8 pages to catch up on, and it's been a whole month since I was here last...
That's not so bad. :D

Or I could be somewhat weird and shorten it to QSu. ;)

Ooh, I like it! :D *laugh* Oh, and I've heard "Lucy" by Skillet... (you asked someone else) It's one of my favorite songs by them actually...

How's everything been going for you?

Oh, pretty good! :) It's been a hard and good month... I don't know if I've told you before, but my best friend and I went through a few... difficulties. They're solved now, but it's still difficult to try and build back the relationship. As this month is Christmas, etc. and tomorrow is her birthday... that makes it harder too.
But other then that it's been pretty good. :)
How about you?? How are things going???

Aw man, I missed a lot of birthdays. :( That's probably what makes me saddest about being gone from the square so long. :P That and not getting updates on how life is going for some people. :( :) Sorry all you December birthday people!! I hope your days were FANTASTIC even without my well wishes!! ;) :)

*pokes DJ* Oops, this is not facebook. ;) *hugs*

be kind to the typos; they need homes every once in awhile

;)) Hehe, I found that funny. :)

After almost 3 years and 3,000 posts on NarniaWeb, I realized I have no idea what goes on in Ditto Town.

That's what happened to me. :P Only it might've been 4 years.

Kat! MissA! You're... back! Kind of at least! :D Nice to see you here again. :D

Sean/Sonny: Oh my. :( I'm so sorry to hear that. I'll pray for you and your family.

Betsie! It's you!! So many "old" faces popping up in the square! ;) Ok, so I haven't for a month either. And it probably just seems like a lot of faces because I'm reading it faster then it's happening...
Okay, that was somewhat confusing... :P Glad you're "here" though!! :D

(We are nearing the end of Catchup!!! Yes!!)
*skims WAAAAAAY too much*
And..... done. :)

Merry Christmas all. :)

I only posted here a few days ago, and already get to do my first quasi-mini-catchup post! How exciting! :D ;))

Oh, bother! Now I want one in real life! (both kinds: a real one, and the kind you gave me) :))

Something about the idea of you and the boys at the wheel of a zamboni is intriguing/slightly terrifying. =)) At any rate, it seems like the kind of thing that I would end up hearing about on the news. ;)) If you ever get one. . . call me up so I can be there for the adventure when you take it out for the first spin! :p

Yeah, I haven't really gone in the writing thread in awhile, have I? Oops!

No, you haven't! We definitely need an update! :D ;))

I'm fine! :) Tired a lot, but fine. How are you?

I'm very good! Pretty much the same as you. The holidays are wonderful, but they often leave you kind of exhausted. Totally worth it, though! :)

The boys are fine, too. Though they're still driving me (and each other) crazy. ;)

It's good to hear that everything's perfectly normal, then. ;) ;))

Oh! I forgot to mention... WE HAVE SNOW!!! It's been here for a few days, actually. (maybe since thursday? I forget) We had had some a few weeks ago, but it melted. And we hoped we'd have a white christmas.

Aww! I'm not sure we technically had a white Christmas right where I am, because we only got any sizable accumulation after midnight, but I'm pretending we did anyway. ;) My mother and my brother and I all ran outside in our pajamas right before midnight on Christmas day when it had just started snowing to catch snowflakes and gawk at the white Christmas-ness. ;)) And then we came back in and listened to our teeth chattering for about half an hour. :))

I know one of the adults at church had said during choir practice that "I want a white Christmas! We need to pray for snow, but that it'd be safe for all those traveling" (see, the last time it snowed there was a lot of ice. We even had to have help getting to the cars, so we wouldn't slip, a week or so ago!!! :-o )

Oooh, ice is no fun at all. :( Yesterday when my mom and I were out getting groceries, we were coming up the incline of an off ramp and we had to stop at a light, and when the light turned green, the car wouldn't move. :-o It was probably about 20 seconds before the car got enough traction to move off of the icy patch, and boy was that a good feeling! ;))

*waves to the Dryad of the Rose-Tree* Yes! It is my dear monk! I am your conversational minion and it is an absolute pleasure to see you again. How are you doing?

Verily, it ist good to see thee outside the hallowed walls and hallowed halls of the Monastery and the dark, dank chambers of the Lair! :D OK, that's all the psuedo-Old English I'm going to let permeate this thread; I'm afraid I have to draw the line somewhere, however much I enjoy talking like that. =)) I am very good, and very glad that I no longer have to traipse around with a blindfold, banging into things, in my efforts to avoid spoilers. ;) Still walking into things just as much as ever, though, blindfold or not. :P

*giggles at johobbit's holiday SquareOnions picture* :))

Rose! It's grand to see you here! :D (Although it makes me laugh a bit, because I had JUST thought that I should tell you to try out the Square next time I saw you in chat. ;)) ) But welcome! ;)

Oh goodness, what a weird coincidence! That's so funny! =)) And thank you for the welcome. It's very cool to be here!

