Vayond: The Shadowed hunters
"Grace." Liam called after her, coming up beside her. "I-I......" he lost words when he looked at her, and awkward silence ensued. Generally he wasn't at such a loss to say something. He usually found a witty phrase, or a fitting clause to speak in the situation, but for some reason she made him lose his thoughts.
He thought of how long he had known her. Only some weeks. But it felt like much longer, and he knew that she should know the truth about him. It could change everything, so he was hesitant to say it, but it was only fair. He began to touch one strand of her hair that was curled near her arm. "I want you to know something....."

Jack was strolling down the street in his usual manner. His face wore a cocky smile, and he stomped slightly to give the impression of being much tougher then he was. A couple of his friends (several other farm boys who lived close to Jack's Father's farm) were talking with him, and their subject was the usual.
"And one of these days I'm going to take her by surprise, I am! I'm going to go in there and sweep her of her feet! She'll have no choice but to be mine!" Jack said, telling his buddies about how he was going to take Grace to be his wife.
All the boys laughed and clapped him on the back, then dispersed, going to the tavern (across from the inn) to catch up with their Fathers. Jack gave a jerk of a wave goodbye, and strolled toward the inn. He was walking past a small stand of bushes, that separated the street from the small patch of grass behind the in, when he heard voices. Stopping short, and listening, he thought he recognized one as the voice of Grace. He stood on his tippy-toes, and peered over the leaves and branches. The sight he beheld caused his blood to bowl. How dare she do this!! She's mine!! he though, upon seeing Grace and Liam together. That guy.....he must be one of those guys that belongs to those horses....NO WONDER SHE WOULDN"T TELL ME ABOUT THOSE HORSES!! Of course! They were his! All these weeks I stopped bugging her...and now look! She betrays me! I'll get you Grace... he growled.

When Liam began to talk Grace turned her head to look at him. When he touched her hair she stopped walking and looked him straight in the eyes "Go ahead." She replied, softly, and almost shyly.

"Liam!" Stendar's voice came from the back-door of the inn, "The costumers will probably be coming in soon. You had better come upstairs"
Liam nodded, then looked back at Grace for a moment, before walking away.

Jack was angry. Terribly angry. Angry at Grace, angry at the guy. He never thought he'd have an competition for Grace, but now he realized he was wrong.

A wave of relief swept over Edmund. "Thankyou. Well, I don't know if you want to be my sservant. For I am of high maintenence."
Brendlyn tried to hide a smile. "With all due respect, my lord, that was not the sort of servant I meant. I plan to serve you as a Guide, since I know this realm and you do not. And I serve not only you, but all of your people." She bowed.

Edmund saw that she was trying to hide a smile. Still, he was not going to press her just yet. "Could you guide us on how to destroy the Hunters?"

Grace's eyes softened, but only a little bit. She crossed her arms and began walking with Ace to the entrance of the MESS medical building. "I can see that you don't get along. Thank-you for you apology."
She walked in silence for a little bit, and then spoke up again. "What made you so angry with him?"

Edmund saw that she was trying to hide a smile. Still, he was not going to press her just yet. "Could you guide us on how to destroy the Hunters?"
Brendlyn smiled, but didn't hide it. This time, it wasn't a smile of amusement. "Nothing would please me more than to do just that. All my life, I have dreamed of destroying the Hunters..." Her voice trailed off as a sparkle came into her eyes -- a sparkle of both energy and vengeance. "They have destroyed too many of the innocent to be allowed to live." A sigh escaped her. "But I'm afraid other things must be dealt with first. Survival is the task at hand. We must ensure that they do not destroy us, before we can attempt to destroy them."

Edmund put a hand on his sword. "Well, I got an idea for survival. The minute they slip up and we see them," He pulled it out. "The moment we strike!"

"I see..." Brendlyn replied. Her gaze lowered instantly. "Well, that's very brave of you, it's true... It was the same move my parents made, actually... the instant before they died."

He put his sword back in his sheath. "Tis a noble death I would die. For I shall not die any other way."

Brendlyn answered, "To me, it would be noble to die a death that helps. And if you are the warrior you claim to be, it would be much more noble for you to live, and be protection to the weaker, instead of wasting your life on one death-or-glory charge." She bowed.

Edmund was rendered speechless. "Excuse my rashness, M'lady. How doeth I protect the weak and broken from the villianous Hunters?"

"Well, I cannot speak for you," Brendlyn told him, "as we all must learn things differently, and each of us has a different purpose. But it has been of great value to me to learn patience, calmness, and tact. To know when to act and when to wait or stand back. In order to defeat any villain, you must learn strategy, to recoginize when the opportune moment has arrived and when it has not. Otherwise, you make merely a sacrifice of yourself -- a sacrifice for no cause. But when the exact time arrives, it can lead you to victory, if only you are willing to wait for it."

Isla bowed her head slightly. "I think you will find it necessary in the future."
She situated her pack and then looked at Falcon. "Shall we depart? Our supplies will not buy itself."

Micah's brow furrowed as he wondered how Isla could possibly pretend to know what he would need 'in the future'. Curious, he opened the pouch slightly and saw a small emerald and pewter ring inside. He looked at Isla bemusedly, thinking once again that she was quite insane. "Alright... thank you."
Micah stepped past Traveler and left the eatery, walking out into the dusty cobblestone road. Some clouds had rolled in, hiding the sun and making everything look exceptionally grey and dull. Hope it doesn't rain again, he thought to himself as he started the long walk back toward the hideout.
