The man inclined his head to Calix as he spoke, "Indeed, you have a point. I suppose I should introduce myself. You may call me... Traveler... for that is what I am. As for what information I can give you, I know of this arrow, but as to the identities of the attackers responsible... I have no facts, only rumors."

He held the arrow out so that they could see it better, "The work of the feathering of this arrow. The fletching is made of gold... only one artisan has ever accomplished that."

Ace looked down at her, "I came to see how you were doing, David asked me to keep an eye out for you when I could, since he's busy most of the time."

He looked in the direction that Nix had disappeared, "What was he doing with you?" The hatred in his voice when referring to the doctor was unmistakable.

Darek listened carefully to Brownie's request and sat quietly for a few minutes afterwards, thinking. "I believe that will be possible," he finally said, very slowly. "At any rate, I shall do my best."

After Brownie left, Atom gave Darek a very incredulous look. "That's what he wants!? Gosh, you may be a genius but you're no magician!"
"Pfft, Atom, you're the one who said I could build anything anyone could think up by tonight!"
"Well, yeah, but-"
"But now you're doubting me?" Darek's tone was playful.
"No, it's not that... What on earth makes him think he can ask something that complicated of you?"
Darek looked steadily at Atom, "He probably has no idea what sort of work something like that would involve, or he has a great deal of faith in me. Either way, it doesn't really matter. Whatever you think of him, I don't pick up any malicious vibes from him, and you know how I love a challenge."
Atom raised an eyebrow and glanced away as if to hide another expression. Darek continued, "Anyway, I think I know how to manipulate my facsimilator to get a jump on what we need."
"But that thing is nothing like what he wants."
"No, but some of it's components are consubstantial."
Atom suddenly laughed. "Some of it's Com's are Con. Ok Einstein, what cha' need?"
"Copper. I need quite a bit of copper, to begin with."
Atom flicked a finger out, One.
"Glass, good and thick."
Atom flicked a second finger out, Two.
"Clay, or glue to make some if you can't find any."
"Clay!?" exclaimed Atom, "Why clay?"
Darek rolled his eyes amusedly, "You'll see."
Atom shrugged and flicked a third finger out, Three...

They continued making the list until it was time for their next class.

Grace thought for a moment, then said "Well, there is a shed out back, but it's not very big... Someone would need to give them hay and water, and take them out to graze every now and then... But it could work... There is a stable in town, but you'd have to pay to keep them there, and they wouldn't be very hidden."

Grace melted a little bit when Ace mentioned David. "Oh. Okay." She began to smile but froze when Ace's tone changed. "He happens to be the head doctor of the experimental department here," She said icily. "He was showing me the facilities and explaining the process of work. They're trying to hire me, if someone like you could be bothered to remember." Her tone dripped with sarcasm.

Seriously, just who did Ace think he was? Just because he was her brother's friend and was apparently asked to watch out for her didn't mean he had the right to be paranoid about every man that came along. Grace was old enough to decide for herself who she spent time with.

His head snapped back to her with the tone in her voice, and he sighed heavily, "I DO remember that they are interested in hiring you...I don't forget things that easily."

He shook his head, "I apologize for my own tone... I... I've had previous acquaintance with Dr. Nix and we don't get along."

"Yes, neither of those places will do. We'll need them close by, but not in the open" he began to pace, thinking. "We'll just have to keep them in the shed and put them out into the forest to graze. Though it was only a glimpse I spied a trail from the side of this inn to the forest behind it. I'll take them back their each day. Then of course they'll have to be fed a few oats." he reached into his pocket. "You've done a lot for us already, but, I must ask another favor. Could you buy some oats?" he handed her some gold pieces.

Grace nodded her head, "Sure." Grace said, as she took the money. "I'll go right away. While I'm at it I'll put the horses in the shed." Then she left the room.

Stendar watched her as she left, then went to the window, and watched her as she went across the street. He then left there and took up his seat at Liam's bedside, waiting.

Lilly watched all of the young receivers leave the room and was just about to follow them when Nan grabbed her arm to stop her. She listened to what Nan said without really comprehending any of it "Oh," She said dully and started tugging a strand of her hair; then she winced as it pulled on the nicely patched wound on her scalp. "What do you want to talk about?" well, that was a silly question, she thought. Something important of course.

Nan looked at Lilly, deep concern in her eyes.
"Listen to me very carefully, and try to understand. This, I am assured, is the most important thing you have ever heard in your life. What I am about to tell you will put you in grave danger. But you -- and everyone else -- will be in even graver danger if I do not tell you. That is why I have decided to take this enormous risk. You are being led into a trap. You and every other Reciever. And it's me who the Givers want to do the leading into that trap. They have done a very foolish thing, and thankfully it will be paid for. I won't lead you into the trap, as they are trying to force me to do. Rather, I will help you to avoid it. But as I said, we do not have much time. Though there is hope, there is no hope for me, and my days are numbered. We must work fast."

Lilly heard the words 'grave danger' and immediately her stomach tightened into a twisted knot, the last thing that she wanted was to do was put herself in a position where she might be harmed; she had been brought up to bear through pain with courage, but in that teaching she had been had been deeply bruised my the abuse that had been inflicted on her and that made her fear danger almost with a passion. "I'm listening," She said, barely able to cover a tremor in her voice "And I understand what you are saying." She tried making her face blank, but she didn't know if it would cover the fear that glazed her eyes. "there has to be hope for you." overcoming shyness she lifted her had and laid it on the older girl's shoulder.

Micah took note of the golden fletching that Traveler pointed out. "So, you're telling me that you know for sure where this arrow originated from?" That may be useful information - worth this visit to the eatery which so far seemed a waste of time.

Rokard nodded reverently when Dalin scolded him and Hegon. He then replaced his short halberd into its holding place along the side of his horse, and mounted obediently, completely putting from his mind the fight he had almost had with Hegon. Within a few moments he forgot it entirely, as he focused instead on the mission ahead.

Susan looked at Shyanne, a hand pressed to her chest. "I just heard something......it scared me. I'm sorry." she let go of a rock she was grasping and went and sat down again.

Dalin turned his horse around to face his Hunters. "We are heading back Eust. Ha!" he spurred his horse, and went galloping in the direction he just indicated.

A smile played over Traveler's face, "I know the man that made this arrow, yes indeed." He nodded, "An excellent weaponsmith"

He placed the Arrow back on the table, "And before you ask... yes, I know where he lives, or where he used to live."

Jaegar had listened to the conversation between his fellow hunters quietly, staying in the shadows as they talked. He knew it was all in fun, none of them could afford to maim or wound another member of the team.

When Dalin came and gave the orders, he nodded and climbed aboard his horse, then followed his leader.

Tess looked at the clock above one of the bookshelves and noticed how late it had gotten. "Well, I guess the tour will have to wait until after class! Speaking of which, I don't know what class we have next!" She looked at them desperately, then said cheerily "Well now we can start the tour with the lesson 'What are our timetables an Where Are Our Classes!" She broke off into laughter so light and tinkling it was almost like wind chimes.
