Warwick Davis - Nikabrik - and BBC characters

Warwick played Nikabrik in Walden Media's Prince Caspian (2008).  Before that he played Reepicheep in BBC's Prince Caspian & Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and Glimfeather the owl in BBC's The Silver Chair.

Warwick is a well-known British actor who featured in Star Wars and Harry Potter, starred in Willow, and is the presenter of a UK TV quiz show.

Today the sad news was released to the media that Warwick's wife Samantha (Sammy) had died in March (their family and close friends have had time to grieve privately).

Sammy founded the group Little People UK (United Kingdom) 12 years ago, and has been a major force for welcoming and encouraging members of all ages. She was a special friend to parents of young children with dwarfism, and in my three meetings with her I saw a woman who always had time and a smile for other people. I had the pleasure of meeting Sammy and Warwick in 2018 and 2019. This photo was 2018.

Sammy and Warwick have two adult children, both involved in acting. They are Annabelle (particularly known on TV dramas, and in the Disney series of Willow, playing Willow's now-adult daughter) and Harrison. Sammy also leaves behind her sister and their elderly dad (both stage actors).

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

So sorry to hear this sad news, Coracle — thank you for letting us know. RIP Sammy.

I'm sorry to hear about Warwick Davis's wife. RIP Sammy.

Very sad. But have set up a fund for helping younger children, called Sammy's Helping Hands. (I think that's it) to carry on her special interests

Just to add to this thread, it's been announced today that Warwick Davis has been awarded the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' highest honour: Warwick Davis to receive prestigious Bafta Fellowship

The article gives a fair bit of detail about his career and his campaigning for actors with dwarfism, and also mentions the death of his wife Samantha last year. A bit annoyingly for us Narnia fans, however, just about the one thing it doesn't mention is his roles in both the BBC Narnia series of the late 1980s / early '90s and the Walden film of Prince Caspian — perhaps surprisingly, considering this article is from the BBC's news website. I hope this doesn't suggest that the old Narnia series is something the folks at the Beeb today would prefer to forget they ever did... Eyebrow

Regardless, though, that's a wonderful and well-deserved recognition for Mr Davis! Applause

It's a well deserved honour for Warwick, who has encouraged and helped many young people and families find their feet in not only the entertainment world but just ordinary life. The two times I met him, I saw him as a pleasant and gracious person, with a nice sense of humour.

Edit:  I might be able to send him a message of congratulations from Narniawebbers.
