Mortereve all!!

Elanor, don't feel bad, I'm sure that I totally stink at Xbox. I haven't ever played it before, and really don't care to *dodges flying veggies*. It isn't that I don't want to, I am just not crazy about it.
Exactly my thoughts! Looking back, most of my photos consist of sky (sunrises, sunsets, interesting cloud formations, etc.) and of my dog.
I have to say that I have thousands of photos of all kinds of things. I like to take photos of flowers. Mainly cause they are pretty easy, and they always look beautiful.
*Comes sneaking back to Lu's Igloo making a mental note as to where the pile of snowballs are just in case the situation gets a little sticky*
Fireflower, funny dream. mmm....I wonder if I can make you dream of other things if I talk about them.
Yeah I figured out how to code the quotes. I was forgetting the " " on each side of the name, but it seems to work fine now. And yes what you did say was understandable
Dryad, We have pork BBQ too, and Sweet potatoes. You can have your pepsi-cola stuff (I don't particularly like soda). We can live without green rocks and Pine tar....actually we may have that in East Texas. You live in NC?
*tries to ignore her sister's post, but just has to read it to make sure she didn't say anything about me*
Valia!!!! It's good to see you here.
Miss R., I have not seen Deathly Hallows. I have seen the first...five, and am hoping to see the rest soon. So far I love them. The more I watch the more stuff fits into place better.
Lady A., 'tis so good to see you here.
And I think that is all for tonight. *waves sleepily*

Happy 2011, SquareOnions! 'Tis great to see the dawning of a new year upon our fair Square.
So who all in here is a LotR fan? And knows that Frodo is the best hero ever and that Pippin rocks?
I'm a fan of Tolkien's work...that reminds me, I should have another reading of The Hobbit and LOTR over the next few months, and perhaps a viewing of the movies.
Sam is actually one of my favorite characters from LOTR. His faithful support is part of what helps Frodo succeed in his mission.
...I'm in Central Cali. And it gets down to the 20s in wintertime.
I'm a bit surprised it gets that cool there. Though my brother lives in San Diego so I'm used to his southern California weather reports.
It can get to the 20s here in the winter too...on a nice warm day. We're coming up to the coldest part of the year, where -20F happens at night. Not to mention the mountains of snow we've gotten this year!
Greetings of the new year to the Royal Family, Lady A! Your posts are fun to read, as always.
*visits the chocolate tree on the way out of the Square*
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Oh, by the way I was just reading in TTT (yes, I haven't finished FotR and just opened to skim the end of TTT, what's your point? ) but anyway, it says something about Sam thinking "I can't be the ring bearer, not without Mr. Frodo" or something like that, so! Frodo may not be able to do it w/out Sam, but Sam needed Frodo to have someone to guide, he could not do it alone. So. There. Frodo rocks!
(ignore me, I'm just a die-hard Elijah-Wood-as-Frodo fan.)

You suck a lollipop, and you sing a song. Get it right, Jo!
Hello all! Did everyone have a nice Sunday? I went to a friends house after church, and watched the breathless Packers vs Bears game. Yay!! That was fun, I saw some people who I haven't seen for like forever!!
Now time for catchup!
I love the movies and never finished reading FotR, but I have to someday! (I just found it hard to read a big book like that w/ so many...er...parts that were not so cinematic... ) But yeah, I love in the book how Pippin sings his bath song! Pippin is so funny!!!
Wow - you really need to read them!! I am a firm believer that everyone in the world should read them. Do it soon!! Yes, Pippin is lots of fun!
I'm thinking about writing again soon...I try to do Nano but...never get to 50,000 words. Maybe this year?
Oh, that's awesome! You totally should do it, you might be surprised at what you can do. I was! What kind of things have you written before?
So whatcha up to right now, Elanor?
Not much - tonight I have the first rehearsal of a play, and right now I'm just . . doing this! How about you?
Oh, and please call me Ellie, Ela, Ella, Elle, etc.
My Christmas was fantastic, thank you for asking! Lots of good times with family and friends. And good food, of course. How was yours? Hope you had fun hanging out with your friends for New Years! I hung out with friends too - I was invited over to a friend's house along with a bunch of others from my school's drama club (which is generally the group of people I hang out with), and we played games, talked, and blew noisemakers at each other at midnight. Fun times!
That sounds really fun! Mine was great too - just lazy hanging around, very fun. And New Years was great, we about the exact same thing. At Midnight we blew noisemakers, and sang Auld Lang Syn. Very fun.
I'll start walking.
The PostReply button only shows the posts from the previous page, I think. For me, at least, I have to go back on a separate webpage and go through the pages that won't show up in order to quote them in my post.
Haha - you really made me laugh there.
I think I realized that, thanks.
*waves to Daughter of the King* I don't think I've had the honor of making your acquaintance before - glad to see you, though!
Elanor, don't feel bad, I'm sure that I totally stink at Xbox. I haven't ever played it before, and really don't care to *dodges flying veggies*. It isn't that I don't want to, I am just not crazy about it.
haha - I know, I feel like I want to play it more, just so I can get better at it. It is fun, I'm sure, when you know how to move around.
I guess that's all - so goodbye everyone, until next time!
Edit: looking through old posts, I realized that I have indeed made Dot's acquaintance. Please forgive me the mistake.

