"Yes, for the night I think it will shield us" Quill answered back, saying it loudly as if speaking to one who could not hear the best.

Jarien perked up from his position sitting next to Adi on a fallen log in the cavern. He listened and nodded, putting a finger to his lips to tell them to be quiet. He walked over and put a hand on Edmund's shoulder, and motioned for him to go out the back of the cave. He looked at Brendlyn and whispered, "I don't know who they are, or if I can even trust you, but I have no choice... if they are not friendly we will need your help."
He then looked at Adi, and they both headed for the mouth of the cave. Jarien stayed low and peeked over the edge slightly, his white-bladed knife in his hand, ready to use it at a moment's notice.

"Oh, oh, be careful, Anne. These rocks are sharp! They'll poke right through your thin boots." Sephora said, trying to act as caring and motherly as she could. She pushed one particularly sharp rock away with her stick as they walked closer to the cave.
Beneath her hood, her blue eyes were watchful of the entrance.

Shyanne stood and went to the far wall, watching with wide eyes. She looked at Susanne and could tell that the young woman was just as wary as she was.

Brendlyn nodded at him, unable to restrain her eyes from glistening with excitement. "My bow is ever at your service," she whispered.
She then followed behind Jarien, awaiting further orders.

Tristan moved silently and invisibly through the wood, far enough away to avoid being seen but close enough to pick up voices. He pulled his dark crimson mask over his eyes, and grinned despicably. The adrenaline that always accompanied thievery rushed through his veins.
Tristan glanced through the woods, making sure each of the bandits were in the positions he wanted them in. They were hid well, but his trained eyes could see where each one was - or signs of where each one was, anyway. Then he turned to watch Sephora and Quill again, slowly approaching the opening to the cavernous section of Looter's Trench. So far, no sign could be seen of those within; but they would have to show themselves soon.

Micah's clenched fists on the hilt of his sword loosened a bit when he saw the face of the person he was confronting; just a young woman. Still, he refused to let his guard down. His mind captured her words and sifted them like wheat, looking for kernels of truth. "Information? Of what sort?" He let his sword lower a bit so as not to be threatening, but he didn't sheath it, nor did he sheath the intensity in his eyes as he watched her closely, trying to divine who she was.

