*Lady Amalthea enters the Square through the chocolate tree*
Shhh, Narrator! It's supposed to be my secret passage!
*My apologies, m'lady.*
Forgiven. We have more important matters to attend to. Miss Rosario was kind enough to send a messenger regarding the chocolate tree. She is quite correct, I'm afraid: it's in a dreadful need of pruning. I'm just glad it hasn't melted in the recent heat wave. Oh well, time to work!
*Lady Amalthea quickly throws herself into her work and soon the tree is in excellent shape.*
Now, I'll just arrange the 14 baskets of chocolates on these tables that the fauns set up for us. They are always so kind and helpful!
*What about the other 23 baskets of chocolate?*
*oh*
I'm sure Vern will help... if I promise him some fresh salmon....
*Lady Amalthea steps to the fountain to rinse her hands. As she leans over the water, however, a familiar tail flips her fanny into the fountain! A wetter woman there never was in all of Archenland.*
*splutter* I see you've already given Vern some salmon, eh Narrator?
* * *Oh my, look at the time! We really should be going. And you might want to, um, freshen up a bit....?*
*Lady Amalthea heads back to the castle leaving a soppy trail and 23 baskets of chocolate.... .... that Vern quite happily retrieves (chuckling all the way, I might add).*
The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning. - Aslan
*wonders if Cep ever found Gorse*
*sits with Gorse in the Town Square. Quitely the sip acorn tea, enjoying a simpler moment*
They belong outside, not in a cage! Blah. Anyways. We'll see what happens. I'm kind of crossing my fingers and hoping he'll fly away somehow.
*Gorse waves and tips his head gently toward Aravanna and turns to Miss Rosario. "Raptors can be pretty obnoxious, Miss Rosario. Let the young lady handle it. Might lose a finger. So much for getting her way," and he adds, "Invite the young kestrel to Ditto Town. 'Cept we might lose a cat or two." Cep remains oblivious to the conversation next to Gorse, lost in the sweet smell of acorn tea and rudely ignores Mel, Aravanna, and Miss Rosario*
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
You mean the Queen? Or the one who became the queen?
The one who became the queen. The same actress played the part of a major villain in Harry Potter (if you don't know who Bellatrix is).
Lady A! Am I glad to see you! Hmm, does some sort of disaster always have to befall you though? Hope you didn't catch cold after your, ah, wetting.
Good idea, Gorse! I'll invite him.
P.S.
Happy Mod Day!

