ceppault: That dog is so cute. My neighbors dog is same and has three puppies that love to come up my lawn every time I am outside. They are so adorable.
Eustace+Jill: Abby is so adorable! I used to have a guinea pig.
Jeffery is pretty. I love the light blue on him. Gorgeous bird!

My mom ordered a cat tree for our cats. We were going to build one but my dad was dragging his feet about helping us build one (all we wanted him to do was get the materials ). The tree we ended up getting was actually very close to the one I designed. Myst and Shad aren't as interested in it as I had hoped the would be.
My mom says it will just take a little time. Blitzen loves it.
Here is a picture of Blitz "helping" my mom and me put it together:
Here is Blitzen in the house after it is put together:
Here is Mystery checking it out. (I think I put her on it).
Blitz has figured out how to got up and down the ladder (it took her a while). One time she went through the ladder to get up. My mom said it was a tight squeeze. She and Mystery are both enjoying all of the scratching posts. There other scratching post looks furry / hairy because it has been used so much. Mystery sort of climbed the ladder (I put her on it and she did it to escape. I know I should let them do things at their own time but I'm impatient.
I'm going to be moving out around the end of the month, so I will be getting a cat of my own. I want to be able to name the cat myself but all of the cats I have seen come with names. Does anyone have experience renaming an animal? Will it learn a new name?

Aww what cute cats!
We got something kind of like that for our cats, but they never used it, haha. Has that ever hapenned to you? Did your cats use it on their own, or did you have to introduce it to them?

Eustace+Jill you have such cute pets your bird Jeffrey is almost the same color as my Robin, a bit lighter though
Pattertwigs Pal those are great pictures, I love the one with Mystery. I don't know much about animals and names, so I can't help much with that. When we had kittens we would give them names but then we would give them away and the people who would take them would give them new names, but then maybe when they are babies they don't remember their names
My turtles returned home today after spending a few weeks with me grandma while I was on vacation, goodness they've grown, especially Bart. My babies are growing up . I'm going to have to get a new tank soon as the old one is getting a to be a bit to small. And I'll have to get a new filter too, sighs, I almost wish they would stay small. Sophie is growing too, she's shed her baby feathers so I guess I can consider her an adult
, although she sure doesn't behave like one
Oh and here's a great joke, my Sophie might be a boy, I've noticed that her nose is a bit blue, I'm going to take her to a vet to find out. It would be such a comedy if she turned out to be a he, we already had that once with our Alan. In the store they told me she was a girl but with her nose becoming a very light blue I am having my doubts.

Bitzen explored the pieces as we were putting it together. We put some catnip on it to help a little. I also put some catnip toys and other favorite toys on it to make it more interesting. We also used some toys to lead them to it. Shadow "helped" me rub the scratching posts with catnip. Actually, she tried to stick her head in the catnip container and rubbed the lid. My mom added some more catnip to try to get Shadow interested but Shadow followed her when she went to put the catnip container away.
Then, she rolled on some of the catnip I spilled on the floor. We also put them on various levels of it. The place we have it isn't a place Myst and Shad often go so that could have something to do with it. Mystery has learned that it has nice scratching posts so she in there more. When the cats move (they are going to go to my parents new house before my mom does), it will go with them so it will be something familiar for them and hopefully in a better location.
Thanks for answering my question, wild rose (even if you aren't sure). I suppose I it doesn't matter what I call the cat, it probably won't come when I call anyway, since most cats don't like to come on command.

@Patterwig's Pal: We bhaven't renamed any animals, but Patchy has a ton of nicknames(He's known by Patchy, Patch, Rabbit, Bugs, and Bugsy among others) and he responds to almost all of them, just keep using it when refering to him/her and eventually your cat will learn that that's its new name.
Well my animals seem to have been causing me lots of worries. If you've been keeping an eye on the prayer requests threads you'll probably know that my rabbit has been quite ill for some time. Thankfully, he seems to be getting better.
Also Daisy nearly escaped last week after knocking off part of her cage, Luckily I heard her and got in the room before she got out.
Oh I hope that's the end of the "bad luck with pets times" for a while

