Mortereve Y'all!!!

How goes it with everyone on this cloudy, but beautiful mortereve?

Ah, that's fine. Next time I'll try to make it more clear or just skip it.

Not a problem. I'll try to pay more attention. Usually when I see emoticons I can tell if a person is joking, but I must have missed it.

Lu, you really should read the books. They are really good. There are some thing you just can't put on film.

Ithilwen, if we wanted to be technical we would call Lord of the Rings a "book" cause it is only one book, but most people have split the different parts into different books. ;)
That is funny though cause, like you said, it was a typo. :)

*laughs at Ithilwen's view of this world* The Crazy and messed up part.

I'm actually surprised there aren't more Aragorn lovers out there. I mean, how can you go wrong with Viggo? I know they messed his caricature up, but.....

The biggest flaw in the movies....gosh this irks me so...is that Gollum managed to make Frodo believe Sam was against him at Mt Doom. I was SOO mad about that.

I didn't have a huge problem with Gimli, but I didn't like Galadriel. I didn't like the movie adaption of any part of Lothlorian. It's not in the book though. Well...it's portrayed differently. *thought for a moment she lost her entire post* Another thing that I didn't like was how in the book they kept the ring a secret. No one could see it unless they had to, whereas in the movies they were like "lets show the whole world the ring". And everyone was tempted by it. In the books some people were, but not every person Frodo met tried to take it from him. That wasn't the way it was.

Welcome to the Square Radagast! 'tis always good to have another in company. The more the merrier. :)

I would have to agree with you about Merry and Pippin, not that it wasn't funny in the movies, but yeah they were more serious in the books.

You forgot some of my favorite "M" words: medieval, marshmallow, meteor, moonlight, and magical! Oh, and M&Ms! ;))

:-o So I did! I believe I also forgot monotone, mystery, miasma, mimosa, myrtle, madding, madder, mother, mimeograph, and minute. Ah, 'm' is a moderate letter, but mighty in something-or-other. ;)

I am working in fits and spurts on a painting of Fingolfin. :D It's a reworking of a rather old picture of mine.

How about you? Done anything else inspiring with your markers? I think that inspiration always strikes when it is least convenient for it to do so. I know I always have the best ideas while I'm supposed to be going to sleep. If I wrote them all down, I'd never sleep. ;))

*promises Lady A that she will not tell anyone about the secret passage inside the chocolate tree* Well, I won't tell anyone intentionally. But I might have to try it out myself... 'tis such a novel concept, routes through trees. It reminds me of when I was young and one of the stories that was supposed to exercise my skills was about a man who drove along a road that went strange places... over barns and through trees. ;))

Me, laughing at someone's snowy misfortune? Preposterous! Must have been one of those especially miniony minions. ;;) ;)

Right. It must have been. Probably wasn't aimed at me anyway and I just happened to get in the way. :p

Hello! :)
Well.. *clears throat* How is everyone? *waves*
Nothing really exciting has been happening on this side of the screen, of late. I'm trying to do some animation, I found it very interesting, so that's about it. And it's a new year! :D I wonder what it will be like.

Well, I'll be around.

We-we other-character lovers will have to stick together, okay Lucy of Narnia? Don't leave me alone in this crazy messed-up world!!!!

( ;)) )

Of course we must! They doesn't understand, does they precious???

(BTW, who else likes poor Smeagol??)

On the other hand I did NOT like the way they portrayed Frodo in the movies. They made him to wimpy. He was not a wimp at all in the books. In the movies he was the cute blue eyed hobbit who couldn't do anything for himself, and that's not who he was in the books.

Well, I haven't read the books yet, and w/ the movie as my first venture into Middle Earth, I have to say that book-Frodo is more boring, older and quiet. *crosses arms*

I'm so glad I decided to join this thread! :) You guys are all so nice, and it's so fun talking to you all and goofing around. :) (And yes, I was just goofing around when I said all the semi-insulting stuff above, haha. :P 8-} ) I'm really a nice person... *sniff*... Don't look at me like that anymore...

=)) Yeah, goofing- that explainss my previous Gollum post! :D

Lu, you really should read the books. They are really good. There are some thing you just can't put on film.

I will! :D And then I will come back and ramble about them!

I'm actually surprised there aren't more Aragorn lovers out there. I mean, how can you go wrong with Viggo? I know they messed his caricature up, but.....

What do you mean, caricature? :- And yeah, he and Legolas are cool, just not as cool as Frodo. ;)

The biggest flaw in the movies....gosh this irks me so...is that Gollum managed to make Frodo believe Sam was against him at Mt Doom. I was SOO mad about that.