Dubbed The Ally Of Epic Awesomeness by Libby
Hello again, everyone. I'm sort of dragging my feet today as I did not sleep well last night. I woke up at around 4 in the morning, terrified from a nightmare in which I was driving away from a bunch of villainous people in a van that would go no faster than twenty miles an hour (and I didn't really know how to drive it on top of all that!). And then it was storming and hailing outside and that freaked me out too, because I thought I heard glass breaking...nothing was broken, but we do have a lot of big windows in our house. Sigh.
And then when I fell back asleep I dreamed I was trapped with Rapunzel in the tower baby sitting a bunch of rambunctious little boys and trying to keep Mother Gothel out. Strangeness. Maybe it was something I ate? Or perhaps it was watching Foyle's War? Must be. That's it--no more murder mysteries and cucumbers right before bed.
Anyhow...how have you all been doing? It's been a while since I got on. I don't really have a proper excuse, except that our family only has one computer and I haven't really felt like fighting my siblings for it long enough to write a post. But I'm here now.
Aside from having strange dreams and watching Foyle's War, I've been doing a lot of reading...I've got this somewhat weighty list of books to read this month. Okay, it's really only four books, but one of them happens to be the Confessions of St. Augustine and that is a weighty book--good, but weighty. I'm a little over half way through with it now. Yay!
It's good to see so many people on here now! Seems I missed a very important day yesterday--Mod Appreciation Day!! I especially want to "shout out" to johobbit because she was one of the first mods I met on the Square and the first mod to become a very good friend/aunt/mentor and all other general titles of awesomeness.
I also want to especially thank ValiantArcher or Valia. You and WinterStar were the first ones to introduce me to NarniaWeb and show me the ropes around here. Thank you so much!! And then it's always nice to have people on here to "squee" about FMA with me and make a bunch of graphics.
To all the other mods, thanks a ton!!!
Now...it seems I have a little bit of ketchup around here. Anyone have some fries?
Awww. You should come visit at the beginning of one of the winter months, and I can introduce you to a lot of people who memorize. I'm involved with a program called Bible Quizzing, which encourages teenagers to memorize whole chapters/books from the New Testament. I think it's great, because, like you mentioned, it's one thing to read a book of the Bible, but it's something else entirely to spend six or more months immersed with every word.
That's so cool!! I know several study groups in our church have done things like that, but we don't really have an organized club or anything for it. I've been memorizing Hebrews along with Mathew Henry's commentaries. His commentaries are really helpful and enlightening...though sometimes they can be a bit difficult to wade through.
By next spring, I'd like to have all of Hebrews and 1&2 Peter, but like I said I'm not doing too well at all. If you want, I'd love to do some sort of accountability thing to stay motivated and working on it.
Wow! That's a big goal! I haven't really set a time goal for memorizing Hebrews. I just know I want to memorize the whole thing. 1 & 2 Peter are great books to memorize. I probably want to do those sometime too. I've already got several verses from both books memorized. You know, that would be really, really helpful having someone to keep me accountable! My sort of routine is to work on memory at least twice a week, if not more. By the end of this month, I'm hoping to have all of Chapter 2 memorized. How about you PM me and we can work something out?
I read the first book in the Raven King Trilogy because the premise sounded absolutely fantastic. It didn't live up to the expectations I had for it, but people keep telling me I should give it a second chance.
Really? That's too bad. I sort of felt that way about his Pendragon Cycle, but I thought the King Raven Trilogy was pretty clever. What was it about it that you didn't like? I just finished the second book and I think I like it better than the first. It has a lot more plot development and character development with Bran, the Robin Hood character, though its main focus of course is on Will Scarlet. I felt like overall, the second book made the characters more endearing as it showed more of the friendship between them all.
Princess Anna! Good to see you on the Square! I can definitely sympathize with you, I'm horrible as well about keeping up with things. It's nice to have things slow down for a change.
