I've always found this line from The Magician's Nephew interesting:
When the Lion had first begun singing, long ago when it was still quite dark, he had realised that the noise was a song. And he had disliked the song very much. It made him think and feel things he did not want to think and feel.
I've assumed this was sort of a reference to how some people run away from God. I do wonder what sort of feelings specifically Andrew had.
It is an interesting moment!
There was too much joy in the song, of the wonder and goodness of bringing new life into a world. All too much for ol' Uncle Andrew to allow himself to experience; he was just too much in his own mind, full of selfishness and greed to his own needs. It illustrates well The sad situation of those people that grow so careless of others, that they forget to appreciate or turn their back on the good in life.
