Meanwhile, here in north-western Victoria, it's been around mid-30s degrees Celsius most days for the last few weeks, we had a cool couple of days last week I think after a hot spell, but no rain to speak of for a long while and its getting more and more obvious how much the rain is needed. Apparently we're getting some tomorrow and next weekend.
Glad you're enjoying nice weather, @courtenay!
Meanwhile, hopefully you don't have any major trouble with those storms @coracle.
*~JESUS is my REASON!~*
@pete Yeah, I spoke too soon about the unusually mild weather... it's been well into the 30s in Melbourne today, still stiflingly warm outside at nearly 9.30 pm, and I'm just so glad I have air conditioning where I'm staying!!
It's supposed to be hot tomorrow too, but it should rain later and that will bring the temperatures down again for (hopefully) a few more days. I can cope with this — I did every year for the first three decades of my life — but I really don't miss it and I would genuinely rather have the cold weather in Britain, nice though it is to be back in Australia.

Enjoy your trip to Australia, @courtenay! Sounds mighty warm there, though, especially as we are still in winter here.
Or are we? 😉 The TV weather guys called this past weekend "false spring number 1" as we had record highs tied or broken Friday and Saturday (around 11C/52F). Today is similarly warm but not record-setting. Most of our snow has melted, though some is predicted for later this week.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Here we have quite the weather day: everything from freezing rain to ice pellets to straight-on rain to snow. The radar is extremely colourful—pink, purple, blue, green, with a small section of the Niagara Peninsula on the northern shore of Lake Erie in orange and red.
Unfortunately, due to the icy roads, a school bus slid right into a ditch with a full load of students earlier this morning, quite near to our village. It could have been much worse, but thankfully only four students had minor injuries. They were transported to the hospital to ensure they were okay, then discharged.
We have more rain arriving on Friday, then changing back to snow for the weekend.
Up and down, up and down. This is kind of typical for the latter half of February in SW Ontario.
There is a lot of snow to melt here, so hopefully this will occur gradually over time. On the other hand, more of the white stuff will no doubt arrive before snow season wraps up in a couple of months. Let's hope, anyway!
EDIT Wed evening: it is now raining ice, along with a superb thunder and lightning show!

And in my city summer is back, after the storm. Yesterday afternoon I drove on at least one road that had been closed due to flooding the previous day, and all was well. It was sunny and warm. I line-dried a load of laundry, and even my mowing man came and made my lawns beautiful, as they were dry again!
The next two days are going to get very warm.
There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

Glad to hear the flooding has eased, coracle!
We had yet another snowfall last night, after a few smaller ones over the course of the past week. If the roads or lawns are tempted to show themselves, the ongoing snow will not let them do so, ha. In fact, I just heard that the first couple of months of our spring (officially beginning March 20) are to be unusually cool and wet, with rain and snow. Sounds good to me! Keep the hot, humid, glaring summer weather at bay as long as possible.
I was out shoveling after my walk this morning, then saw my neighbour-friend out (a widow lady) a few doors down, as well. Went over to help her, and after shoveling her driveway, we ended up chatting outside for nearly an hour. Everything was so beautiful—the trees laden with snow, the white landscapes all around, and the temperature sitting at a very comfortable -5C / 23F.
Most nights are still quite cold here (in the negative mid-teens / 5F), but Friday and Saturday's daytime temp will be surprisingly around +6C / 43F, which should start the melt process. However, then dropping low/cold again on Sunday and Monday—more snow on Sunday
, then flurries on Monday— which should halt the melting, keeping countryside white.
We are loving this "winter-that-never-ends", as it has been dubbed.

@jo However, then dropping low on Sunday and Monday—more snow on Sunday
But since you posted only today, it will be March 1st on Sunday. St David's Day, to be exact, and from now on the weather will be cooler as autumn progresses. That is to say, warmer for Canadians. We've had a spot of rainy weather, but it seems we are due for an El Niño weather event this year, which changes the story a little.
@coracle The next two days are going to get very warm.
That sounds exactly like last week, here. However, Sunday is the first day of Autumn, or "Bangkerreng" - knock 'em down month, when the wet season transitions to the dry season in the North of Australia.
It's the second to last day of summer in NZ, and I am wearing two layers of woolly jerseys inside my house. The temperature was 11 outside, and 16 inside. Yes, I added fingerless gloves/mitts which I often use for my cold hands, and this morning a woollen hat to try to keep warm. Autumn is almost here, and I need to do more exercise to improve my circulation.

The last few days of summer here in northwestern Victoria have been warm and humid. Around the low 30s Celsius. Sunday and Tuesday of this week we had some much-needed rain and this evening we've had some pretty big storms with rain and impressive lightning shows (the power even briefly went out here). Over the weekend and into early next week here, we are forecast to get some pretty significant rainfalls - along with the rainfalls there are warnings of minor flooding, in the area over Sunday and Monday. This rainfall which is coming is certainly needed, but perhaps spread out over some days or weeks rather than the big downpour which is forecast.

Here in the northern US, it's the typical ups-and-downs of late winter, though maybe a little more active than usual. The high today is around 50F/10C, with the sun shining and some snow melting.
The bottom drops out again tonight, with high winds and cold air bringing snow tomorrow.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Over the weekend and into early next week here, we are forecast to get some pretty significant rainfalls
Did those come to fruition, Pete? Hopefully in moderation, though, rather than large downpours.
Beginning on Saturday through mid next week, our temperatures are to rise above average for this time of year, bringing a fair bit of rain and even thunderstorms, which will surely melt a lot snow. What a winter we have had. One of the best!
After this warmer spell (meaning 10-15C / 50-60F), we will drop colder again, with a fair bit more snow (according to the long-range forecast) over the latter half of March.

Enjoy the snow, @jo! Our season-to-date snowfall is a little below average, but with current warm weather there is very little left on the ground. With highs expected to be around 60F/16C later this week, Friday's precipitation will be rain with possible thunderstorms rather than any of the white stuff.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Yes @jo, the rainfall certainly came over the weekend. There was plenty of it. In some areas it caused issues and flash flooding. Where I live however, it was a significant rainfall and there were minor flood warnings but no major issues. Apparently more rain is due mid-late next week!

We knew it would happen, but wow! After a cold rain storm for 3 days with my heating on, suddenly it's 27.2 degrees C. The next few days will be similar. This is the start of autumn which always varies a lot.
On Tuesday here I'm off to South Carolina for 12 days. My ideas of suitable clothes keep changing, and I haven't got a packing list yet

We do get tornadoes here in western Michigan occasionally. This one which occurred today took four lives and it was only about 75 miles from where I live:
Sadly enough, even with all the technology and better weather prediction all of the tragedies cannot be prevented. 🙁