I hope your VBS goes well! Our church is getting ready to do summer VBS as well. I'll be praying for you all!
*giggles at our Ruby-Winter post* That 'twas a fun adventure! It's been a while since we've managed one of our antics.
Queen Susan! Congratulations!! You're an aunt now! Can we all call you "Auntie Sue" now? I know the feeling, wanting to have your siblings get married. I wish some of my older sisters would hurry up and get married...though it's definitely not something that can be rushed and often times 'tis impossible to accomplish when a guy is lacking. Sigh.
And now I need to finish writing, practice piano and violin, read, and maybe sew and bake.
*giggles* You know this line makes me think of Rapunzel from Tangled? Love that movie! Speaking of which, I need to practice the piano too. I've been avoiding it, because I have a bunch of complicated scales to work on.
And which graphics are we talking about? The old ones with the sunset over the marsh or the red dahlia? Either way, thanks, but all I did was find a nice picture and crop it.
I'm pretty sure I was referring to the ones you have right now. It's a very beautiful picture.
Let's hope some more folk will drop by, now that it's summer. Weirdly, though, I always have trouble posting catch up posts. I keep putting it off, since it's summer, and..... it never happens. I'm so lazy. Ha.
Haha! Yes, that is exactly what I've been doing the last few days.
Hmm, I've never heard of the King Raven Trilogy. What's it about?
It's a re-telling of the Robin Hood legend, based in Whales during the Norman Conquest of Britain. I can't really tell you much more about it without spoiling too much. It's not really like any other Robin Hood story. It's definitely a bit darker and the plot is a little more intricate, but the character development in the story is very good and the author is a Christian and the Christian influence really shines through...here's the official site for his books: http://www.stephenlawhead.com/king-raven-trilogy.html.
I finished the Harry Potter series. I think I finished it in April, I read through them so fast! The last two were especially good and I can't wait to see the last movie!! Deathly Hallows part 1 was soooo good!!!
*applauses to Munchtime with Malcaroon and Muffin* Very entertaining!!
Oh and don't worry about impersonating *coughRubyWintershowcough* We understand...our genius *coughnonexistentgeniuscough*is a bit contagious.
Thanks for the congrats! Sure, here you go... *passes some fries and ketchup to Ruby*
You're welcome! And thank you for the fries. *munch munch*
I'm glad your brother is doing better! Ooh! You're an Andrew Peterson fan! I love that song, although my favourite is "In the Night." Have you read his books?
Thank you! We were so touched by all the prayers and support everyone gave us and him.
Oh! That's awesome! A lot of people haven't really heard of Andrew Peterson, which is sad, because his music is sooo creative! We have his albums, Love and Thunder, Carried Along, Counting Stars, Resurrection Letters II, Behold The Lamb Of God, and Far Country. AND we have his books On The Edge Of the Dark Sea of Darkness and North! Or be Eaten. I've read the first one, but no the second one yet! I think he's one of the best authors of childrens' books ever! I think he's writing a third book...
*waves to Elanor, stargazer, ceppault and maria (welcome to the Square!! )*
Well, that's all for now! I must be off! God bless!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind thoughts and words for Mod Appreciation Day! It's an honor to be part of a community with such high-quality members.
Just had an amusing incident...I opened the refrigerator and a bottle of salad dressing fell out. The cap opened when it hit the floor and shot Thousand Island dressing several feet across the floor.
Wow, stargazer. 55 years is a long time. I imagine that must be a job moving everything out!
That's for sure! Several siblings and their families came down and helped out, so that made it go a little faster. And it was fun to see everyone again.
Now to go write another post for Supernova!
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Interesting, I'll have to see if it's at the library! *adds it to the ever-growing To Read list*
Ooh, you finished Harry Potter! Hurray! I absolutely loved Deathly Hallows; there were so many twists and turns at the end, but I thought the final conclusion was fabulous. Even though about half of my favorite characters ended up dead. *sulks* Who were your favorites, when all was said and done?
And yes, Deathly Hallows part 1 was amaazing. Have you seen the new trailer yet?
Haha! Yes, that is exactly what I've been doing the last few days.
Weeelllllllll...... it's summer. We have an excuse.