Really? I loved that part. It was dramatic. That says it all!

Welcome to the Square Radagast! 'tis always good to have another in company. The more the merrier. :)

Yes, welcome! And another LotR fan too, I presume? :)

I like cheese puffs!

I love that movie!

You like Sergeant York and cheese puffs?! Another kindred spirit! ;)

Yay! :D

*ducks out of square w/ paper bag on head*

I'm really not crazy!!...I think...

I wouldn't be too worried. You should hear my brother's Peter Lorre accent. :P

Who's Peter Lorre?

*thinks she has caught up and leaves the Square* :D

Thanks for all the get-well wishes! I'm still working on it, but I think the fever has lessened somewhat. I'm hoping to be back at school by Thursday - at the latest.

*reads all the LotR conversations with interest* I'm not sure what to say in reply to any of that... my brain is feeling really fuzzy. I definitely need to start on the books, though, before I can comment on how characters were changed in the movies (etc.).

My Christmas went all right, QS. It wasn't the best year I've had, due to some family issues and stuff, but I managed. What about yours? I hope it was white!

Ugh, Silver, a practice ACT test? Fun.... :|

Ahhh, I suppose I'll take your word on that, Lady A. Speaking of chocolate, did you receive the parcel I sent your way several days ago? I do hope it will make up for the chocolates I stole borrowed from you and Mr. Lune. ;)

We enjoy your visits as well -- never fear! It's always a pleasure when the Royal Family decides to grace us with its presence. I haven't heard much from Mr. Lune and Horsie lately, however. Has Horsie been behaving himself? ;)

(And yes, I was just goofing around when I said all the semi-insulting stuff above, haha.) I'm really a nice person... *sniff*... Don't look at me like that anymore...

..... /:)

Greetings, Radagast, and welcome to the Square! Do hop right in. :) As Ti'ana said, the more the merrier!

*waves to Ella* Glad that you could drop by! It's been awhile. That's cool about trying out animation. And as for the new year, I hate to think of what will happen when I finally get back in school. I'll probably still be writing '10 on all my papers at the end of April. ;))

The lady gallops in on her elegant black steed, her long brown hair streaming out behind her like a banner in the wind. She reins in at the fountain (as is usual) and swings down, using the cobbled rim of the fountain as a stool (The Lady Fiona has not grown any taller these past few -Has it been months?- that she's not visited this happy gathering of people). She sits down on the rim and flicks her hair quickly behind her before she begins to speak.
Mortereve, all! My goodness it's been a long time! I've been busy, busy, busy! I do believe that the last time I cam here was right before I starting NaNoWriMo. And then there was Christmas to prepare for, and lots of baking was needed to put that in order, shopping for gifts was (of course) extremely necessary, and there was much cleaning and decorating, tree cutting, crafting, sledding in the snow, and other things that made it nearly impossible to keep up with this as well as the RPs that I'm in on NW.
This week has been a difficult one already, and it's only Tuesday! My eldest sister left to get beck to her master's program in Toronto Canada, my eldest brother moved to his college town, and all of the siblings after that until me are gone all day at their various schools. On top of this, I too have started back to school, but my Parents are on a cruise and I'm finding it difficult to keep on top of school work, chores, and making all the meals. It doesn't sound like much... but it really is rather tiring and I can't wait till the weekend when my parents will be back and I'll be on my normal schedule again (-| .
I'm still doing Gaelic and it's as wonderful as ever, I adore learning languages! I'm still doing allot of writing. Music such as Piano, Violin, and Voice are still a major part of my life, and I'm just dying to learn the guitar :D (I'm not really able to do this because I have such tiny hands and we have no small guitars in my house... :( ) I think that's everything that I have to say for now...
Slan!

Most favorite hobbit? Rosie Cotton (Of course!!! ;) ).

*enters the square on his unicycle once again* It is nice to be back on the unicycle again. There was not room to bring it from Oregon the first trip but we got it down here now...

It has been far too long since I have been in here, I hope no one missed me too much ;)

Life has been pretty busy lately! We are in the process of moving into a new house piano lessons, camping trips...

Oh this one camping trip I went on with my brother and his wife and two other of my brothers and a friend, it was really fun! We went down to the Everglades, and spent a night and two days down there. We were planning on staying two nights there but there was a bit of a problem with renting canoes for canoeing and camping so we had to stay at a campsite. Which was still fun but not as fun... And we spent most of our time driving around looking for places to sleep which was a little tiring but altogether I had a lot of fun.

Ok now time for catchup...

