Stevie smiled at Will's reflection on libraries, but Lyssa was trying not to roll her eyes. Why did she ever go back on the promise she made to herself to never talk to people again?
"That sounds like a lovely idea," Stevie answered. "Let's go."

Alder smiled at Kasey. "Okay. Don't tell the Givers -- I don't want to get into trouble, but... this is Harold." She opened her cupped hands just a tiny bit (so as not to frighten Kasey, just in case it might be something Kasey was afraid of) and revealed the little whiskered face of a grey rat.

"Great!" Henry said to Tess.
They led her to their room, and they all sat down inside.
"Now," Henry began, "I can enjoy teaching a Bible lesson on pretty much any subject, but I want it to be something that particularly interests you. My teachings are for the learner anyway, and not for myself. Is there anything specific you would like to learn about?"

Brownie was touched by Lilly's story of her world and the tears she shed over it. "I'm sorry about the evils in that world, and the beauty you lost when you came here. I'm especially sorry for the evils you have to endure now that you're trapped here."
He was trying to think of something more to say, but just at that moment they arrived at the theater. "Well, here we are. I will talk to you later, Lilly. Perhaps in a couple of hours -- I will tell you more later! For now I have to go. Good luck with your first lessons with Nan!"
And with one last smile, and a goodbye, he walked off. He had to find Darek as quickly as he could.

Tivvens was in her office documenting Dorothy's leaving her Reciever, when there was a knock at the door. She looked up confused. "Enter."
The door opened. It was Kevin. "Well?" he asked.
"Well?" she asked back.
"Where is it? When do I get it?"
"You will get it," she answered angrily, "at the end. The job isn't finished yet."

"I am just as I say and nothing more," Brendlyn replied. "I was born in these wildlands, have always lived in the wildlands, and know nothing more than the wildlands -- but it is knowledge enough for me. You can trust me because there is nothing I could gain from betraying or harming you, but plenty to gain if I came to your assistance. We have a common enemy. And if I die by destroying that enemy we share, then I have died with good purpose. My parents were killed by their swords, and they will die by mine. But you have not wronged me, and so I will not wrong you. What I say is the truth, for the truth is all I tell -- anything but truth is fitting for no one but a coward or villain."

Tess was happy for the first time since she came to Brywahr. She followed Henry and his wife to their room and waited patiently while Henry asked her what she would like to learn about. For the first time she got a little shy "To tell you the truth, I don't know much about anything! I have done one bible study before but I can't remember what we talked about. Whatever you think we should start with, we'll start with that!"

Dorothy's gaze became steely. "I wouldn't have left Sam if some people in this Academy weren't so immature."

"And I refuse to sink to your level, Mckenzie." Dorothy said, her tone matching her gaze.

Stella smiled at Will's writing. "That's pretty good."

As they walked toward the library, Stella fell back from Stevie and Will. She leaned toward Lyssa and said, "I was actually being serious when I said I was hitting people, you know...When you see Dorothy, you'll know what I mean." She chuckled.

"And I'm not going to the library to read. I'm going to talk to Daniella about a certain curly-headed blonde we all know and don't exactly love."

Still standing, Daniella read through pages of the wonderful sport, the one she missed. She was suprised such a wonderful book would be in a horrid, dull place like this. She looked from the book, to see Stella, Lyssa, Will and Stevie.

Lyssa smiled. "Seriously? You hit Dorothy?" she laughed. "That's rich. Wait, you're not going to egg on that fight between her and Daniella are you?" She hoped Stella would say yes.

Stevie smiled at Will. She had never really got to see him up close until today, and at breakfast had thought he was rather cute. Having an over-active imagination, by the time breakfast was over, she had got it in her head that they were going to become a couple someday. "Hi," she said with a smile. "So, how long have you been at Brywahr?"

Kasey looked close, then at once saw the rat. She gasped, the furry little animal surprising her, then regained her composure and grinned "How cute!" She leaned down to get a better view "Where did you find him?"

"Yes, I hit Dorothy. Strangely, I sort of felt bad after I did..." Stella shook her head. "I don't know what I'm going to do with Daniella and Dorothy. If I want to keep my peace and quiet, I'd put an end to it, but this is the first excitement we've had in a long time..."

Daniella overheard Stella mention something about stopping the feud. Part of her sounded as if she enjoyed the feud and part sounded like she did not. "Stella? What are you all talking about?"

