Funny Thing

I listened to sweeet and Lady A's conversation and started to wonder about my own other self...then decided not to. Although I'd never give anyone (let alone myself) a terribly unhappy ending, it was still pretty mind-boggling to think about what you're actually doing when you're not actually doing the doing.

Once we entered the Realms, I wandered up and down the aisles, just looking. I wondered what sort of fiction they had - it didn't seem like they would need any fiction with such an interesting history. I noticed books on the histories of the Mansion and the Elves, and a couple on the Ditto Jedi. I wondered if Sholi was mentioned, but decided not to look, since it might reveal some spoilers for Secret Origins.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

It was late and I was in my pajamas, an old and very badly tye-dyed T-shirt, my favorite gray sweatpants, and the warmest moccasins in the world. It had been a long day, and I should've been getting to sleep, but when I got into bed I began to listen to my iPod instead, some Hawk Nelson to be specific. I decided to see if I could check NarniaWeb, even though there wasn't often a WiFi connection in this part of the house. This was one of the lucky times, so I typed in the address and pushed enter.

Suddenly it went dark. I figured something was wrong with my iPod, and tried to push the home button. It worked, and the light came back on but I wasn't in my bed anymore. I was in an extremely dark room, and when I flashed my iPod around to see what it looked like I found it was full of wires. Now I started to panic, and wondered if I had fallen asleep before hand and this was just a dream. I tripped on one of the wires and fell, definitely not a dream I thought to myself as I wiped my scrapped knee. I saw a door at the far end of the room, so I walked towards it, dodging wires on the way, and opened it. There was a rush of water that, strangely enough, sucked me into the door, and I swam up frantically trying to get to the top. I coughed as I reached the surface, and grabbed hold of the edge of something...when I wiped the water out of my face and looked around I found it was a fountain. Ditto Fountain was the first thing the came into my mind as I clumsily climbed out.

I looked around and had absolutely no idea what to do. I realize I was still clutching my iPod, which was probably broken now, but I put it in my pocket anyways. When I looked down I saw some footprints on the ground and, since I didn't have any other choice, decided to follow, hoping to find some other NarniaWebbers who knew more about this world than me. I kept walking, trying to wring out my clothes and hair along the way, and came to the sign of the Realms Bookstore, where the footprints went inside. I quietly opened the door and walked inside, hoping it was okay considering I was still soaking wet despite my attempts to dry off.

((I'm hope this was an ok way to get into Ditto Town :] and that the ground can make footprints :P))

A Funny Thing Happened

I remembered to begin breathing again. It was quite a shock to meet one of my characters. Especially a character I hadn't defined yet. Not particularly, anyways. I swallowed and remembered to speak, "I'm Tina."

"It's nice to meet you." The tatterdemalion said. Her voice was sweet, but it carried the sad lilt that I'd always imagined to accompany tatterdemalion speech.

"You too." I said. I couldn't look at her eerily glowing, sometimes-transparent and sometimes-not face, so I looked at her book.

Evory followed my line of sight and held the book up. "Do you want this?" She asked, offering the book to me. I could see plainly that she didn't want to give it up, but was willing to sacrifice her own wants so that others could have what they wanted.

"No, no." I shook my head.

A Funny Thing Happened
I decided to wander around the Realms like everyone else, but stuck fairly close to Ryan since she seemed to know what she was doing. As I browsed through the shelves, reading over book titles, I wondered if any of the people I had written with back in the old days would show up, or if this phenomenon would only affect the current writers. I'd always wanted to meet Apprentice, Puddleglum&Faun, and Alatariel, and meeting them in Ditto Town would have the epitome of awesome. Of course, being here with the current writers wasn't that bad either.

Man, of all the times to not have my camera, I thought. This would make an awesome vlog. Remembering that my cell phone could take pictures (though I couldn't get them off of it), I opened the velcro flap on my belt pouch and pulled the phone out. I started taking as many pictures and video clips as I could.

At least I'll have some proof of all this when I get back, I thought with satisfaction.

A (Slightly) Less Normal Life
Solarflare cruised over the southern ocean. They'd been flying for a couple hours now, and had traveled in relative silence. As a rapidly approaching dot appeared on the horizon ahead, Solarflare spoke up.

"There it is!" he said. "Ditto Metru. Please fasten your safety belts and make sure your seats are in the upright an locked position."

Chip dutifully began to look around and fiddle with the seat to comply, prompting a chuckle from the Autobot.

"I was kidding, Professor," Solarflare said. "Just hang on. It might get a bit rough.

"Air currents and all that?" Chip asked.

"Umm... not quite." Before Solarflare could elaborate, his radio suddenly crackled to life.

