So, here we can discuss all the places we've been--and most importantly, the place we want to go. :D

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
Paris. I am a major Francophile (altho I don't really understand the language *cough*) and just love the whole idea of Paris :D

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?
Hmm...*thinks* I guess France, because while they don't speak English at least I have a veryvery minor idea of the language, plus as I already said, I'm obsessed with it. If I was there for a year tho, I wouldn't want to stay in Paris though, I'd want to be in a slightly quieter area (although close to Paris!)

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way? *thinks* I'd start off in Ireland, then go to Venice, then to Zanzibar, the to someplace like...Tibet?

What places have you been?
Eh. Nowhere much :P In Canada I've been to Ontario (which I live in :P) and Quebec, in the States I've been in Buffalo, Maine, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit?Hmm...the UK, all over Europe, then Russia, Kenya, Zanzibar, Japan, Egypt, Greece, Peru, Australia, and New Zealand (I think that's all :P)
Besides NYC, I don't really want to go anywhere in the States just for the sake of going there. There are many States I'd like to go to though to meet NWebbers :D

These are fun questions!

My top place to visit is definitely the UK--probably specifically London, Oxford, Scotland, and any and all of the places of historical and literary significance. I've been to London, Oxford, and Northern Wales, but I loved it and I would love to go again. I'm an unabashed Anglophile and I love embracing my cultural roots and embracing British culture. My area of study, English Literature, drives me to want to understand the places these people came from better.

I've been to a lot of the Western American states: California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and Nevada. I've also been to British Columbia, Kansas, New Hampshire, New York City, St. Louis (MO), Mexico, and then parts of England, Wales, and Paris. I didn't enjoy Paris as much as I would have liked. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but it was difficult traveling with my grandparents who are stereotypical terrible American tourists. 8-| It was still amazing to get to be in a place with that much cultural, historical, literary, and artistic significance. It's beautiful.

Val: I might be biased, but California is well worth visiting. San Francisco is not one of the greatest cities in the world for no reason. It's a beautiful combination of western American culture with the whole rest of the world. Its relationship with the Pacific Ocean makes it truly unique. Also, Yosemite, Disneyland, and some of my favorite Californian haunts (Sonoma wine country, Central coast beaches and hills, Lake Tahoe) are part of what makes California my favorite place in the world. I never want to leave here. :)

If I had to leave California, I would either want to live in the forests of Oregon or move to Vancouver, BC. I got to live there for a few months as a young teen and it's a wonderful city. Stanley Park, the UBC campus, and the incredible bay are all so wonderful.

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
London, or any place in England. Like Kate, I am an unashamed Anglophile, and as such, was very happy to learn that I have over three quarters British blood in me. :) It would be fun to visit certain places in England- such as the place where my ancestors come from, and also to see the town over there, where they came from, that shares the same last name as myself. It would be fun to visit "long lost" relatives and cousins, I think. :)

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?
Britain or Bavaria, but definitely the first.

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way?
Hrm, not sure. I think I'd follow the route that they took in Around the World in 80 Days (the David Niven version of the story, at least).

What places have you been?
Of the Provinces I've been to Quebec (before I was born, does that count? ;)) ), Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. Of the States I've been to New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio (good State that is! ;)) ), Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Michigan, I believe. :)

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit?
New York City would definitely be fun. There's a strange sort of attraction to it that makes me really want to see it. Plus I love big cities, (especially the skylines at night), so I'd like to see it just because. :)

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
Can I say Europe? You know, England, France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Scotland, Poland, Czechoslovakia -anywhere there's castles and countryside, historic sites and a mix of cultures (and good shopping, let's be honest).

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?

Probably England. Because it's easier for Aussies to work there, so I've heard, because our qualifications pass over there quite similarly or something. I have a few nursing and nannying friends who have lived there for a year and loved it. Also, anyone who's ever read a book about anything probably wants to go to England -it's where all the action happens! Plus, on a purely lazy note, they can all speak English ;)) and I have a good friend willing to put me up there (in London, London!!!) I'm very excited.

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way?

Oh wow. The Greek Isles is a must; they look amazing. Also China, Tibet, Nepal, the whole of Europe would be nice, Damascus (camels!), Syria, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco (the turban wearing!), Turkey (the coffee, the culture!), Russia, Canada (I want to see the lakes, and visit Jo), California, Montana (for a good friend and some snow!!), San Francisco (Full House, anyone?), NYC (Broadway!? or is that in Hollywood?), Texas (I want to go to a county fair and eat a deep fried mars bar!), Milan, Venice (beautiful masks!), Rome (the columns, the columns!), Cyprus, Zimbabwe, Chile (the dancing!).....ok now that's enough this is getting ridiculous. Edit: Oh I forgot Spain and Portugal! Gothic churches, yes please! I suppose I don't really have a hankering for India, tropical isles, Indonesia, or most of South America....yet.

