Kasey was grateful for Alder's input, then as boy talked, she saw him touch the black book. Lilly exclaimed what Kasey had been thinking. The Bible! One might think that on her world, she had never seen the book, but she had. "The Bible...." she whispered, staring at it.

Daniella saw the sadness on Tess' face. "You miss her. I had a friend in my old life. I was going to go to her house for a sleepover, then suddenly ended up here. Wonder if anyone out there is thinking about me, about what happened to me..." This stirred up more anger. "Don't these people who work here care about anyone's feelings?"

"You're a pastor?" Lilly asked, she was slightly confused, was this boy older than he looked? Never mind that he was a pastor no matter how old her was "Will you teach us, please? oh, I'd be ever so grateful if you would teach us." She hadn't meant to beg but, this was one thing that she was dying to know, "And please since you only got here yesterday, do you know what day it is? and what month?"

Dan watched Daniella comforting Tess and thought that she wasn't half bad at it, she was perhaps a little rough on the outside, but for an eleven year old she knew all too well what this life was all about. If only there were a way to protect all of these kids from the doom that was sure to befall every one of them.

Vayond: The Shadowed Hunters

"I don't know who they belong too!" Grace said defensively. "I don't know who rides horses and who doesn't, I don't know who's horses belong to who! How am I supposed to know those kinds of things? I haven't even been outside since this afternoon." Grace stared him in the eye, she look rather annoyed, and very uncomfortable. She noticed that he was trying to corner her, so she moved closer to the counter again, knowing that if he tried to do anything she could easily get over the counter. She gave him a defiant look. Then repeated, "I don't know who they belong too, and I'm trying to close down! If you would just leave now!? As soon as I close I'm going to bed, I'm very tired! So really, could you be so kind as to come back another time?" Grace gave him a cute, innocent expression. "Please?..." She said slightly cocking her head.

Atom laughed delightedly at Stella's description of what was likely to happen, and bounced in his seat with delicious anticipation. Darek chuckled softly at his friend's reaction and glanced at him fondly before bowing his head to his soup again. "No doubt," he said, without looking up, "It will add some amount of excitement to this dull place."

Atom sobered at Stevie's agreement, and his eyes grew very sad, big and round as they already were, "It's really terrible to even think such a thing..." he glanced over at Brownie again, "But... How far is something supposed to go before you must begin to stop being nice and over looking it and start seeing it for what it is?" He blushed again and bowed his curly head, "At least," he mumbled, "That's how I see it."
Darek changed the subject that was obviously distressing Atom with the sudden remark, "I wonder what the broth to water ratio is in this soup?"
Atom jerked his head up with a look of absolute incredulity. "For pete's sake Darek, who cares?!"
"Me," replied Darek with complete sincerity.
Atom dropped his forehead to the table with a bang, "You do realize," he said, his voice muffled by the table, "How very hopeless you are, don't you?"
Darek chuckled again, his blue eyes warm and pleasant, "I am acutely aware of it, all the more so because you never let me forget." He was pleased to have broken Atom's mood, and he now relapsed into silence, his purpose fulfilled.

Dorothy twirled a ringlet around her finger and then she released it. After turning away from the mirror, she opened the door and headed back downstairs to Sam. She was cleaned up and ready to face the day again.

As she entered the dining room, things became slightly more quiet. Dorothy refused to make eye contact with anyone. She only marched up to Sam, leaned down slightly and said, "Sam, please hurry and eat your food."

Stella shook her head. "I don't think this place is very dull. I mean, there is a world of opportunities and adventures in the library. You can be whoever you want to be and live wherever you want to live in there."

"I agree, that Library is fascinating." Will said, "Not only does it have stories from my world, which I've read almost all of them, but it also has stories from other worlds; stories and ideas I've never given thought to."
Will looked over to Dorothy who looked as though she was on a mission. "Other things also make this thing far from dull." Will said, "I mean look at how three new people came, and Dorothy got a bowl of hot soup in her face all in the same day."
"Speaking of books this all reminds me of the Salem House in David Copperfield. It even has people who are almost worse then the ruthless headmaster, Mr. Creakle." Will said, "I used to read that story thinking of how interesting it would be to go threw that, but also glad I never would. Now look, I've been here a year now; trapped."

Daniella snapped at Dorothy. "Maybe she isn't hungry. Maybe being near you ruined her appetite." She could not help the insults coming out of her mouth now. It seemed Dorothy was never going to change and if she did, it would be for the worse.

"If it was a regular school, I wouldn't mind living here..." Stella said. "Especially if we were allowed outside," she added as an after thought.

Dorothy looked at Daniella, her eyes narrowing slightly. However, she quickly replaced the expression with a mirthless and vindictive smile. "Maybe it's you who ruined her appetite. After all, you had that effect on me."

Dan noticed that another fight was bound and determined to break out, but her wouldn't let, he could just imagine every kid in here being sent too punishment and that's not what he wanted to see happen.
"I don't care who ruined who's appetite, but what I do care about is not getting sent to punishment and if you two get too carried away with insults and jabs and whatever other whatnot you might have against each other it's certain to get every single one of the rest of us in trouble." He pictured the two girls ripping the other's hair out and other students coming to jeer them on, no that's not what he wanted to happen at all. "Come on, can't we all just let the whole past go and begin anew being friends?"

Dorothy looked at Dan and shook her head. "Unfortunately, I don't make it a personal goal to become friends with the likes of any of you."

And with that, Dorothy turned on her heels and gracefully walked toward the door, her chin lifted.

Daniella sighed, as Dan talked some sense into her. "Sorry. I got carried away again, didn't I?" She turned to Sam, "Are you okay?"

"That's alright, Daniella, It was probably a hopeless endeavor any way..." He sighed and returned his attentions to the watery soup... It was at least food.

Return of the Fountain Fellowship

"Not really," David said frankly, turning to Ace. "I haven't seen her in ten years. Or more." He laughed, almost bitterly. "See, I can't even remember. I can't believe she recognized me."

He began walking a little bit, thinking that Ace would follow.

A Modly Announcement

Greetings, Fountaineers!

Just a few reminders for ya'll.

First, please remember your labels. I know its easy to forget to mark which story you're posting for, but it is very helpful to the other writers.

Secondly, posts need to be kept G/PG. I've been off-duty, if that's possible, and just finished reading about 15 pages of Fountain, and I found some near borderline items, so please tuck this in the back of your brain.

Thirdly, while this isn't a hard and fast rule (i.e., we may perchance have mercy on you), do try to stay within the maximum word count.

Finally, it wouldn't hurt to take a refresher course on rules every now and then. A few posts to scan would be here, here and here.
