Vayond: The Shadowed Hunters

As soon as the girl began to come to, Micah rushed to her side, as did her other rescuer. He thought about lifting her head a bit, but didn't know whether that would hurt her or not; being a blacksmith, he didn't have many talents for the tender arts of medical care. "We have sent for a physician, miss. Just rest. As he said, you are quite safe here." Micah looked to Shyanne, and smiled gratefully. "Thank you for offering your room, Shyanne. It is very kind of you. Do you think we should move her up there?" The trip up the stairs seemed a hazardous endeavor, and it might not be comfortable for the girl. He turned to her. "Would you like to lie down upstairs, or sit here for a bit? Are you hungry? Would you like a drink?" He realized he was flooding her with questions, so he closed his mouth and awaited whatever answer she was able to give.

Return of the Fountain Fellowship

Raven pondered Kay's suggestion as Kay raced to save her eggs.

It wouldn't do to be too negative right at the start, and work was work after all; but something about the way Kay had said what she did made Raven ask hesitantly, "Why, exactly, does no one really like the Senate?"

Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it. - Rabbi Tarfon

Cale looked over at Raven, before looking back at Stretch "Watch my back" he whispered before walking over and sitting down across from her and began "Because, at one time Dinotopia was not like this. Back then my friend people were allowed to do whatever they wished- Given their intentions were true and just. There was hardly even a government, the people enforced the laws"

Cale continued with his story after making sure Kay wasn't looking "But then nine years ago, the senate diplomatically kicked out our protectors, the Green Lanterns. Convincing them that they would take over ruling Dinotopia and do it fairly and justly" A this a group of people walked in and sat down so he lowered his voice.

"However it was here the Lantern's failed us, and as soon as the Lantern left the planet they put up a ray shield, keeping anyone from getting in. Or out, then they all but exterminated the Jedi, kicked out the Maximals and smashed the fellowship, that miss Raven is why everyone hates the senate"

Gabriel withdrew alongside the others, wondering why. Why they were after this young girl. However he knew better then to question the boss. Still he was confused as to how someone that young could raise the ire of the king. Something wasn’t connecting. Something was wrong, but he listened to orders and never questioned them. Never.

He threw his saddle on the horse and began fastening it, a skill he had honed with years of practice. Within a minute he had it on and was climbing into the saddle, ready and waiting “Hey boss, what now?” he questioned.

If you ain't first, you're last.

Aeryn smiled slightly behind her veil. "Not many people have said that to me. It comes as a slight shock, in fact."

Shyanne sat down, out of the way, and watched, eyes wide. "Perhaps you should wait for the physician to come, before you move her..."

Vayond: The Shadowed Hunters

“Same here.” Hinvi said, “You see for the past year or so, I’ve been traveling without any good sign of a people, which is different from my usually way of travel were I stop at as much towns as I pass, but this time I decided to stay alone the whole time, and it really wasn’t that great at all. So I said to myself, 'Hinvi, you need to make a friend when you get out of this solitude.' I think I found one." Hinvi smiled.

The silence that had enshrouded the group of Hunters for the past hour was shattered when Gabriel asked what would happen next. Rokard rolled his eyes; Gabriel often asked such questions. Of course, Rokard would also have liked to know what they would do next; it’s just that he preferred quiet rather than conversation, and it always bothered him slightly when someone destroyed a perfectly good silence. Now that Gabriel had spoken, however, there was no use wishing for silence to return, so Rokard waved it away and joined the question aimed at their leader. “Do we hunt the wench down tonight, or tomorrow?”

Aeryn exhaled, but was silent other than that. A twig snapped and she instinctively reached for her quiver. Her index and middle finger rubbed against the red feathers as she pulled an arrow from her quiver.

"Ha!" Aeryn shouted. A flock of pheasants flew up from the brush, frightened. Quickly, Aeryn strung her bow and shot. A large pheasant with brightly-colored feathers fell from the sky.

"Hungry?" Aeryn said, retrieving the plump bird.

Hinvi looked at the plump bird in Aeryn’s hand, and then he pulled out the limp body of the squirrel. “I should say it would be a far better eat then this poor guy.” Hinvi said, “Why don’t we make a stew with the meat, I found some beats, onions, and truffles earlier, and I think we are near a good stream.”
Hinvi proceeded to pull out a pot, and a small cylinder like container, “This is the best stew seasoning I’ve ever come in contact with. I found it a few years back, and I bought as much from the peddler that I could afford.” Hinvi smiled with the thought of tasting something made with the seasoning, Then he looked down, “Aha!” Hinvi exclaimed, “Mushrooms!”

Aeryn watched as Hinvi began to pull the pot out of his pack. It wasn't a large pot, but it looked stury and clean, for the most part. She set the bird down and took the tin container from him. Removing the lid, she took a sniff of it. Smells of different seasonings assaulted her senses and made her mouth water. She hadn't realized it, but she was famished and ready for a meal.

"Stream is that way." Aeryn pointed. She pulled the arrow out of the bird, wiped it off on her cloak and placed it back in her quiver. Chyrr jumped off her shoulder to inspect the bird. Aeryn brushed him away with her fingertips. "Not yet, silly."

Aeryn grabbed the pheasant and started off toward the stream. Chyrr followed at her heels, clucking with excitement at the prospect of a meal. As they made their way toward the stream, Aeryn started to pull the feathers from the bird. However, instead of dropping them, she put them in a pocket on the outside of her satchel.

Hinvi followed Aeryn close behind, then as she pulled the feathers from the pheasant, he sat on a large stone and began to skin the squirrel. After he finished, he sliced the meat, and stuck his knife in a nearby log. Then he began to boil the water with the ingredients that he had, while he waited on the pheasant meat.

Return of the Fountain Fellowship

Kay saved the eggs with minimal difficulty by turning off the heat and removing them from the burner. At least, she thought optimistically, they looked alright! Kay tipped the pot over the large sink and used its lid as a sort of strainer to get all of the water out. By the time she'd rinsed them and stuck them in the fridge, several minutes had passed.

"That's that!" Kay said, wiping her eggy hands off on her apron and making her way back out. "Sorry about that!" She said, spotting Raven and smiling apologetically. "I'm pretty new at this and--" She broke off, spotting Cale. "Oh, hi Cale!" Kay didn't want to intrude, so she set about clearing up drink glasses and straightening things.

Edmund saw the girl's face whiten and said to Micha, "I think she could use a wet washcloth. SHe lloks rather ill." Not giving anyone a chance to react, He turned to SHaynne. "Where are the washcloths? I'll get them myself."

Aeryn prepared the bird for the stew. When all was ready, she put the meat in the pot and cleaned off her knife. She looked at Hinvi as they waited for the meal to cook. "Have any family, Hinvi?"

Shyanne shook her head. "I have only been here for a little while," she said to Edmund. "I do not know where anything is..."

“Family?” Hinvi asked, “That’s somethin’ I haven’t thought about in a long time.”
Hinvi looked on painfully in the distance, small fluttering memories flashed in his mind. “What about you? Do you have any family?”

Falcon continued to eat his food, intent on finishing up, and going up stairs to rest so that he could leave the next morning. He noticed some sort of commotion going on in the room, but he didn’t pay it much attention; after all, it wasn’t really his place to go over there and get involved, nor was it his problem.