"Incoming aircraft, you are approaching the sovereign nation of Ditto Metru. Our borders are closed. Entering our airspace is prohibited. Please alter your course accordingly."

"Hey guys!" Solarflare replied cheerfully. "It's alright, it's Solarflare. I've come for another visit to the Lord Overseer."

"You are not authorized to enter our airspace," the voice replied. "Alter your course or we will open fire."

"I thought you said you knew the Lord Overseer?" Chip asked, panic edging his voice.

"Well, I never said we were on good terms," the Autobot replied, his voice mischievous. "Hang on, I'm going in!" Diving sharply, Solarflare dropped down to about a hundred feet above the ocean's surface. Explosions from anti-aircraft flak guns burst above him as he rocketed towards Ditto Metru.

A funny thing
I settled on the history section and went strait for the book of family lines, looked up b and there they were; third row down.
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/13200269/family?fpid=-108746569#pedigree=-108736154 "wow! Zack, you gotta come see this. They have it all the way up to Matthew Benidict" I almost shouted.

I tried my hardest not to smirk while Zack was taking pictures. For some reason I always seemed to smirk when someone was taking pictures and I wasn't looking at the camera/phone/whatever. However I was able to control myself when I noticed something was missing.

"That's strange," I said aloud. "They've got books here that tell about all the major villains that have come through Ditto Town, but nothing on Le Loup Noir. Could it be because he's too new?" I glanced over at Drake.

"Have you ever heard of Le Loup Noir?" I asked. "His symbol is a black wolf howling at a full moon." I had not seen any photo of it in any of the books I had just browsed through.

A (Slightly) Less Normal Life

Jakov held on tightly to the edges of his seat, doing his best to keep his mouth shut, otherwise he might have bitten his tongue. He could hear the anti-aircraft guns going off, and he twisted slightly in his seat to try and catch sight of them. Unfortunately there was little room to twist, and so he did not see anything but sky rushing past and the occasional burst of light from the arsenal exploding above them.

Shutting his eyes briefly, Jakov concentrated hard. Suddenly one of the flak guns turned slowly and fired on the other ones. Several of the guns exploded. The rogue gun missed a couple, and was promptly fired upon itself by those who had caught on and thought there was mutiny going on.

Jakov opened his eyes and smiled faintly as security flooded the scene, trying to make sense of it, the Autobot momentarily forgotten.

((I hope that's okay, Zack. If not I can edit. :) ))

I started walking through the aisles, trying to find someone to ask what was going on. There were hundreds of books on the shelves, and I was tempted to look at some of them, but the thought that I had no idea what was going on stopped me  and I continued looking for someone. I reached the history section and stopped when I saw a boy around my age reading a book. I walked up to him. "You wouldn't happen to be Joe?" I asked.

"Why yes" I said to the girl "And which Narniaweber are you?" I added as I sat down the book. I was trying to figure out who though, not eusy to young. Most other arthord were older than me, hummy was already here so I figured this must be either Queen Su or Greeny. I went with Greeny "Greenleaf?"

"No yelling in the library," I whispered over to Joe, before remembering this was a bookstore, bot a library. Whatever. Same concept.

He was talking to a girl about our ages, so I bounced over, hoping I wouldn't be the youngest anymore.

"Yep." I said, stepping away from the book so I wouldn't drip water on it. I'd dried off a little on my walk, but not much. "What's in the world is going on?" I asked. Then I saw another girl come over, "Hummy?" I asked. Hummy was the only girl the age this girl looked that I could remember RPing in the Fountain.

Restart

With newspaper in hand, Ty stormed into the hospital, ignoring the calls of reporters and paparazzi. He slammed the newspaper on the front desk and jabbed his finger at the headline.

"I need to see this patient," he said through gritted teeth. "Now."

----

"Well yeah, but only because I told you too," Chase said. He unbuckled his seat belt and started to open the door. "I'm going back there and telling her it wasn't your fault," he said, his jaw set with determination.

A Funny Thing Happened

Like most of the others, I wandered into the history section of The Realms. I was in awe of the place. I had written more than once about it being bigger on the inside than on the outside, but I had no idea just how big. It was far larger than any bookstore I had ever seen. It was at least as long as a football field and I couldn't begin to guess how wide. Some of the shelves went all the way up to the ceiling which was at least twenty feet above the floor. It was easy to imagine getting lost within or things hiding somewhere in distant corners.

"Do you ever see any orangutans in here?" I asked Drake, who was trailing after me.

Drake looked baffled at first and then grinned," Just the one. Little banana bandit. Fairly certain he's under an enchantment, but he won't let me get close enough to try to take it off."

