Hellooooo again! :D
This week is so busy. Yesterday I was away all day, going to the dentist, food shopping, and looking at houses with my Mom. And then I got home and had to eat in 15 minutes, and rush off to rehearsal. And then, it started hailing bigger than golf ball hail. Literally. Fun, and scary. When it started hailing, we pulled off into a driveway, and under a (small) tree. All of a sudden, this Amish guy came rushing past in his bike, and into the little barn thing in front of us. And then he was motioning for us to come in, so as not to get dented. And we all started shrieking "Should we? Should we?". :P
But it was letting up, so we kept driving for two minutes, until it suddenly started REALLY hailing. So we pulled under another tree, and sat there for 15 minutes, until it finally let up.
So I was 15 minutes late for my rehearsal, and had to guess at the first section of the dance we were doing. :P Difficult.
Tomorrow I'm going to go to a Regency ball; and I'm helping with the setting up, so I have to be there are noon. :(( The next day I'm going to a baseball game. And the next day I'll be gone all day in town, going to church, and playing sports.
:D Now for catchup.

*waves to Winterstar and Ceppault*
Oh goodness, Queen Susan; being blind sounds awful! :P I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy your trip to it's fulness.

Well good for you! Being in the final 6 must have been fun!

Thank you; it was really fun! :D

I’m not making fun, just taking advantage of your typo for a well placed pun. And I guarantee my posts have more typos than yours. :P Feel free to point them out.

lol, I was just joking. Take all the advantage you want at my bad spelling, to make puns. :P

And speaking of Jane Austin and reading her, I’m about to start Northanger Abby for the first time. I have no idea what to expect, but I hear to makes fun of the Gothic Romance Novels that were plentiful in Jane’s time so it should be a blast. :P Who all has read that one?

That was probably my least favorite of Austen's works; it was just so boring. People say that they laugh and laugh, because of how it made fun of the Gothic Romance Novels, but I just (-| . :P

Elanor, I feel like an idiot now. I was thinking you were trying out for Anne of Green Gables. It also has orphans way at the beginning so I figured you had a teeny tiny part. :P (I was also surprised to learn it was a musical. Ha ha, I'd love to hear Anne sing about smashing a slate over Gilbert's head.)

lol, that's perfectly all right, I can understand your mistake. :P Nope, it's ANNIE! :P lol, that would be funny musical!

Good mortereve, all! I'm down in Missouri with my aunt for several weeks, so I haven't had the time for a catchup post.

Phew, the weather has been hot, hot, hot! In the nineties, mostly. I'm okay with heat, providing that there is no humidity. Ninety-degree weather is bearable as long as it isn't damp and sticky too. Fortunately, it's been fairly dry here -- yay! We all went out for ice cream this afternoon, which was a nice treat.

Another bit of news: my cousin found three baby American kestrels on the ground several days ago, having fallen out of their nest. He took them inside (so the six outdoor cats wouldn't eat them) and has been feeding and exercising them ever since. Two flew away yesterday, and the remaining one is getting stronger by the hour. Unfortunately, our other cousin arrived this afternoon. She fell in love with the little guy, and, since she's used to getting anything she wants, she's convinced her parents to take the bird home with them as a pet. I'm unhappy about that, as the bird is perfectly capable to fly and survive on his own. Also, the parents are nearby; I'm sure he would be fine if released . But no, the girl wants to keep him. Maybe it's just me, but I HATE it when wild animals are kept as pets. They were born free, and their place is in the wild. They belong outside, not in a cage! Blah. Anyways. We'll see what happens. I'm kind of crossing my fingers and hoping he'll fly away somehow. ;))

Oh wow!! I'm not sure I really envy you. Are you going to be all alone?

Haha, it turned out to be not bad at all. It was a beautiful day. The actual distance was 8.3, which suited me just fine. I thought I might not make it the last two miles (when I was assuming we were walking 10 miles), but I didn't have to walk them at all. :D There were thirty four people walking, and we kind of split up into smaller groups. My little brother walked with me, and we walked with a lady from the area. She told us about the different places were walking through. :)

Ah, a new episode of the Ruby-Winter show! :D I'm so sorry to hear about your announcer troubles. :p

*wonders if Cep ever found Gorse*

-I start a writing class tomorrow. It's with other homeschoolers, but I'm sort of dreading it.

How's that going for you? And I know you enjoy writing, so why are you worried?