Micah put a hand on Edmund's shoulder, and shook his head when he looked at him "We'll take your cheapest meat Butcher" he said politely

"I've got a plan" Stretch said and looked over at a parked speeder across the street. "That’s a MESS undercover cop speeder, the cop is in the donut shop behind the speeder, if we could steal it we could get out of here"

When Zakk reached the edge of the city limits he radioed back to CYG “Ok, we are going to Ditto Town, that place is a whole different monster from Monsteropils, no pun intended, the MESS forces there are a lot tighter there, due to the threat of a real rebellion.

When Cale reached the rotting tree house platform he looked around, then he helped Rachel up into the tree house, he extended his hand to Raven as well. VACs looked around “Boy, if I wasn’t the size I am I’d be scared out of my shell in this rickety shack. He looked up at the others “Now I bet that if any of you stepped in the wrong place this tree house will fall apart”

“Yeah, we really don’t want to hear that” said Shrims as he climbed up behind Raven. Cale opened a small hatch in the floor and revealed a tunnel that seemed to run all the way down the trunk of the tree “That’s our entrance” he said, pointing downwards.

“I’ve been here for almost a year now, and it’s grown so dear to my heart.” Will said with a sarcastic face, and then he smiled. “How about you?”

Lyssa smiled at Stella. “Very true. You know with all the fear around this place, it’s amazing how boring it can get.”
She turned to look at Daniella who was asking them what they were talking about. Lyssa tried to stifle the urge to look nervously in Stella’s direction. “Don’t bother your head about it, Daniella. We’re just talking.”

Stevie giggled at Will’s sarcasm a little louder than was respectable -- as only the silliest, flirtiest girls do. Then she realized how ridiculous it had sounded, and she coughed nervously. “Um, anyway…” In her nervousness, she had forgotten what Will had asked her. “Oh yeah. Oh, I’ve been here for a long time. Forever it seems. It makes you wonder if we’ll ever get back home, you know?” Stevie tried to think of something that would make him talk more. She just wanted to hear his voice. “So… what do you think? Will we ever get back home? Have you written anything about it? If so, I would love to hear it.” her eyes sparkled.

Kevin slammed the door of Tivvens office as he stormed out. After not getting his way, he was angry. He needed a way to release that anger.
Suddenly, he realized that Daniella wasn’t waiting for him anywhere in the hallway. Of course, there was no real reason why she should be; but Kevin was the sort of boy who thought that every girlfriend should adore their man so much that they wait for them everywhere. He rushed off to find out where she really was.
Finally, he found her in the library. “Daniella! What are you doing in here? I’ve been looking for you for a full 15 minutes. What are you doing with these… people?”

Henry smiled at Tess. “Alright. Well, we might as well start at the beginning then. Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your eternal Lord and Savior?”

Brownie searched the halls for Darek, but didn’t see him anywhere. “Maybe he’s already back in his room,” he thought.
Brownie headed off to Darek’s room and knocked on the door.

Alder answered Kasey, “I rescued him! The givers were going to use him in an experiment (that would have killed him most likely), and I slipped him in my pocket when no one was looking.” Alder laughed. “The Givers thought he had escaped and run off, and started looking for him under tables and things. The whole experiment had to be called off. It was so funny! I don’t usually like to cause trouble, but I thought that time it would be worth it, to save his life.”

Tivvens called Nvust on her Tarbulene. “Nvust, do me a favor and find the Receiver Dorothy. As a Guide, she left her Receiver unattended, causing an uproar at breakfast. Do not send her to Punishment. Just give her a hard lecture she won’t soon forget. I would take care of it myself, but at the moment I have other business to attend to.”
She clicked the Tarbulene closed and stood up from her desk. Then she proceeded out of her office and to the library.
Tivvens then motioned to Dan. “Proceed to my office,” she said.

Daniella did not want to stop askign questions when Lyssa told her not to worry about it. She could see in their eyes somethign was up. Before she could say anything, Kevin came behind her and asked what she was doing with "these people." She lowered her head. "Sorry. I didn't know you were looking for me. Where would you like to go?"

"In the hall," Kevin answered.
He led her out of the library, then turned to look at her.
"What were you doing? Why did you leave my side?"

Daniella saw the anger in his eyes and was afraid he was going to hit her. "Sorry. I was just reading a book in the library. About soccer! I miss it so much! Don't you wish we could just go out and play soccer anytime we'd like?"