First of all I would like to welcome the newcomers to the square! *waves to georgiefan1, Shastafan, Lucy of Narnia, The Rose-Tree Dryad and Radagast of Mirkwood* *will slap himself twice if he missed any newcomers that he does not mention in his post*

Wow Town Square is growing a bit in population. But you know what they say: (and don't question the 'they') "The more the merrier!"

*waves to Ben, lysander and Cor, in turn* How are you all doing recently? :)

I have been doing good :) A bit busy lately, but alls well :)

*waves to Elanor*

Hey, all! I hate to come in like this, but I just wanted to ask you guys to pray for my family. My father died last week after being hit by a truck on the highway as he was trying to help someone who had skidded off the road. I was in our car at the time, and only had minor whiplash. If you want to see my "photo blog," here is the link.

http://picasaweb.google.com/allen.parfi ... 4thOnward#

I will be adding pictures as I get them - these were on my phone, so there are a lot more that I want to get.

God bless you all.

Hey Sonny :) I read this post quite a while ago (about when you first posted it), I did not have time to reply then, but wanted to let you know I have been praying

Also I would like to give you a very warm welcome into the square! ~o) Please do come into my hobbit hole and have some tea, and maybe a few cakes?

I'm not sure of what is talked about in here, but I've seen this thread on the board, and it seems quite popular. So, what do you guys talk about in here, and can I join in? :D

~Riella

Took a while for me to figure out that you changed your name :)
Welcome to the Square Riella!
As for what we talk about it looks like you have gotten the hang of it :)

Yes, I thought I would surprise you all! ;) I'm glad to be back! :) Things are really going well for me! Life is just beautiful sometimes, and this is one of those times. Sorry for the rather random comment there. ;))
How are you doing? Have you been busy lately? I haven't had time to keep up with what everyone is doing by their posts, so I'm afraid that I don't know much.

Glad to hear it Djaq! I love when life is just beautiful!
I'm doing good, been busy with moving into a new house and working but it has been going good :) I'm afraid that I don't know too much about everyone here too :s ... It is rather hard to keep up with everyone.

Actually, that's not terribly odd. I know several families who don't celebrate Christmas for the same reason. And trust me, I don't look down on you for your convictions (no tomatoes ;) ).

*is glad that no tomatoes are going to be hitting him anytime soon* ;))

It's just one of those things that gets easier with more practice. And most of the time you don't notice yourself getting better. At least, that's what I've noticed. It always feel like I work so hard, but never get anywhere. :P But looking back now, I can see where I've really improved. :) So, what kind of songs are you playing on the piano right now?

Yeah that is definitely true! It's like hair growing; you don't notice the difference day to day but when you look at a picture or whatever you can see the difference.

I'm just at the very beginning of reading music. But I like picking out different worship songs to practice and play by ear.

*waves to Tiana* It is good to see you back in the square! How are things going for you?

*waves a very hearty wave to Aunt Jo*

*waves to Queen Susan* How are you doing Susan?

Well Well well! If it is not Ella! How goes it with you?

*is glad to see talk of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit*
I am re-reading The Hobbit right now and plan to read the Trilogy next. Love those books.

And now time to bid you all a fare farewell and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As soon as I am done, I'll have everyone over for tea, and a boiled egg each, and toast with sardines and toast with butter and toast with honey and sugar-topped cakes, and when we are all tired of eating I shall play us some music. :D

*comes in after a Fire Department meeting drinking a monster energy drink* I know it isn't at all healthy for me, but I like the green ones.

Lu, Frodo is more grown up in the books, and not as wimpy as the movies in my humble opinion, that said, I did read the books first, so I am more partial to them. :)

Talking in the movie's rendition of Gollum's voice is so fun. :D I had a whole conversation with myself and smeagol (SP?) once.

Oh yes do come and ramble on about them. I always love to read about it.

In the books I think Aragorn was more Kingly. He wasn't afraid to take up the crown. He was waiting for the day, with great eagerness.

Yes that was dramatic (when Frodo believes that Sam is tricking him), but It shows how weak Frodo was, and he wasn't that way in the book.

*waves back to Ben* I am doing well. Yourself?

Radagast, I love the Hobbit. Mom made me read that before I read LOTR.

And I must be off for a bit, I'll come back though. :)

I would have to agree with you about Merry and Pippin, not that it wasn't funny in the movies, but yeah they were more serious in the books.

Pippin was serious in the books? :- On the contrary, I found him quite hilarious. :D Especially in the first half of FotR, and the part with him in the Mines of Moria. ;)

I see what you mean about Merry, though. He seemed much more sensible in the book to me. I could never picture book-Merry doing that fireworks prank that movie-Merry did at the beginning of FotR...