Ara, I've read Northanger Abbey. I thought the first half was hilarious--the tone is similar to a well-written parody fanfic (and I believe that's really what it is, even though it's a classic itself now...) I didn't 'get' the second half, I'm sure mostly because I'm not familiar with the Gothic novels. ;)) But my sister read it too and she didn't think it was all that funny. She likes P&P and S&S better.

*also likes John Denver* But I prefer the slower, sadder songs. ;))

MissRosario, isn't it also illegal to keep a wild bird like a kestrel? I agree that it'd be better for the bird to be wild and free.

Here's the catchup. :)

How has your mouth been feeling, wild rose? Did the adjustment help? I hope so! I have retainers too. Ugh. :|

I know, Ruby. Let's hope some more folk will drop by, now that it's summer. Weirdly, though, I always have trouble posting catch up posts. I keep putting it off, since it's summer, and..... it never happens. I'm so lazy. Ha.

Hmm, I've never heard of the King Raven Trilogy. What's it about?

Yup, Elanor, I've definitely read P&P! Surprisingly, though, I've never gotten around to reading any of Austen's other books, aside from Persuasion (which I love). I really need to start reading more; I just don't have the motivation to do anything these days.

I agree! The King's Speech is such an inspiring story. Though, I have to confess.... I never liked the king's wife. I kept seeing Bellatrix and expected her to whip out a wand at any moment and kill someone. :p

Mel, I can wear the pajama pants as long as I have a long shirt to pull down over the weird part. :p They aren't terrible, they're just..... strange. I have no clue where I messed up.

The King's Speech is a spectacular story! Frankly, I'm surprised it was rated R. There was only one main scene where the language was bad, and even then the it wasn't used carelessly (like it usually is in movies these days). It was related to his speech problem. Anyways. Hope you're able to see it soon, in any case!

Yay! It's a Ruby&Winter post! You guys should make your own account. Or is that illegal?
Sorry to hear about your announcer. Are you hiring? ;)

By the way, Ruby, where are you at in the Harry Potter series? Are you finished by now? :D

*waves to Cep and Gorse!*

How did the writing class go, QS? And wow! That vacation sounds great! Have you visited any other National Parks other then those mentioned?

Ara, I love "Leaving on a Jet Plane"! I also like "Sunshine on my Shoulder".

I think it is illegal, Mel. ....Or if not, it should be. ;))

Maria! Hi. :D

(Disclaimer: This show is in no way meant to impersonate, copy, or replace a certain other show in the Square or the posters. *coughRubyandWintercough* It just so happens that great minds think alike! :D Also, this show can be very random. Viewer discretion is advised.)

And now it's time for Munchtime with Malcaroon and Muffin!

We should probably re-introduce ourselves, Muffin. Hello Square Ones! I'm Malcaroon, better known as Malkah or Mal, and once upon a time, I used to come in here.

Used to, meaning once upon a time. The case is the same for me. I'm Muffin, better known as MountainFireflower, or, if it pains you to type such a long username, you can call me Mountie. I too am a Square Onion. *sniffs the air* It's good to be back.

Seeing as our cooking expertise is unparalleled, and there's no place quite like the Square, we thought here would be the perfect spot to host our show.

*laughs* It sounds so vain, but so true. Now, we are here in our floppy hats to demonstrate our very amazing soup recipe. Because yes, we are JUST that awesome.

*flops floppy hat* So we are. Now today, in honor of all you Square Onions, we'll be introducing a brand-new gourmet recipe...*drumroll* Square Soup. You all are the very first to behold this amazingness. Are you feeling proud? You should be.

I am feeling proud. Very proud. So proud that I can't contain myself any longer! *ahem* Where were we? Square Soup, yes. Now, our first ingredient we have here is one of my favorites. Let me just get my frying pan... while I do that, why don't you tell them about our next ingredient, Mal?

Alright, our first ingredient is going to be one of my favorites. The Square Potato. You can find lots of these at your local grocery store. Now, take a BIG knife--any sword you have lying around will do--and chop your potatoes. You're going to need them in bite-sized pieces, so really whack!

Whack hard! Whack strong! Whack completely! Make sure--*oof*--that the potatoes--*grunt*--are completely--*crack*--DEAD! And then, once you're done with that. You'll want to put them in your frying pan. Now, you don't usually cook soup in a frying pan, but these--these are really versatile. They do EVERYTHING. You can whack strange men with them and use them to cook food! Who knew, right? I've also heard you can use them to clean your bathroom, but I haven't tried that yet.

