot get over it. I've seen her maybe 2 or 3 times this year!!! We were "BFF"'s for a little while, though . . . she was with everyone she knew. :P No, this is the first time, so that doubles the excitement!! :D

I miss him too! Maybe we should all send a group PM to bring him back? Or, even better, we should send him a bunch of PM's! ;)

I think, this is an amazing idea!!! We should definitely do some Operation Flooding to him. :D

Oh dear, strong coffee, Ela? ;)) That's kind of amusing. Well, not really. I know what the effects of coffee can be. 8-} I get jittery if I drink too much of it. *waves back*

It is amusing. :P So go ahead and laugh. xDD I didn't even drink very much!!!!! But my Mom warned me that it was very strong, so that must have been it! :P
*settles down with a blanket, Owl Cities new CD, and her diary* :D