Good mortereve, all! I'm skipping school today due to a nasty flu I caught. I woke up this morning with a 102.6 fever, and so we decided I should probably stay in bed and sleep. I think my fever is mostly gone now, and hopefully I'll be able to go tomorrow. (It will be bad enough to be the only person confused about classes and wandering through the halls idiotically.) So, since I have an afternoon of time on my hands, what better than a catchup post?
That's nice, Lucy of Narnia. It sounds like you've had a little experience then. I enjoy acting, but I have no talent for it whatsoever. Hope you can get the chance to audition if SC is made!
Storms, Cor? I assume thunderstorms, then. We were supposed to have a snow storm hit us last week, and when that didn't happen the weatherman predicted an ice storm. Wonder what he'll come up with next? Neither one has occurred so far. We're having sunshine and forty-degree weather, with the exception of a few lonely snowflakes that fell yesterday.
Wow, three times now? You sound like me. When I see a movie I really like, I watch it over and over and over again. Everyone else gets tired of it except me. Same goes with books and music.
You started school today as well? I hope it goes splendidly!
Lady A! 'Tis a pleasure for you to you make an appearance. (Even if it is only for the chocolate.) Happy 2011 to you, as well!
I am definitely a LotR fan, Lucy of Narnia. I haven't read the books yet, but I loved the movies. Pippin was amazing, and so was Frodo -- though I have to say I prefer Samwise Gamgee. He has to be one of my favorite characters, if not the favorite. I love his steadfast loyalty to Frodo.
And certainly you may try out the chocolate tree! Don't go asking permission from Lady A, however.
I love it! It always inspires me in my own writings whenever I read a chapter or two. A great way to fight writer's block!
Oh! I love those kinds of books. I have come across several of them myself, and yes -- 'tis a good way to get past writer's block.
Wow. California gets down to the twenties? I never knew that. We get down to the twenties quite often around here... typically the weather ranges between 0º and 25º during the winter.
Have you read the books, Ti? I listened to them by audiobook over the summer, and they were excellent. One of my favorite series ever.
*settles in a corner with a cup of hot tea* Works very well at soothing the throat.

It's on my "to read" list for 2011!
What kind of things have you written before?
Um, lots of different things! Usually when I read a book or watch a movie I like my story tends to be a bit biased (ok, a virtual copy-cat!) of that story. Like the one time two kids had to do this big heroic mission-thing and the boy was carrying this ring and it was taking over him... My bro is the first to poitn out the similiarities, and I must agree w/ him- it's true! I did right this nice )albeit very short) Historical Fiction about this boy named Bill during the Revolutionary War time-period. His younger sister got bit by a snake and died, then his older sister got married...and it all happened in like two days - skip a bit- and I wrote the wedding ending. Very short...laughably short. Ten little chapters... But anyway, the sequel was Bill older, going to marry himself. I decided that he marries this girl (not the one you'd expect) then they have two l;little boys, then she dies and he marries the one you'd expect (Mr. Bowditch, anyone?). Hee-hee, it didn't get finished, but I had fun writing about Bill's married sister's little baby daughter, named after Bill (his real name is William, the baby is Wilhelmina, Willa for short). So, uh, yeah, more than you asked for, huh?
So whatcha up to right now, Elanor?
Not much - tonight I have the first rehearsal of a play, and right now I'm just . . doing this! How about you?
A play! Oh, I wish I could be in a play! What's it called? I'm not doing much but hanging out today...and wishing to see VDT again!
Oh, and please call me Ellie, Ela, Ella, Elle, etc.
Cool, I love nicknames! Is Elanor your real name? I love that spelling of it! I once had a character who I was kind of real life role playing w/ some friends and her name was Elanor.
Good mortereve, all! I'm skipping school today due to a nasty flu I caught. I woke up this morning with a 102.6 fever, and so we decided I should probably stay in bed and sleep.