Cleaning the bathroom with a frying pan? Oy. I don't think I want to know the story behind that one. Okay! Once your potatoes are nice and dead and in your multi-purpose frying pan, the next ingredient we're going to add is a little ketchup! Why? Weeeell, because potatoes make french fries, and everyone knows that french fries are better with ketchup. We like to think logically around here.

Logic... what do they teach kids in schools these days? Now, you want to mix the ketchup in really well, so much so that it is a giant mix of potato-ketchupy goodness. As Samwise Gamgee would say, "Mash 'em, Boil 'em, stick 'em in a stew!"

Now I'm getting french fry cravings, Muffin. Can we call intermission and dash to the nearest McDonald's?

McDonald's? Of course! Let's just leave this soup to simmer for a while, and we'll be back later for part 2. Don't miss us too much while we're gone! ;)

*Ara sneaks into the Town Square and steals the obligatory piece of sweet potato before the recipe is done, because tasting the recipe in progress is way more fun than… *coughcoughcough* *

*Ahem*… that’s *cough* ketchupy. It’s good, it’s good. *ahem* I like it.

Anyhow, nothing like Mystery Science Theater 3000 to rot the brain for the evening. I want that time back (and my destroyed synapses.) I'm trying to recover by listening to Two Steps From Hell and chatting with you fine folks.

Also, a massive line of storms is heading for me right now. Woot!

Elanor are you going to move into a new house soon? Is that why you're house shopping. And hail can be quite scary. It’s right behind tornados for me since it tears up all my plants. :P It sounds like you had a fun adventure hiding from it though. I like that Amish guy already.

That was probably my least favorite of Austen's works; it was just so boring. People say that they laugh and laugh, because of how it made fun of the Gothic Romance Novels, but I just (-| .

Maybe I should read a gothic romance novel before proceeding any farther, just for good measure. Then I might understand all the jokes and parodies. So far Northhanger Abby mildly amusing. It’s like an inside joke I understand, but wasn’t a part of, so I can't really laugh at it. Caroline still in Bath by the way and have met a few people.

I'm kind of crossing my fingers and hoping he'll fly away somehow.

I share your opinion! And yes, keeping birds of prey as pets is illegal. You might want to mention that fact. The situation makes me think of this funny book my mom used to read to us kids when we were very young called “An Owl and Three Pussycats.” The children in the book lived on a farm and raised a baby owl and three kittens of course. There’s a quote in the book: “You can never really own an owl” and: “You can never really own a cat. Very true.

And you’re in Missouri? Missouri loves company as they say in Kansas. :P Welcome to the Midwest.

Mel tell me again why you all went on that walk? It sounds like it was lots and lots of fun! I enjoy walking although it’s usually not anywhere close to 8 miles distance.

Which John Denver songs are your favorite than?

Glad you figured out our insanity Maria! Feel free to join in any time. ;)

I agree! The King's Speech is such an inspiring story. Though, I have to confess.... I never liked the king's wife. I kept seeing Bellatrix and expected her to whip out a wand at any moment and kill someone.

I wonder… if I were to watch Harry Potter now if I would keep seeing Queen Elizabeth and expect her to get a speech therapist for Voldemort?

That said, I really loved “The King’s Speech” although it wasn’t a pleasant movie to watch. Just very real and painful and triumphal.

Sorry I've been absent from the Square of late. I'm helping my parents move to an apartment, and after 55 years in the same house there's a lot of stuff to go through! ;))

But it's been fun spending time with a couple siblings who've also come down to help.

...In the nineties, mostly. I'm okay with heat, providing that there is no humidity. Ninety-degree weather is bearable as long as it isn't damp and sticky too.

Too true, too true, high humidity makes it a lot harder to handle. It was 99F two days in a row here earlier this week - not much, perhaps, for southern NarniaWebbers, but in these here parts we're better known for being cold. And 'twas really hot to be moving stuff in...especially when the car's AC went out. ;)) It's much cooler now - highs around 65F. Ahhh, so much better for moving and general comfort.

Welcome to the Square, Maria! This is the place for general conversation on the forum. It's a great way to get to know other NarniaWebbers.

Well, this is the place for me. Completely random :) I apologize ahead of time for my lack of knowing how to quote sentences at a time and bolding words. Quite sorry. Heh.
It has been insanely hot here, too! Mostly in the upper-nineties all week long. Luckily, I get to stay indoors most of the time.
And I just realized I have absolutely nothing interesting to write. This tends to happen. My life is rather boring.
Oh well. Something will happen sooner or later!