*waves to The Rose-Tree Dryad* welcome! I think I might've talked to you once, during NaNo? How are you? Done much work on your novel since? ;)

Yes, I think we did! :D How's my novel coming? Eeeh. I have been dreading the moment when someone would ask me that. =)) I'm ashamed to say I haven't even looked at it since November. I reached the 50,000 words (50,004, to be exact =))), but the entire thing was such a failure on almost every level (I only got into about 10% of the plot) and it was so obvious that the story needed a major overhaul. So, I figured I would just shelve it for a while, have some time to think about it, and give myself a chance to get excited about it again before I put more time into it. :D I think working on it will be one if my New Year's resolutions, in fact, and since I tend to be very picky about resolutions and keeping my word and whatnot, hopefully that means I'll actually get some work done on it. ;))

And speaking of novels, I finally solved the problem that was getting in the way of my book for five years! So, I'm pretty happy and excited about that.

That is awesome, Riella! I've had novels sitting on the backburner for close to a decade now because I can't figure out how I want to write them, so I can imagine that must be a lovely feeling. ;))

*waves to Rose* Greetings! 'Tis a pleasure to see thee in the fair Town of Ditto. I trust thy journey from the Monastery was not too treacherous? ;)

Oh, not at all. :D I had just put new wheels on my roller-skates and the journey was quite speedy indeed! Only I found braking on the cobblestones of the Square to be quite difficult and ended up crashing into the fountain. :P

*waves to Mel and LL and everyone else who will stand still long enough to be waved at, since waving seems to be very much the thing to do here in the Square* ;))

. . . This is very random, but the Flynn and Pascal avatars on Lady_Liln and ValiantArcher's back-to-back posts on the last page make me giggle. =)) It's almost like a comic, or an animation made out of only two frames. :P

Told you it was random. :))

Anyway, randomness aside, has anyone thought anything about New Year's resolutions yet? Besides getting back to work on my NaNo novel, I want to:

1) Take more time for prayer and my relationship with God.
2) Read more books (that will be an easy one to keep ;) ) and study harder.
3) Keep thinking about the future, but without getting dissatisfied and frustrated with the present, which seems to move about as fast as molasses sometimes. ;))
4) Continue with my quest of perfecting the art of patience. :P
5) Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, be diligent about taking vitamins, and go for walks whenever the weather's fine.

There, I wrote them all out! Now maybe I'll actually hold myself accountable for them. ;)

Anyway, I think I've prattled on long enough for this post. ;)) So much for the "mini" in quasi-mini-catchup post! And so much for hiding my proficiency for babbling from the good Onions of the Square for very long. :))

I have seen that long posts are abundant here. :D

We got snow recently and that was great! Of course it made me think of Narnia...and I had a fur-coat, too! :D All I need is a lamp-post...

I do believe I will still be 5 years old when I am 100! =))

Welcome to the Square, Lu! I'm new here, too. :D I think I was in the depths of composing my novel of a post when you popped in, so that must be how I missed you! *Cor and Vern enter discussing the wonderful film they saw last night: How to Train Your Dragon*

I highly enjoyed it, even if they did take some liberties with dragon lore...*

Hey, at least it was not like Eragon. 8-|

Oh heavens, no! Much better than that film!! By a long shot*

Indeed! Anyway, Mortereve all! :D I trust everyone had a splendid Christmas weekend? Ours was quite lovely especially with the snow we got. We were able to stay inside and enjoy a quite weekend at home. :)

As for presents, I got a new hat, a new watch, The Music of The Lord of the Rings book, some chocolate and Clash of the Titans CD plus a new Nintendo DS system and game (those last three have not arrived yet. They were late gifts.)

*I received a pound of Lady A's smoked salmon, a large chocolate truffle and new claw polishing set. :D *

And I think we should let Mom tell ya'll what we got the Royal Couple, so keep your eyes out for her stopping by later. ;)

Alright, now for some catch-up!
--------------------------------------------

@ AC. We are doing quite well, thank you. :) And yourself?

@ Elanor. Oh good, glad I made sense then. :p Well, the stressfulness if now behind us and I we made it unscathed. ;)

Glad to hear your sister is doing well. We miss her here as well. :)

@ LL. You know, you're not very reassuring right now.... :-ss Well, maybe with some of the money Santa gave you you can buy your own narrator. ;) *kidding*

My first semester went splendidly! I made all A's and B's (mostly B's) in my classes. :D I'm looking forward/not looking forward to returning to school in the next few weeks... :|

@ Mel. Yes, it's one of our favorite Sci-Fi films. :)

@ Sonny. I've never really gotten into the TV series of Stargate, except for the first few seasons of Stargate: Atlantis before I lost interest in the story.