"That's just incredible," I said, with a big grin on my face. So L-Space was real.

Then I spotted a book on a nearby shelf that I couldn't help but pick up. It was titled Ditto Town: A History and had been authored by Drake Tome.

"But I haven't even finished the Introduction," I said softly, baffled by Ditto Town once again.

I looked up to see Drake staring at me. He'd clearly heard what I had said and I remembered at that point that both he and Cordelia had been caught up in the events of Real Life. He knew something about authors, maybe believed in them, maybe not.

"I'm beginning to think I might need some detailed answers to detailed questions," Drake said. Then Ryan asked her question and his attention was diverted.

"It's funny you would ask about him. The elves have been gathering information on him for me. They haven't delivered it yet though."

Solarflare was baffled when the turrets began firing on one another.

"Oh, stang, that's not going to go over well," he muttered as he reached a landing pad and set down. Thankfully, the turrets were controlled by remote, so no one was hurt in the fiasco.

"Hang on!" Solarflare said to his passengers as he suddenly ejected the trio and their luggage, sending them tumbling to the ground, as he transformed into his robot mode. He quickly stepped over them and stood between the passengers and the security soldiers that flooded the landing pad with blaster rifles trained on the intruders.

"Hey guys!" Solarflare said cheerfully, making sure to keep both of his hands at a safe distance from his body. "Take us to your leader!"

Meanwhile, up in the office of the Lord Overseer, Galvan Megas was listening intently to the report given to him from the chief of security over the comlink on this desk.

"Detain them on the landing pad," he said gruffly into the microphone. "I'll be down there shortly." Turning off the comm, he sighed apologetically to the two people who were sitting in the low chairs opposite him.

"You must excuse me," he said to his visitors as he moved to the door. "I need to see to this. This Autobot is constantly causing trouble for us."

"I can imagine. Solarflare always struck me as the troublemaking type," the man replied with a small smile.

A Funny Thing Happened
I continued to take in my surroundings as people talked about stuff I didn't quite understand. I listened to the conversations, and tried to figure out what was going on. I moved towards narnianerd dutifully and saw what he was looking at.

"I see," I said, not sure what else to say.

Man, I remember when we weren't even sure what world Ditto Town was on, I thought. And now there's history books about stuff we haven't even written for yet... oh crap, I hope no one's reading my mind right now. Forgot that people do that around here... um, I'm not thinking anything important right now, just looking at history books! My, my, this is all quite fascinating! I quickly changed the train of my thoughts to a, probably quite obviously fake, different direction in case anyone happened to be reading my mind.

((There better not be any authors able to read minds. :| :P))

I was slightly surprised that Drake did not have any information, but then again, Le Loup Noir was a fairly new villain. When he mentioned the elves, I started and turned to look over at Lady Arwen. I could see we had a new girl, who was dripping wet for some reason, but I tried not to get distracted and ask who she was. There would be time for introductions later . . . maybe. Hopefully. If we weren't all destroyed first. Oy.

"Do you think we could somehow go get that information from Estee?" I asked Lady A, glancing over at the two elves beside her.

A (Slightly) Less Normal Life

Jakov stood swiftly, after he went tumbling out of the Autobot, and brushed off his sport jacket. He was suddenly glad he had left his cloak behind. It would have been extremely undignified to end up caught in his own cloak.

As the security guards flooded the scene with their blasters trained on them, Jakov's hand twitched, inching to withdraw the hidden weapon at his side. He refrained from doing so however, even though it was difficult. Instead he concentrated on looking dignified, important, and aristocratic.

"I've got to go find my friends." I said, breaking the silence.

Evory blinked at me. Strange. I could see her eyes even when the lids closed. "I shall accompany you."

I didn't see any point in arguing. If she wanted to follow me, I guessed she could. The tatterdemalion carefully inserted Thumbelina back onto the shelf and then followed me out to where most of the NarniaWebbers were gathered. It was, in a weird way, kind of like a Lion Party.

"Why are you in here today? The Realms is closed, is it not?" Evory asked me as we walked.

"I...we...my friends wanted to speak with Drake Tome." I explained, trying to explain as little as possible.

"Ah, aha." She fixed her glowing blue eyes onto me. "You are far from home, Christina."

I swear that a cold wind zipped by me and made me shiver. We reached the group, though, and I did my best to ignore it and try to appear normal.

"Drake Tome." Evory greeted the keeper of the bookstore. I didn't think she knew him, but maybe she did. Who knew? I hadn't created a profile for Evory or anything, yet here she was. Anything might happen here. I wasn't in control at all.