Mortereve Y'all!!!!
I hope everyone is doing well.
Gazer, it is good to see you in here. I always enjoy reading your weather reports.
Elanor, that's cool that y'all sang Auld Lang Syn on Christmas. I love that song.
I'm sorry you were sick earlier, Miss R.. I hope you're feeling better now. *hands her some chocolate off of the chocolate tree* Maybe it'll make you feel better.
I have not read the books. My sister says I need to, so I probably will. I've heard they're a pretty easy read.
On the topic of LOTR. I'm not sure if Sam is my favorite character or not. I loved him though. Much more in the books than in the movies, although I'm glad that they portrayed his loyalty so well in the movies. I also love the way they put Rosie into the movies. It wasn't the books, but they did a good job of it. On the other hand I did NOT like the way they portrayed Frodo in the movies. They made him to wimpy. He was not a wimp at all in the books. In the movies he was the cute blue eyed hobbit who couldn't do anything for himself, and that's not who he was in the books. So yeah didn't really like him that much. I do like the movies though. I actually watched them for the first time in 2010, and they did change stuff, but overall I liked it. I did not like Lothlorian in the theatre version. The extended versions explain more things that the theatrical versions didn't. I always imagined Lothlorian to be different. I did love how they designed the buildings, and costumes, and stuff like that. They took the book and put it into something that was something you could see rather than imagine. The movies weren't the books, but they were still good.
Merry and Pippin are so good in both the movie and the books. Actually....yeah they were great. The books didn't get their personalities quite right. I think they were more grown up in the books. Eventually they did in the movies, but it was like...the third one before they did.
I personally liked Gollum a LOT in both the movies and the Books, although if you haven't read the books you don't understand a lot of his background. He was such a sad creature.
OK yeah you got me started on them. I could go on and on about those books, and the movies. I had a huge long conversation with my sister about them once.
"Whenever you feel like criticizing any one," he told me, "just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had.”
Hello all!
*waves to MissRosa* And how was your Christmas?
Queen Susan! How are you? I've missed you! Goodness, I didn't know I have an old face.
Only depending on how you define "old". I am doing quite well, thank you! A friend will be visiting for three or so days this week, so I'm looking forward to that... A few extended family "Christmases" this weekend. How've you been? [Thanks to the "Book of Face", I don't feel too out of the loop in what you've been up to.] How was your Christmas?
Oh, and the ball sounds like it was lovely.
And how are you doing?
Pretty well, thank you! I loved the pictures of the things you've made/knitted! The grey and white scarf was one of my favorites.
I tend to take things very literally....course it's easier to tell when someone is joking in person than it is via the internet.
Ah, that's fine. Next time I'll try to make it more clear or just skip it.
LL: I love just looking at your posts as a whole. They're so nice and colorful.
And Josh Groban is hilarious! I haven't heard much of his music, but I love his videos... espeically Groban's Garden.
Yes, he can be pretty funny! Hm, I don't know if I've seen that one. I'll have to watch it. He seems like a pretty nice guy, though I'm unsure if he's a Christian or not... Great voice though...
Edit: Ah, I see. "Groban's Garden" is like a series. Cool. I'll still have to watch it sometime.