Hmm, let me guess..... Daniel? :p

*waves to all the new arrivals* Welcome to the Square all! :D

@ Djaq. Aye, indeed I am! Glad to hear all is well with you and yours. Everything is going well here. We actually got snow on Christmas eve and lasted until this morning. :D Did ya'll finally get any?

*Far too long indeed, madame. Thank you and from what I've heard you and yours are doing well also? Indeed it is! ;) :p *

The Royal Couple is doing quite well, thank you. King Lune is behaving himself (mostly) and Lady A is doing well. Having trouble finding a new narrator, though... :- *Vern accepts the large bag of chocolates for the Lady*

@ Rose. Welcome back, Rose! :D Glad to hear you've been having a good Christmas break. I have also been having a wonderful break from school. Tis so nice to sleep-in until 12, is it not? :p

@ Ruby. In a word.... yes. ;)

Enjoying going to college? Eh, not really. It's a necessary evil, but I'm managing. :p No, it's actually going well. I made good grades for my first semester which I'm thankful for. :D

@ Mounty. That's what everyone else calls me, so that's perfectly fine. :)

I know others have voiced a certain amount of disdain for Lucy's subplot, but I personally found it O.K. The filmmakers thankfully did not take it in the direction I was afraid they would, so I'm O.K with it. What are your thoughts?

@ Lys. I can truthfully say I know the feeling about being glad the semester is over. Though mine was actually decent, nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, er, dreading. :) :p

*starts skimming..... a lot*
-----------------------------------------------

O.K, I think that is all for tonight. I hope everyone has a splendid night and a grand Wed.! :D

*Cor and Vern exit the Square and head back to Archenland castle still discussing their new favorite movie: How to Train Your Dragon*

Avvie by the great Djaq!

Mortereve y'all!!

Wow it has been a long time since I've been in here. I was reminded by a friend that I've been here three years now. How time flies.

Not that y'all want to know, but I had a great Christmas. It was pretty low key. A couple of my sisters came by, then I went with one of them to their house, and then...hung out at the fire department for the rest of the evening. It was busy enough that it wasn't boring, but not too busy.
We didn't get any snow, but I really was not expecting any seeing as how it almost never snows here, but I guess I can always hope.

I'm glad you had a lovely Christmas Bennett. Have you by any chance watched Megamind?

I, personally have not been up to a lot. My oldest sister and her family came down this afternoon. It was great to see my nephews, and niece again. :)

I've also been playing around with some photography stuff. If any of y'all have any tips then I'd be more than happy to listen. I am not that great at it yet, but love to explore with it. Tonight I was trying to do some time exposure stuff. It's pretty amazing to see what all one can do with some very simple props.

On the subject of Stargate: I've seen lots of the older episodes, but eventually I got it into my thick head that most of the episodes are really the same thing over and over again just disguised differently. Not that I don't like it. Who could not like something with McGyver in it?

I saw the VODT on the day it came out and.....well, after seeing PC VODT was awesome!! I thought the graphics were totally awesome, and the very front of the movie was awesome. I think they portrayed Eustace very well.
The part I didn't like is that they kept changing the whole reason for the voyage. First it was for the Seven lords, then for the seven swords, then for the green mist.....?? Anyways I liked it, and would probably see it again, but the books are still better. :)

Ok I'll end this long ramble seeing as how most people probably don't care what I've been doing, have done, and will do. It is good to see some members who've been here a while (didn't want to say "older" for fear someone might take offence to it), as well as some newer members.

:p back at lys. Not being epic myself, I find my powers of invention strengthened by a tiny figment of reality. ;))

Ah, but there was a tiny fragment of reality upholding my masterpiece of invention: the script that, apparently, did exist, but now will never see the light of day. :(

Wow, now I just depressed myself. Carry on, old chum!

How are you?

Quite well, actually. I've had a splendid day -- went to see The King's Speech with my dad and grandmother (wonderful movie), and am now eating homemade shortbread COOKIES! :D Mmm.

*offers the Epic One some stale biscuits and water since the cafe won't serve him*

See? I knew some one was trying to teach me a lesson? *eyes narrow as he drives his knife through one of the biscuits, and into the table ... in a very epic fashion, of course*

What's your avy from? I don't recognize it and the fact that Romola Garai's on it interests me. ;))

I answered that question for you already in another thread, and now you expect me to explain it again? The gall of some people! 8-| ;)

Seriously, it is from a fabulous BBC miniseries called Daniel Deronda, based on the George Eliot novel, and it contains one of my favorite Romola performances -- and she was all of eighteen when she did it! :-o Coincidentally, the series was directed by Tom Hooper, currently acclaimed for a little movie known as The King's Speech. :p

And come now! You must admit that even you are at least a little mad.

