"No, I don't wish I could play soccer!" Kevin answered angrily. "Soccer is a loser's sport. And why would you want to try to play it anyway? It's not like you'd be good at it. You can't even remember to meet me in the halls after breakfast. How could you remember how to play some stupid game right?"
He sighed. "Anyway, I have some homework I need you to do for me. And it better be A+ work this time. If I get any more Bs or Cs, I'm going to get in trouble with Nvust."

FIghting the tears forming in her eyes, Daniella wante d to yell at him and tell him to do it himself! How she wished she were with Brownie or Dan right now! They were nicer than this jerk. "I don't know if I can."

"Well you'd better, or you'll catch it," Kevin answered her. "Besides, it's good practice. It's not like you'd be able to pass your own tests if I didn't make you do mine too. It's the practice I've given you that has kept your grades up. I'm doing you a favor, really."

Daniella chocked back a sob. He was right. There was no way she could do well unless she did hi work too. It helped her learn more. "I'm sorry, Kevin. I'll get right to it."
She ran off down the hall, into her room and shut the door. The moment she sat on her bed, she let out a cry.

As Henry taught Tess, his wife Janiece sat in a chair by the bedroom door, watching and smiling. She adored Henry and thought him the best teacher in all the worlds.
Suddenly she heard weeping and running from outside, in the hall.
"Excuse me for a second, you guys."
She stood up, and walked out, just in time to see Daniella disappear through a door. She didn't know that girl yet, since she just arrived and sat at a different table, but she decided to help.
She knocked on the door. "Are you alright, miss?"

Through her sobs, Daniella hear a kind voice asking if she was okay. SHe walked up to the door, opening it just a crack. "I can't do anything right. I'm a failure and a bad girl friend." She burst into tears somemore.

Stella looked coolly at Daniella, but she said nothing. Her gaze shifted to Lyssa and she smiled lightly. "Yes, it does get boring."
Before Stella could say anything to Daniella, she left with Kevin. "Well, that's just great." She rolled her eyes and ran a hand through her dark hair. "Perfect timing..."
The door to the library opened and Miss Tivvens entered. Stella watched her, eyes unwavering. She watched as the Giver marched up to Dan and told him to go to her office. "Uh-oh," Stella said to Lyssa, "looks like someone's in trouble."

As Tess listened to Henry, out of the corner of her eye, she saw Janiece leave the room right after someone ran past crying. She barely noticed this though, as she was having such a great time! " um excuse me, sorry to interrupt but I would really like to accept Jesus into my life! It sounds like the right thing to do and I'm inspired by it! Please, will you tell me how???" Tess looked up into Henry's eyes and knew he understood.

Vayond: The Shadowed Hunters
Calix walked out down the lonely streets of the town, the huge mess from the burning that had taken place was still there. Calix sighed as he looked at it, he was saddened by the fact that so many had died in that place. Calix approached the ashes, and stared down at it. He looked down at the charred remains of one of the victims and noticed something sticking in his chest. After bending down, Calix realized that it was the shaft of an arrow. “This wasn’t just a fire. Something went down here.” Calix stood and looked around. “I wonder if anyone around here knows what happened.”

Raven accepted Cale's hand up, then brushed her hands on her pantlegs as she surveyed the tree house. "I take it no one's lived here for a while?" she asked.
When Cale opened the hatch, she stepped closer, keeping out of the way while trying to get a better look. "Another ladder?"
Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it. - Rabbi Tarfon

Brownie was touched by Lilly's story of her world and the tears she shed over it. "I'm sorry about the evils in that world, and the beauty you lost when you came here. I'm especially sorry for the evils you have to endure now that you're trapped here."
He was trying to think of something more to say, but just at that moment they arrived at the theater. "Well, here we are. I will talk to you later, Lilly. Perhaps in a couple of hours -- I will tell you more later! For now I have to go. Good luck with your first lessons with Nan!"
And with one last smile, and a goodbye, he walked off. He had to find Darek as quickly as he could.
Lilly Waved goodbye, gathered her courage, pushed open the doors to the theater and stepped inside.

Dorothy's gaze became steely. "I wouldn't have left Sam if some people in this Academy weren't so immature."
"And I refuse to sink to your level, Mckenzie." Dorothy said, her tone matching her gaze.
Mckenzie Looked down at Dorothy who wasn't short but he was still taller and grinned again "Too bad, because last I knew you were still shorter than me and I don't see that changing any time soon." He gave a shrug and walked off. why must people always spoil my fun, he thought, Now I almost feel sorry that I did it which makes it lose all of the fun. He frowned as he reached his bedroom door.

Dan followed Tivvens reluctantly, what had he done to deserve this? He felt like screaming at all of the Givers to just give up and let them be, but he knew better than to follow through with these whims, they could only make it worse.

Dorothy's hands formed fists and she fumed as Mckenzie walked away. She glanced around, located Sam and quickly walked towards her. "Sam, please don't run away, or we'll both be punished."

Janiece's heart broke for the girl on the other side of the door. "I'm sorry, miss, for whatever you are going through. If you let me in, we could talk about it if you'd like."
~
Lyssa nodded toward Stella. She wondered what Dan had done to get in trouble, or if he was in trouble at all. It didn't make much sense. She laughed. "It's kind of funny, you know. I mean, when you think about it, I've done more to deserve Punishment than he ever has. Has he ever broken a rule?"
~
Tivvens led Dan into her office and sat him down in the chair.
Then, strangely, she gave him a very cheerful, friendly smile (Something the Receivers thought she wasn't even capable of doing).
"A great honor is about to be bestowed on you!" she announced. She leaned closer to him, lowering her voice to a whisper (the way most best friends do when they're telling eachother secrets). "Any guess as to what it is?"
~
"I don't fear Punishment," Sam replied, "But I run away from nothing and no one. And so, you are safe from me for now."

Henry smiled at Tess. He loved to hear of anyone wanting to come to the Lord. He explained to her the story of the fall of man, of the beginning of sin, how we can only get to heaven if we are perfect -- which no one is, and how Jesus came to earth to die for our sin and cleans us of them if only we would accept Him as our Savior, and how we will spend eternity with Him if we do. He spoke beautifully, and in a way not at all condescending, and very easy to understand. If you had heard him, you probably would say he was the best preacher and speaker you had ever heard. He spoke to Tess (and everyone else) like an equal, instead of the way most teachers or preachers speak to their students. When he talked, his words held your attention the way the most beautiful scenery could hold your gaze. And once you began to listen to him, you never wanted him to stop.
"This is a free gift for you Tess," he said. "But before you can receive it, you have to tell Jesus that you would like to accept it. Would you like me to say the prayer with you?"
~
Inside the theater, Nan was surrounded by a group of young Receivers. She was thought of as a mother to many, so it was not unusual for their to be a crowd around her.
She looked up. "Ah! My student! All of you must depart for now, but I will be glad to help you with all of your troubles later. For the next few hours, I am a Guide instead of a mother or friend."
The children walked a little ways from Nan, but they wouldn't leave the theater. Nan looked at them strangely. The children stared at one another awkwardly, then one spoke, "We... we have orders from the Givers to stay. They wanted us to watch you teach her. We... we aren't sure why."
Nan's face sunk. "I see... well, it's alright. I know why, and I should have guessed. Indeed, it's quite alright. I don't blame any of you of course."
Nan turned to Lilly. "Anyway, we might as well begin. Do you have any questions before we start?"