We've had so much smoke here, I hope it won't effect the birds. Our room is one of the smokyest so we've moved them to the little storage room where there is less smoke. The two of them feel very insecure and don't chirp half as much as they usually do, only if one if us is in the room with them. (Lucky for them we (De_De, Narnian_Archer and I) spent half the day there today because our mom ordered us out of our room because of all the smoke that was there.)
I've also partly covered the cage with a thin wet cloth to help keep the smoke out and spray the cage with water from time to time
My turtles are the luckiest, they live in the water most of the time and aren't affected by the smoke, for which I am glad, as I've got my hands ful with the birds
I'm glad Patchy is getting better wolfloversk, hope he will be better in no time

I'm so mad I just had to post here and vent. I called a place where I'm going to be living about a cat I'm interested in adopting. The person gave my the background on this cat. She is a purebred Siamese and she came to this rescue organization because when her owner died, his/her family didn't think they could get any money for her because she had a limp so the took her to a vet to be put down!
Luckily, the vet contacted this rescue agency and they took her.
The person I talked to said they had a specialist examine her and the limp was just a result of birth and nothing serious. I'm sure there are any number of people who would have paid them for that cat even with a limp. Although come to think of it, I'm glad they won't be seeing a penny of the adoption fee. They don't deserve it.
Here is the description of her:
Here's my brief personal ad:
I am a talkative 3 year young petite lady and I am looking for my very own human family. I'm independent but like human companionship; love to play, am sweet and would prefer to have a home all to myself - of course with human servant(s) and companion(s).
This isn't too much to ask, right? After all, I am a beautiful Applehead Siamese lady.
(I absolutely love the way this place writes up their ads.) Can you imagine someone wanting to put a cat like that to sleep? People are so cruel. I really hope I get this cat. I don't care a bit if she limps.
From the description on the website and what the woman said she sounds like a good cat for me. I really hope I get her.

She sounds like a lovely cat! It's hard to believe that there are people that would rather have money than a pet. Don't even get me started!
It would be wonderful if you could get her, but at least no matter where she goes, she's going to get a good home!
I am moving and in order to rent anyplace I'm going to have to find a new home for my precious Vala. No place will take a 65 pound dog, even though she's more well behaved and trained than my 11 pound dog! This is breaking my heart, but she loves kids and we have several no-kill shelters here, so I know she will get a good home. At least I don't have to get rid of all my animals!
Love God, love people
I know how you feel, we had to give our cat away to my grandma when my sister's allergy got really bad. The three of us younger girls literaly broke down into tears when we gave her away. But she had a great life with my grandma and became good friends with my grandma's dog. Still it was tough to give her away
We had an adventure with my turtles today. Something is up with my filter and it doesn't work properly all the time. My tank is also getting quite small for my growing turtles. I was away visiting my friend and when I came home my dad said that the water in the tank had gotten all mucky and smelly and that he had taken the turtles out to change the water. He put the turtles in a small box and had just finished washing the tank when the water got cut (happens here from time to time) so he had to wait till the water came back so he could refill the tank. By this time I had come home and my dad told me the turtles were in the box. Right They had both somehow gotten out of the box and were no where in sight. My dad and I started playing hide and seek with the turtles. They generally hide in dark places so we looked in all the dark corners of the room. At last we found Bart under my desk and Fed under the bed. We put them in a larger box and then the water came back, but my dad said that since I was home I could finish with the tank
. I really need to get them a bigger one, it's really funny seeing them trying to swim past the glass walls of the tank, although at the same time it's kinda pathetic. Mom says when they get too big we'll give them to the zoo.
The question is 'how big is too big '
always be humble and kind
That's too funny about the turtles getting out!
How big are they going to get? I've desert tortoises that are huge (at zoos), but I was thinking you had those kind that don't get really big. (The ones I've seen at the pet stores that get no bigger than like 6-8 inches across.)
Love God, love people
to tell you the truth I'm not sure of the exact size that they are going to be, but I heard the red eared sliders (the kind of turtles that I have) get to be around 10-12 inches, De_De and I saw one in a pond once and it was huge, my mom was horrified when she found out how big they get to be. I'm supposing we'll give them away soon as it seems we don't have money for a bigger tank (they're expensive) + all the stuff that comes with it, (filter, large rock or something of the sort for the turtles to sun themselves)
I hope that we'll just give one away and keep the other
always be humble and kind
It's hard to have to give away one of your pets. And I know how expensive they can be! I can't believe how much I spend on my pets!
