Nvust expression darkened. "The other Recievers will be dealt with how we see fit. I'm not here to speak of them. But you" she said, clicking finely trimmed nails on her desk.

"Me?" Dorothy asked, laying her hand over her heart. She gave a nod and looked down at her lap, feigning an apologetic look. "You must be referring to the fact that I left Sam unattended so I could wash the soup from my hair and uniform." She looked up with her last words and arched a dainty, blonde eyebrow ever so slightly.

"Yes, you left your Receiver, causing a large disturbance in the breakfast hall. Leaving your Receiver unattended is unacceptable!" she glared at Dorothy "Once more, as a guide you were picked special to be what you are, do not think we could not take this away in an instant if we wished! One word and you'd be off to punishment and I'm sure the Giver who informed you of your job, told you of that. Your excuses do not amuse me"

"Sure," Lyssa answered Tess. "Why not? I guess we could show you anything you'd like. I dont think we have anything better to do at the moment. And--" she playfully nudged Stella-- "It might keep us out of trouble for awhile."

Henry looked at Daniella in surprise, noticing her for the first time. He was a little confused because he had just been sharing his joy with his wife, and this girl in front of him seemed almost angry at him for it. But perhaps that was just his imagination -- he didnt want to falsely judge her. "Problem? What problem do you have?"

Sam waited outside the door of the room where Dorothy and Nvust were talking. Suddenly, Sam dropped to the floor in a faint -- unheard over Nvust's stern lecture coming from inside.

"Yes, of course." Dorothy's eyes narrowed a fraction. "I apologize. It won't happen again." She forced the words out with a light nod.

Stella smiled. "Oh, yes. For awhile."

Daniella tried not to roll her eyes at Henry. "My boyfriend wants me to do his homeowrk for him and tells me I'm stupid. And the guy I do like shunned me."

Vayond: The Shadowed Hunters
The butcher brought out the meat that Micah had asked for, and Micah paid the agreed on price. He began to leave, but stopped as a thought occurred to him.
“Sir,” he said, returning to the butcher, “What news can you give me of the event at the Inn last night?”
The butcher looked at him strangely. “You mean, besides the fact that it burned down last night?”
“That much is obvious… but what are people saying about it? Does anyone know what caused it?” He waited for the man’s answer. He wanted to know how much the people of the town knew.
The butcher’s eyes darted nervously, as if checking the perimeter. He leaned toward Micah slightly, and whispered in a serious voice, “Some are saying it were the Hunters. Rumor is, the main tavern was filled with bodies that had died before the fire – hacked to bits by swords, not flames.”
Micah listened intently, not letting his expression reveal that he already knew all of this. “How interesting,” he mused. “Tell me; did anyone actually see these Hunters?”
The butcher shrugged. “Not that I know of; I think it’s naught but rumors. Still, you never know these days.” He seemed finished with his statement, but then he added, “You know, there’s a fellow named Calix Marcellus; I may have heard him say something about what happened there.”
Calix Marcellus, Micah took a mental note of the name. “I’ve never heard of him. Does this Calix live here in town?”
The butcher shook his head negatively. “Oh, no. He’s a wanderer. But he’s in town today; or was this morning, anyway. With the inn burned down, the most likely place you’d find him is Tabitha’s Eatery, just down the street.”
“I didn’t ask where to find him,” Micah responded warily.
The butcher gave a knowing grin. “I know you didn’t. And if anyone asks me if you did, I’ll tell them the same.”
Micah fidgeted slightly. Had he given himself away? No matter; the butcher was willing to help, and that was all that mattered. “Thank you for the meat,” Micah said after an awkward pause, abandoning the previous conversation without a second thought. Then he left the butcher’s shop, followed by his companions.
“I want to speak with this Calix,” Micah said once they were outside. “The others are waiting for breakfast, though. It may be best if I go alone, and meet up with you later at the shelter.”