*Cor and Vern enter the Square*

Mortereve all! :D I have some exciting news!!! I now have.... my drivers license!!!!! :D :D/ ;)) Cue the barrage of new driver jokes and friendly jabs... :p ;)

*The roads around here will never be safe now...*

Ahem, I didn't mean you Vern.... :-w

*Sorry. Couldn't resist.... ;)) *

Alright, time for catch-up:
-----------------------------------
@ Gazer. Mmmhmm, the humidity is thankfully less out where we live, but in town it's AWFUL. #:-s Thankfully the humidity has gone down over the past week. Still amazingly hot, though. :-s

Aw, thanks! :) I've had a lot of fun writing for Supernova, reminds me of Unilluminated (R.I.P).

@ Mel. Ello! *waves back* How have things been in your neck of the woods? :)

*Vern returns a dragon-y wave to Mel*

@ Rose. Oh... sorry to hear about your depression bout. :( Glad you're O.K now, though!

Hopefully I'll be able to bring the Royal Parents in next visit. ;) I haven't seen Horsie around lately, though.... :-

*Haha! I'm quite pleased to report my tapestry destroying days are over. ;) Most recently I've been helping Lady A around the castle a bit and keeping an eye on Cor. You know, the poor lad gets into all sorts of trouble... :| *

Also enjoys the groups/artist previously mentioned as well as more "rock" groups of the same time

@ Ruby. Thanks for the congrats! :D Sure, here you go... *passes some fries and ketchup to Ruby*

@ Ela. Lol, you are pardoned, miss. ;)

@ Cep. Greetings! Tis good to see your familiar avatar face around here again. :) :)

@ Ara. I shall watch my tongue from here out, then. Or have Vern do it for me. ;) The Royal's fair well, thanks. :) We have been keeping busy with our various jobs, but overall doing well.

*Same here. It takes a lot of energy looking after Cor. Though don't tell him I said that... :-$ *

Glad you liked it. It's one of my favorite pieces from the 2001 album. :) It's also amazing to think that all of those sounds were created with orchestral instruments, no synths or electronic enhancement.

Heh, but wasting time is so much fun... :p College is good. Some classes I've really enjoyed, while others I'm glad to get through with. Namely math.... :p

@ Maria. Greetings and welcome to the Square! :D My name is PrinceCor, though most people call me Cor. And this is my close friend and pet dragon, Vern.

*Greetings miss. Tis lovely to see a new face around the Square. :)*

----------------------------------

Well, I think that gets everything. I believe we are about to go visit the grandparents as well usually do on Sundays....

Hope everyone has a great Sunday! :D

*Cor and Vern exit the Square*

Avvie by the great Djaq!

Rosa, it's kind of funny. We were talking about The King's Speech at lunch today. I suppose if we keep talking about it, we'll eventually watch it. ;))

Ooh, does the Square get a food network now? :D *likes this new show* Munchies are always a good subject. Also, it's been too long since you guys visited. ;)

Ara, it was a fundraiser for the Teens for Christ organization. :) You'd get people to sponsor you, and you had to raise over a certain amount to participate.

Let's see... My Sweet Lady and Fly Away are my favourites. I also like Calypso, so it's not all slow and melancholy. :p

Congrats on the license to drive, Cor. :) Things are pretty quiet around here at the moment. Work is more or less as usual, and now that the weather has swung back to the pleasanter side of the spectrum... I think I am slowly becoming a bit of a baseball fan. I can recognize most of the starting lineup for the Twins now. ;))

Welcome to the Square, Maria. Feel free to just kind of jump in to the conversations.

My dad and I did mention that, but they didn't want to believe us I guess. Eh. The bird and the girl are gone now, in any case. :( "You can never really own a cat." Ha! That's so true. ;))

I wonder… if I were to watch Harry Potter now if I would keep seeing Queen Elizabeth and expect her to get a speech therapist for Voldemort?

Hmm I doubt it. :p Bellatrix is a villain like no other. (But LOL. Speech therapist for Voldemort. =)) )

Wow, stargazer. 55 years is a long time. I imagine that must be a job moving everything out!

Mel, My Sweet Lady is one of my favorites as well. I also like Follow Me and Perhaps Love.