Mortereve, everyone! School started back up for me today, but luckily my teachers didn't give out too much homework. So I have time to catchup! Well, maybe. I also have to memorize lines for a play I'm in, called "The Mystery of Edwin Drood". Technically, we've only had one rehearsal so far, not counting auditions. Usually our shows are late April/early May, but it's been pushed back to the end of March this year, for a number of reasons. This is also the first time I've gotten what you could call a principle role, so I actually have lines to memorize this time around! They're wanting us to be off book on Saturday. I don't know if that's possible, but I'm going to try to be close.
Alright, catchup time!
I don't think I like your math teacher! What a tragedy. Did she give you enough homework for the entire break? Mine gave me homework during Thanksgiving break, but it was only a couple of assignments so it wasn't too bad. And having to do school over Thanksgiving is a lot better than doing it over Christmas.
Luckily, she didn't give that much homework - it was a practice ACT math test. Not fun, all the same. It was more a problem of forcing myself to sit down and do it! I really didn't want to.
Thank you! It was a looooong semester, but I do love how very neat that 4.0 looks on my transcript. You have finals after Christmas break? As in right after, or in the spring?
We have our midterm exams starting on the 17th. That gives us two weeks to re-learn everything we forgot over break. Like I said, I would have rather gotten them over with beforehand. I sat down in math class today and looked at the homework I did before break - and realized I had no idea what I had written or why. Oh dear.
*waves to Mel* You forgot some of my favorite "M" words: medieval, marshmallow, meteor, moonlight, and magical! Oh, and M&Ms! Have you been working on any new drawings lately?
I have to say that I have thousands of photos of all kinds of things. I like to take photos of flowers. Mainly cause they are pretty easy, and they always look beautiful.
Flowers are fun! Especially when you put your camera on a macro setting and can get really close to capture all those tiny details!
Sam is actually one of my favorite characters from LOTR. His faithful support is part of what helps Frodo succeed in his mission.
Agreed! Sam is my favorite as well. I love his stubbornness. He never gives up! I always seem to like supporting characters more than the main hero...I don't really know why. (But for Lu's sake, I'll just add that Frodo is pretty awesome too. )
That sounds really fun! Mine was great too - just lazy hanging around, very fun. And New Years was great, we about the exact same thing. At Midnight we blew noisemakers, and sang Auld Lang Syn. Very fun.
Fun times! Except our noisemakers were the kind that don't actually make noise - they unroll and then roll back in when you stop blowing. So it was a relatively quiet midnight. We had noisemaker fights with them instead. I was just thinking of
I'm skipping school today due to a nasty flu I caught. I woke up this morning with a 102.6 fever, and so we decided I should probably stay in bed and sleep.
Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better!
Alright, well I'm off to do some writing! Figures - all through break, I was completely uninspired and not wanting to write at all. Then yesterday, the last day of break, I sit down and am able to write for seven hours straight. And now break's over. Couldn't you have had better timing, inspiration?

I heard discussion about The Lord of the Rings and couldn't resist. I must weigh in (how I dislike that phrase... oh well) on behalf of Gandalf. More and more he is my favorite character in the books. I'm not particularly fond of the movies, except for the animated one.
Miss Rosario! I am obliged to say that I do NOT pop in just for the chocolate! That is simply a delightful side benefit, my dear. I truly enjoy visiting the Square Onions, even if it is so seldom.

The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning. - Aslan
On Pixar's upcoming 2012 film Brave. . . I was really excited about it when it was called The Bear and the Bow. I loved that title. I thought it sounded really unique and cool and interesting. And then they changed it to simply Brave—just to spite me, I'm sure.
I was so annoyed when I found that out, because I find titles that consist of one basic word irking. Most of the time they seem uninspired to me. Up wasn't so bad because I wasn't aware of it having another working title, and I will admit it seemed to fit the offbeat story pretty well. (Although I probably prefer what Japan calls it better: Grandpa Carl's Flying House. ) But to have such a lovely title and swap it out for such a generic word. . . . I don't think I'll ever forgive them for that, and will probably go on calling it The Bear and the Bow no matter how many blank looks I get.
I like cheese puffs!
I love that movie!
You like Sergeant York and cheese puffs?! Another kindred spirit!
]Ah, yes. The cappuccinos are a definite plus. Would you die from triumph if I became a monk?
Probably not. I'll be too busy getting you some cappuccino and giving you a tour of the Monastery. Now, if the Dark Overlord or the Silvertongued Minion ever became monks. . . hmmm, there's a good chance I'd keel over out of sheer shock.
Makes sense to me... my family is careful about what we eat, so the holidays are rare occasions where we indulge in junk food. On the menu tonight is ice cream! Want some? *offers a bowl to Rose and the other Square Onions*
Yes please! Fancy a cheese puff? I think I have two left.
*Waves to Atamar* Hi there!
*Waves to Valia* Wow, your arm must be tired. That was a lot of waving.
Aww, that's so sweet of you to take my health into consideration!
You know I couldn't let that go without saying something.
Any time! Can't let your triumphal, maniacal laughter get so out of control that you topple over, now can we?
And yes, I knew you wouldn't let that go without saying something. You minions remind me of my brother sometimes.
*ducks out of square w/ paper bag on head*
I'm really not crazy!!...I think...
I wouldn't be too worried. You should hear my brother's Peter Lorre accent.
That's just about exactly what I'd say - it was fun just sitting around and being lazy during the holidays, much more fun than always doing things. so I'm doing great. It is exciting that 2011 is here!!
It is! I'm excited to see how the new year unfolds, on NarniaWeb and in real life, too.
I've started a journal and promised myself that I will write in it in every single day of this year, and I'm very forgetful about stuff like that, so it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. I've always wanted to keep journals before, and have from time to time, but I never could keep it up. Disappearing into the worlds of my writing, or my castles in the air, was always a lot more appealing than sitting down and recording the events of the day, which usually either seemed to be boring or bothersome or both.
Oooh perfect! Now we just need some ice skates and some delicious hot chocolate to drink when we're done skating! (And if there is a Pixar club, I dub thee "Official Snack-Bringer"! )
*Sets about procuring plenty of delicious hot cocoa*
I will cherish that title always.
*Waves to daughter of the King* You have such a lovely username!