Traveller left the tavern entrance a few minutes after the others, thinking and pondering over the events of the last hour. Trying to put it all together was like putting together a puzzle. What would the maker of that arrow have to do with the burning of the inn and this gentleman called 'Micah'?
He strode through the village going no place in particular, and his feet took him toward the edge of town. The sun was setting and turning everything a reddish hue, lacing the trees with golden edges.
As he stepped into the trees, the faint sound of voices caught his ear, and, as anything that might seem mysterious sparked his curiosity, he headed in that direction. He looked out from behind a tree, and behold, there was the blacksmith again, this time talking with a cloaked figure. My this lad was a busy one... he crept away, making note to ask Micah about it if they ever met again.
~~~~~~
Jarien glanced at Brendlyn and whispered, "Cover us..." then stood to his full height and took a step or two beyond the entrance to the cave. The knife flashed as it came into the fading sunlight, and then Adi stepped up next to him, her knife likewise drawn. With a glance at her, he then turned in the direction of the two figures that were approaching.
He was taken aback by their appearance. They appeared to be but a pair of women, downtrodden and broken by cares. The younger was assisting the older to walk and pick her way through the rocks heading to the cave, the older was clutching to her as if she might fall at any moment. They were both dressed in rags, and conveyed the general appearance of weary travelers.
He was a bit at a loss of what to do. Jarien had no question in his mind what he would do if dangerous individuals came upon them, but this was entirely different, and he wished Micah were here to converse with. Under his breath, he muttered, "What's keeping that blasted blacksmith...", but aloud, he called, "Hello, please halt there a moment. what do you wish here? "
Blink ducked behind a large boulder, then caught a strong whiff of Groban who was next to him.
“Oh, Groban.” Blink said in disgust. “Can’t you like hide the stink for at least a little while?”
Groban glared at Blink.
“Right, sorry.” Blink said, and then he looked over the top of the boulder again. “Soon we’ll be rolling in our reward for this work.”
"Oh!" Sephora gasped, eyes widening and her hand flying to her heart. "Oh, do not frighten people so!"
"Anne, please, I must take a rest. My head is faint and my legs weary." Sephora said, shifting on her cane. She looked at the man, "My daughter and I were not expecting anyone to be here. We do not mean to intrude."
Grace was in the Inn when the commotion started outside. At first she ignored it, but after awhile it got so loud she decided to take a look and see what it was. When she stepped outside and saw Liam, being clapped on the back, and congratulated, she was quite surprised. When the Liam was a little less crowded by people, Grace walked up to him, and said "Liam, what's going on?". Grace looked around, a few people still stood near by chattering about what Liam had just done. It sounded like quite a story...
Liam turned, hearing Grace's voice. "I helped a small girl who was being abused by a king's guard." he said, looking into her eyes. He smiled at her, then looked up at the door way of the inn. Stendar sat stood there, leaning against the frame, a dark expression on his face. Liam touched Grace's shoulder, then left the street and went to his old friend.
"What have you done!?" Stendar hissed as they walked inside together. "I heard the commotion but came out too late to see."
"I saved a child from a king's guard. He was abusing her...."
Stendar sighed. "I would have done the same. But this means we cannot stay any longer. If you let that man live-
"Which I did" Liam confirmed.
"He will surely return to the city and tell his captain. Then they will come looking for you. We have to take a leave now, before they have a chance to move in"
"I know. " Liam said, shifting his gaze to the outside.
"Good. We'll leave tomorrow morning. Early"
Liam was going to saw something, but arguing with Stendar would be pointless. But he new his friend was right. Now everyone knew him, and that guard would go back and breathe the incident to his captain, who would surely come for him. I'm wanted....I can't stay in one place. That's the way it has been for all my life. But what happens when you get your foot stuck in the door? he thought, watching Stendar return upstairs.
********
They never left. The next day dawned, bright and clear, but neither Liam's nor Stendar's horse was seen riding from the village. It went on like this for a whole week. Every day Stendar told Liam they were to leave, but they never did. Liam spent as much time as he could with Grace, talking with her, and trying to get to know everything about her. Every night he waited up for her, to tell her goodnight, after her work was finished, and he no longer hid from the towns folk. They approached him openly and talked with him freely. Then sunday arrived. It was a over cast morning, with pregnant clouds threatening rain. Liam awoke early, plagued by a nightmaric dream concerning Grace. He rose several times to check on her in her bedroom, but each time, she was safe and asleep.
Finally at 7 Stendar got up. He had packed the bags the night before and told Liam, most certainly, that they were leaving today. No words were spoken as they dressed, strapped on their weapons, and hefted their packs. Noises could be heard down stairs, and the smells of breakfast cooking.
"Grace is up. I'm going to say goodbye"
That is what the young man did. He left the room and plodded down the stairs, carrying his pack. "Grace!?" he called.
Katrianna McDaougan parked her car in front of her favorite monument, Stonehenge, she spent most of her time making sure that she knew every crevice on the surface of the gargantuan blue-stones that created the ruins of... who knew what? she walked to and stopped before the innermost arch that was still left standing and stared through it, imagining what it might have been for, what it could have been. She stared through the arch so long that she felt almost as though she could look strait through time and back on the events that might have taken place here. In her mind she saw crowds of people cramming into every inch of space available... it would have been beautiful. something suddenly clouded her vision and she saw before her the most beautiful being that she had ever seen, the woman - ghost - whatever it was before seemed to glow with a golden light and a slight breeze lifted the hem of her long golden gown and the ends of her waist length blonde hair.
~~~~~
Bmlihtian saw the dark haired young woman staring through the archway... this was her chance, finally! Someone who had enough imagination that she would be right for the task that needed to be done... now she only needed to ask her assistance and gather at least ten more to assist in this hard task. She seized the moment and placed herself before the girl.
"Come through." Bmlihtian's voice was whimsical and fraying at the ends... trailing away. "You have before you the chance... to enter into a whole different time...an almost different world."
"Wha - who are you?" Katiranna asked "Why me?"
Bmlihtian laughed lightly "Because you are the first I have seen that is right for the task." she extended her hand in welcome to Katrianna.
~~~~~
Katrianna didn't understand fully what was happening, she half expected this to be a dream, so what har could it do to follow the spirit? She extended her own hand and grasped the ghost's, passing through the now misted archway.
A fog-laden wind wrapped closely around the tall pillars of Stonehenge, wreathing them in a white robe. Justin Smith pulled out his camera and tripod when a spear of sunlight pierced through the mist, sending a stream of soft light through one of the stone arches. He quickly adjusted the lens to allow more clarity on the gorgeous shot and then snapped the picture; perfect. It was a delightful scene, one of those one-time photos that might possibly earn him his long-desired job at a well-paying photography company. He got a couple more good shots before carefully putting away his camera and tripod so that he could start looking around the monument. The pillars were made from huge slabs of blue-stone and arranged to form several layers surrounding a single center stone, the purpose of which was completely unknown. He stopped before one of the outer arches, preparing his camera for another picture. he snapped that one and then, looking up from his careful scrutinizing, was shocked to see a curtain-like haze draped across the open arch. The curtain appeared to be made of some unnatural substance, a mix of water and silk and a clear, rippling fog. Justin held his breath, chills tingling across his spine. He held up his camera for the picture that would change his life, but stopped when he felt a hand, or something, laid across his shoulder; he turned to look behind him.