Oh dear, that reminds me of something that happened to my friend the other day. He was trying to shake some ranch dressing onto his salad, and it wouldn't come out. So he lifted it up to look inside, and it all came out onto his face. Such a mess.

Well, minus kissing Carrie Fisher's mom at the beginning....
Anyway, y'all are probably wondering what could bring on this little outburst of musical-ness from me. Well.... IT'S RAINING!!!!
Currently our state is in a drought (officially), so getting a pleasant summer rain is muchly needed. Plus with a tad of rumbling thi=under in the background... *sigh*
I hope and trust all the SquareOnions are doing well. Don't have time for a catch-up post now, but I'll be back around soon.
Farewell all!

Yay for rain, Cor! A cool rain after a drought is so refreshing.
*runs after the dancing, sodden Cor and hauls him back through the gate* Don't go now!

Wow, ranch dressing in the face, Miss Rosario. I'm sorry; I chuckled at that. But I can only imagine what that must have felt like.
Ugh, now I have "Singin' in the Rain" stuck in my head. 'Tis appropriate, though, as I live in the part of the country where we're getting too much rain. The Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers are still flooding near where I live, though farm lands are most affected by too much rain. Unfortunately, that's all flowing downstream, where they don't need the flooding. I wish I could send some of this down to your part of the country, Prince Cor.
I quite enjoyed reading Lady Amalthea's recent royal post in this thread. The royal family all add so much to the Town Square.
*grabs some of the chocolate off the tree and vanishes, waving to all the SquareOnions on the way out*
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
*Ruby wanders into the Square and takes a seat on a bench beneath the chocolate tree*
Thank you, Cor, for bringing that song up. I'm now depressed because I've got it stuck in my head, but it isn't raining any time soon around here!!
That musical is actually one of my favorite musicals. I've always got something musical stuck in my head.
*glances curiously at Miss R trying to drag the prince back into the Square*

Why of all questions did you have to ask that one? I will now be up all day and night trying to think of an answer! GAAAH!
I really love all the characters, but my favorite characters would probably be the Weasley family. I love Harry and Hermione too, but if you think about it, Harry wouldn't be Harry without the Weasleys.
Well I need to be off now to get dressed.

*gets dragged back into the Square by an over enthusiastic redhead...*
Well, I'm not rain drenched now, Little Red. And I've returned as promised... O.K, enough with the pulling of the jacket! It's vintage after all.
*Really Cor, you need to learn how to control your temper. It may be the death of you yet, especially when dealing with lovely young ladies of the Square. *
..... ... Eh, you're probably right Vern. As usual.
*Of course! When have I ever steered you wrong? *
Well, there was that time when you told me to go into that cave by the loch and shout "green slimy stench" 5 times fast....
* heh... I'm not sure what you mean there. Anyway, um... lets just forget that previous statement, yes?
..... maybe.
* *
Anyway, catch-up!!!
------------------------
@ Rose. Indeed! (about the rain) Unfortunately, it's hot and humid again now. More rain is suppose to blow in by Wed though.
@ Gazer. Oh dear! I hope your safe and sound from the flooding. Yes, please try and send some of the rain down here! Do you think maybe Dr. Who or someone could lend you a rain transporting device or something?
@ Ruby. Umm.... your welcome? Well, you can get a sprinkler system and pretend it's rain... though it will be coming from the ground.
Heh, I've actually never seen it. I need to watch it someday.

*braves a peek out the NarniaWelcome window onto the town square*
Hi...I'm new here, and evidently tongue tied! Want to introduce myself but not sure where to start, so I took a look around the square. Seems like a good place to start wandering through NWeb! But soooo much to see, so I think I'll just keep looking.
At any rate um...I'm Jacqi, and I enjoy connecting with people who like to write and read and think and maybe even disagree (though civilly is always preferred). I've known about NWeb for a loooooong time, but only recently decided if I'm ever going to get online here, I've got to do it NOW! Summers are always good for those types of adventures.
Nice to meet you all, and hope to get to know you more as time goes by.
Want to introduce myself but not sure where to start, so I took a look around the square.
This is as good as place as any, Jacqui. Welcome to Narniaweb and Town Square. A little bird mentioned your presence and I felt it important to come by my old haunt and help you feel right at home.
You already seem to have a good idea what to do. I don't read much anymore. I do write quite a bit but only in a certain format. You most certainly shall find others of similar interests.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
Hello and welcome to the Square, Jacqi! 'Tis a friendly place and I'm sure you'll fit right in.
You may already know about the Books and Writers World threads over in the Spare Oom, where we discuss our reading and writing adventures, respectively.
Do you think maybe Dr. Who or someone could lend you a rain transporting device or something?
Never quite thought of it that way, but as I understand it the newest version of the TARDIS does have a swimming pool so perhaps it could be used to transport some of this extra liquid your way. (In fact, more rain, possibly heavy, is forecast for overnight tonight. Nice way to welcome in summer tomorrow ).
*waves to ceppault and the other denizens of the Square before departing to catch up elsewhere on the forum*
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