"Not going to happen again..." Nvust almost scoffed "It better not happen again. Or things will become quite unpleasant here for you." she stared at her desk for a minute, contemplating her next move. "You may go and return to your Receiver at once."

Susanne looked at Shyanne, wide eyed and currently as frightened as she. The voice from above didn't sound hostile or even dangerous, but the fact remained that it was a strangers voice. Jarien was speaking with whom ever it was at that moment, and neither of them had any need to talk. But Shyanne whispered something and Susanne nodded. "Yes, I hope he does"

Dorothy nodded and stood. "Yes, Ms. Nvust." She lowered herself in a curtsy once again and turned toward the door. Twisting the knob, she pushed the door open and stepped out, only to nearly tread on Sam.
With a slight gasp, Dorothy squatted down and said, "Sam?"
She stood, turned and said, "Ms. Nvust!"

Shyanne looked at Susanne again and nodded.
"Susanne," Shyanne said after a few more moments of silence. "What are we going to do?"

Falcon thought long and hard, “I’m not sure, I can’t really remember. I don’t think anyone said anything about you.” Falcon stood from his seat, “Why don’t we leave for town now.”

Calix sat in his stool, however his body was turned towards the man next to him. “So, what you are telling me.” Calix said in an excited tone, “You heard battle sounds inside the inn, like arrows and swords.”
“Yes,” the man slurred, “Just after the shadows entered.”
Shadows? Calix thought, This guy is obviously intoxicated.
“Are you sure of this?” Calix asked.
“Yes, I saw it with my.” The man said, but was interrupted with a hiccup, “my own eyes.”
“You saw it?” Calix asked. “You saw the attack?”
“Ah, no.” The man said, “but I did see something.”
The man trailed off with his words then began to take a sip from his mug. Calix pulled the mug from the mans mouth. “What did you see?”
“I saw, the beast!” the man shouted, “A terrible phoenix leaping from the top window!”
The people within the room began to laugh.
Calix shook his head, He doesn’t know a thing.
Calix then looked to Tabitha who was polishing cups behind the bar, “Why didn’t you see anything?”
“It was late at night, I was in the back.” Tabitha said, “I’m afraid your only witness was Crazy Hal here.”
“Thank you for your time.” Calix said.
“Would you like something to eat?” Tabitha asked.
“I’ll take some salted pork.” Calix said.
“Coming right up.” Tabitha said.

Falcon thought long and hard, “I’m not sure, I can’t really remember. I don’t think anyone said anything about you.” Falcon stood from his seat, “Why don’t we leave for town now."
Isla looked at him. "What? Now?"
Falcon nodded and Isla stood. "Any particular reason you want to go now? You had planned to go tomorrow. I mean, I'll go now...just wondering." Isla shrugged and smiled.

Shyanne frowned. "Going home is like willingly going to prison. There was a reason I ran away. On a normal day, you would never find me at a place like the inn."
"My father was attempting to marry me off to a horrid man." Shyanne's eyes narrowed with the thought and she sniffed, lifting her chin a notch.

“We go now because,” Falcon paused as if to gather what he was going to say. “I feel as if it may be right time to go. Also, I know someone who might know something about you.”
Falcon stood from his seat and began to pack his things, “don’t get your hopes up, they may not have answer.”

Isla grinned and then frowned. She moved toward the chest, opened it and pulled the letter out. She folded it and stuffed it in a small pouch attached to a loose leather belt. "Can I at least know who it is?"
She swept her dark hair into a rough pony-tail and tied it up with a leather cord. She pulled on a pair of moccasin-type shoes. Next, her hands were covered in light-brown, soft leather gloves that reached to her elbows. Her slightly belled sleeves hid most of the glove from sight.
The last items she grabbed were her swords, which she placed on her back in two crossed sheathes.
"Ready." She chimed when she was done.

“I shall tell you when we get there.” Falcon said, grabbing his pouch full of daggers. Then he grabbed his sword and attached it to his back. “Let’s go.”
Falcon walked out the door and began to walk down the pathway into the forest. I hope she will know something about her.