*Tis a pleasure to meet you, miss! *
Is there a preferred nickname you would like to be called?
Thank you for the welcome, Prince of Archenland! *Curtsies, and shakes the noble dragon's claw* I do not believe I have ever known a dragon before, and especially not one with such fine manners. Since you call Miss Rosa "Rose," RTD or Dryad is fine as far as nicknames go!
*Waves to the Lady Amalthea, and admires her beautiful avatar*
Dryad, We have pork BBQ too, and Sweet potatoes. You can have your pepsi-cola stuff (I don't particularly like soda). We can live without green rocks and Pine tar....actually we may have that in East Texas. You live in NC?
Corrrrect! (Could not resist making a guessing game out of that. ) Born and raised there.
*Waves to stargazer* . . . Wait, we have a chocolate tree? *Sigh* I have so much to learn.
*Waves to Queen Susan*
Whew, I think that's it. Hope I haven't missed anything. I really need to stop doing these catchup posts so late at night, when my brain seems to think I'm already asleep.
I personally liked Gollum a LOT in both the movies and the Books.
This is random of me, but I love how you capitilized the word Books and didn't capitilize movies, haha. I know it's probably just a typo, but it reminded me of how we NWers tend to prefer the orginal books over movies, lol. *sigh* Yeah... I see symbolism in everything.
So it seems most people like Sam more, however. Odd.
Oh, yes. Sam is defintiely the most popular LOTR character on NarniaWeb. Soon after I joined this site I discovered I was surrounded by all of these... *gasp*... Sam-Lovers!!!!! *Looks around fearfully* We-we other-character lovers will have to stick together, okay Lucy of Narnia? Don't leave me alone in this crazy messed-up world!!!!
( )
But in all seriousness, although Sam is a very good character in LOTR, he isn't my favorite. My favorite would be... hmm... I have so many. I guess my favorites would be Pippin, Smeagol, Bilbo, Gandalf, Merry, Aragorn, and Elrond.
On the other hand I did NOT like the way they portrayed Frodo in the movies. They made him to wimpy. He was not a wimp at all in the books. In the movies he was the cute blue eyed hobbit who couldn't do anything for himself, and that's not who he was in the books.
I'm with you there! That was really surprising to me when I saw how different he was in the movies. I don't feel at all like I'm watching Frodo. One of the movie's biggest flaws adaption-wise, in my opinion. That along with Gimli, and the scene where Galdriel is offered the ring and suddenly turns into a green floating monster with a demonic voice and reddish-brown cartoon eyes. (I know that part is kinda in the book, but I didn't see it quite the way Peter Jackson portrayed it in the movie. ).
All this LOTR movie and book discussion is fun! Too bad people don't have discussions like this on the official Tolkien thread... That's kinda ironic...
Would you die from triumph if I became a monk?
Probably not. I'll be too busy getting you some cappuccino and giving you a tour of the Monastery. Now, if the Dark Overlord or the Silvertongued Minion ever became monks. . .
Yet another reason for me NOT to become a monk, Villain-to-be!
LOL
I'm so glad I decided to join this thread! You guys are all so nice, and it's so fun talking to you all and goofing around. (And yes, I was just goofing around when I said all the semi-insulting stuff above, haha. ) I'm really a nice person... *sniff*... Don't look at me like that anymore...

*Radagast timidly walks into the Town Square and looks nervously at all the faces that are unfamiliar*
Hello all! I already introduced myself in the introductions topic but I thought that I would also pop by here, seeing as this is where most of the friendly conversation seems to go on. My name is Radagast and I’m new to this town square and also narniaweb.
As for the discussion on the most favorite hobbit, I have two choices. (Yes I know it’s a cop out ) I enjoy Merry the most in the books, but in the movies I like Sam the best. I was not happy by how they turned Merry and Pippin into being only used as comic relief for the most part.
Protector of the Birds and Beasts of Middle Earth.