Hello all!
I have to say, it's wonderful to see Town Square moving along so fast. Warms me old heart. :P
So I have been busy this weekend. The Ball was absolutely wonderful; I had a great time, though I got really, really sore from standing up and dancing all night. There were a lot of people I had never met before there, and that made it very interesting. :D
Mel, your walk sounded like a lot of fun! :D But . . why exactly did you do it? :P Was it some fundraiser, or something?

up, Elanor, I've definitely read P&P! Surprisingly, though, I've never gotten around to reading any of Austen's other books, aside from Persuasion (which I love). I really need to start reading more; I just don't have the motivation to do anything these days.

If you enjoyed the two that you read (and they're are some of my favorites!), you should really read S&S, and Emma. They're both really, really good. :)

I agree! The King's Speech is such an inspiring story. Though, I have to confess.... I never liked the king's wife. I kept seeing Bellatrix and expected her to whip out a wand at any moment and kill someone. :p

You mean the Queen? Or the one who became the queen? :)

Elanor are you going to move into a new house soon? Is that why you're house shopping. And hail can be quite scary. It’s right behind tornados for me since it tears up all my plants. :P It sounds like you had a fun adventure hiding from it though. I like that Amish guy already.

Our house is for sale, and yes, we're hoping to move sometime soon. Not very far away, but it should be a nice change. :) lol, yes the Amish guy was really nice. :D

Maybe I should read a gothic romance novel before proceeding any farther, just for good measure. Then I might understand all the jokes and parodies

That is actually a really good idea. xD

Good Mortereve everyone! It is hot here. Temperatures have been over 100 almost every day for the past couple of weeks. Other than that, my life has been pretty much normal. Summer school started last week, so that's keeping me sort of busy. And I'm counting down the days until I move. It's a weird feeling knowing that I'm growing up and will soon be leaving my parent's house. I'm excited, 'cause I know I'm going to love the university life, but I am going to miss home.

And now....CATCHUP!

It's one of those invisible ones that are teeth shaped, and click onto your teeth, instead of one of those metal ones. I'm getting a new one too, so I don't know what that one will be like. The one I'm wearing now is just a temp retainer.

Oh you lucky! Mine is metal and plastic and when I'm wearing it I have a slight lisp so my little sister is always teasing me. But I tease her back so it's all good. ;)) Have you got your new one yet?

*waves to Gigi* Welcome to the Square! :) I'm generally called Dot, or Dotty, or dotk around here. Just pick whichever one strikes your fancy!

*waves to Ruby* I'm glad your brother is doing better! Ooh! You're an Andrew Peterson fan! I love that song, although my favourite is "In the Night." Have you read his books?

Hullo, wild rose! Welcome to the Square! Don't worry, now that you've made the first step, the rest is easy. Just jump in on a conversation or two and you'll feel at home in no time! :)

*hugs PA* How was VBS? Between work and school I haven't helped at VBS in ages, but I sure miss being able to!

*waves to stargazer, Aravanna, and Elanor*

By the way, I love your avatar. I just watched Tangled for the first time several weeks ago. Cute movie!

Thank you! My sisters and I are just a little obsessed with that movie. We played the songs on Youtube almost every day after we saw the movie in the theaters. ;)) And Mom gave me the DVD as a graduation present. B-)

*curtsies to Cor and Vern* Conga-rats on finishing your first year of college! May your second year be just as good! And congratulations on getting your driver's license!

*waves to Mel* I haven't seen The King's Speech yet either (although I really, really want to!). But it's probably not most of my siblings cup of tea. I read the Raven King Trilogy last year. It was better than some, but not as good as others. However, while I only liked the first book, I really liked the second, and the third was somewhere in between the two.

*giggles after watching (reading?) the Ruby-Winter show* Announcers are so hard to please, aren't they?

*waves to Cep* Have you found Gorse?

*waves to Queen Susan* My goodness! I'm glad you're eyes are alright now.

*waves to Maria* Welcome to the Square! Glad you got this place figured out. :) We're so random (but fun!) in here, sometimes I don't think I have the Square figured out. ;)) Anyhow, I'm Dot, or Dotty, or dotk. Call me by whichever one strikes your fancy!

*watches Munchtime with interest; wonder when the Square Soup concoction will be finished; ponders whether or not sneaking a bite before it is done will go unnoticed; greatly admires Mal and Mountie's chopping skills; and wonders where they got such floppily-awesome floppy hats*

...end catchup.

*liberally applies sunscreen to her face before diving into the pool where she swims a few laps in an attempt to cool off and then picks a few chocolates from the chocolate tree to munch on on her way home*

Ta-ta for now!