@ Lys. I can truthfully say I know the feeling about being glad the semester is over. Though mine was actually decent, nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, er, dreading. :) :P

Mine was actually pretty decent too -- not nearly as good as I was hoping, but not nearly as bad as I was dreading, either. Clear as mud? Good. ymwhisle

Glad you got to see How To Train Your Dragon finally. I agree that it's wonderful, and far above any comparison to Eragon (the book or the movie). :-bd

How is the Clash of the Titans soundtrack? We ought to reopen the old thread....

EDIT: Hey, Ti'ana! :-h :D

Did you make the shortbread cookies?

I've never even heard of "the king's speech". Is it animation, or not?

Yes I'll try to change that. It all depends on the week. Some weeks I don't do hardly anything, and other times I'm going crazy doing things, which I'd rather be busy than not honestly.

Ohh cool. Once? Maybe you should try it again and see if you still can. :P

Yes I did obviously from what you said and your avatar. I just didn't put two and two together. :)

Don't worry; I'm not on here terribly often either. Right now I am because of the break. :p

But my avatar isn't from The King's Speech! Here's a trailer for your enlightenment:

A very good movie, and much better than the last one I saw in theaters (*coughVDTcough*).

EDIT: Off for now. Good night!

Ahh yes. It is nice for us back home when y'all have break. There are several people I know going through college, and generally don't have time for much of anything.

Then I must have read what you said wrong, but I still came to the right conclusion. :)

Well, it wouldn't take much to be better than VDT. In my humble opinion.

PC004: Ooh, our family really enjoyed HTTYD!! We saw it in theaters. 3D. We watch few movies in 3D, so I don't know how good it was 3D wise... But I though the 3D was better then some I've seen. *shrug* But like I said, I don't see a lot of 3D movies. And I'm using "3D" way to much in this paragraph.

😮 Do I see people hating on VDT????

...I haven't seen it yet. So I don't know what I think.... :P And I can't blame you yet, and don't know if I ever will. :P ... Anyways.

Good mortereve, all!

*waves to Anna* Glad you had such a nice Christmas. :)

Happy holidays to you as well, Valia! Glad you could drop by.

*adds Jo to the list* Oh wait, did that sound... impersonal? Fine. *sends a to compensate*

Wow, malkah. Yay for the Amazon gift card! That sounds awesome. I'll have to remember to suggest that to my parents next year. They're always at a loss of what to give me.

Aw, that's disappointing about not getting any snow for Christmas, Fireflower. And it was in the 50's? Bummer! Glad you had a nice holiday nonetheless, though.

No, AC, I'm afraid I haven't been able to yet. My parents aren't terribly fond of Harry Potter. :|

You're reading Inkspell, Silver? I read that several months ago and enjoyed it quite a bit. I still need to get around to the next book, though. I was planning to start on that during break, but I've been too lazy. Sleeping and sitting around the house is about all I've been doing for the past two weeks. :p

Annnnnd, it's a ~LL~ catch-up post. :D *is pleased to find that her color has been remembered* On second thought, didn't you say you had a cheat sheet for that? That spoils the fun... ;)
It's lovely to see you as well! :) How are the Squiggles doing? Have you received an update from them recently? Last I heard, they were visiting the Bahamas or something. That sounds like the right place to be this time of year!

I was disappointed with VTD, too, Riella. I wasn't expecting anything else though. I thought some parts were right on (the beginning and end, for instance), but as for the other 80% of the movie... :| The green mist was stupid. Ramandu's daughter was cheesy. And was I the only one who didn't like Lucy? Anyway. We'll see what happens. I'm not sure if I want another movie to be made if this is what will happen to it.
On the positive note, however, I thought Eustace and Reepicheep were both brilliant. :)

*is jealous that Elanor gets to see Betsie, and that Betsie gets to see Elanor* [-(

Welcome to the the Square, The Rose-Tree Dryad. I assume you are the one everyone is calling "Rose"? ;)) It's nice to meet you! I'm glad you could make it to Ditto Town. :)
New Years resolutions? Hm. I'm thinking of stealing several of yours. ;) I'm sure I could come up with a few, I just haven't put them into list-form yet.

Welcome, Lucy of Narnia!

How to Train Your Dragon was an excellent movie, Cor. I was overwhelmed by the cuteness of Toothless. The score was fantastic as well.

Thank you! We'll see how long I stick around this time. ;)
I'm glad to hear that your Christmas break has been going well. When do you start school again? I'm looking forward to it but dreading it and the same time.