What places have you been?
Within Australia I've been to Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Canberra (Sydney). I should really get out and see the west coast, central Australia (for the big rock, really) and Tasmania (for the...sheep?).

I've also been to Vanuatu (a group of 80 or so tropical islands -which was nice, but the people are more endearing than the tropicalness for me). I've also been to South Africa (love it, want to go back for the World Cup; if you have free tickets just PM me) twice and Mozambique. Africa is amazing and I want to go back and explore more of it!

All the countries I've been to (ok, so like 3!) I've done backpacker/missionary style....and it's possibly the funnest and best way to see a country and really meet its people (although if I had to go back and travel in first class hotels I wouldn't refuse -gheckos and all manner of toilets aside) ;))

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit? Maybe some more of America so I can visit a few NWebbers too. :D

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
Probably New Zealand. I'd love to see all the landscapes and go on an expedition to find the extinct giant moa.

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?
New Zealand. From everything I've read/watched and heard it seems like a great place to live. It's also not too different to Australia, so I could live there for a year.

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way?
I'd love to visit Canada, then onto Hawaii (LOST!) then New Zealand, onto the UK, Belgium and France, then Egypt and back to Australia.

What places have you been?
All of the Australian states, excluding Tasmania and the Northern Territory. I've stopped off at Kuala Lumpur on the way to Japan on a mission-trip. That's all for international destinations - Kuala Lumpur and Japan (you couldn't get more different cultures if you tried).

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit? Ayers Rock/Uluru.
I can't think of any others but it would be great to meet with other NarniaWebbers (and other online friends) from around the world.

Great idea for a thread, Val!

Taking World Geography this year has expanded my knowledge of countries by a great deal, so I can answer these nicely. ;))

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
Ooh, this is difficult. Definitely something from Western Europe. It's hard to pick between Wales, Iceland, and Switzerland. (The latter wins quite alot, though.)

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?
Iceland, Wales, or Ireland. Maybe somewhere where it's not so commercial but mostly country and things like that. The Netherlands is right up my lane.

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way? Well, around-the-world does include everywhere so I'd have to say mostly everywhere. ;)

What places have you been?
Well, I was born in Nairobi, Kenya so there's one place that counts. We went to England, India, Dubai, Amsterdam for out-of-country places. I don't really remember these (apart from Kenya) because they were when I was very young, but the one I do remember is eating McDonalds at a Holland Airport while on the way here a long time ago. And then there's a couple states. (Wisconsin being the most-visited.) From all the states, I've been to (these are some, as I can't remember all) Florida, PA, NY, NJ, Connecticut, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky. (Mostly the midwestern and eastern ones, but not the majority...)

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit?
Ooh...where do I start?! These are just a few, but there are a lot more. Every where in Western Europe from Finland, to Denmark, to Spain, to Italy, to Greece, to France, to Germany. Then the little island (ach, forgot the name) that has Scotland, England and Wales on it. Really, there's no place in Western Europe I don't want to go to so, all of Western Europe. Egypt, a couple countries in Eastern Europe, China, South Korea, Japan, Russia, a couple countries in Southeastern Asia, Canada (British Columbia and P.E.I. & Quebec, to see Narniawebbers.) The North Pole seems quite nice. (Well, Greenland and Iceland seem to be something I could visit without being too cold. :P ) I'd really like to visit Colosse, Ephesus, and places like that. Oh, and go to the Sahara and other places in Africa! :D I'd better stop before this gets a mile long, but I'd love to have an around-the-world trip stopping nearly everywhere. :)
Then there's a whole lot of other states I'd like to visit for historical purposes and to meet Narniawebbers.

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
The Holy Land.

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?
British Isles, and I'd make it a point to see them all in that year.

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way?
Rain forests, rivers, waterfalls, historic monuments, climb every mountain because its there...

What places have you been?
I've been to most the states on the west side of the United states (continental) and Mexico for a mission trip.

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit?
Dublin specifically, Oxford University, and the Smithsonian.

What is your top place to visit, hands down?

St. Croix, US Virgin Islands :D

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?

Israel

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way?

If I were headed in an general easterly direction I'd want to hit London, England, then Frankfurt, Germany. From there south towards Gibraltar, then South Africa, then northeast to Nairobi, Kenya. I wouldn't mind hitting Russia and China along the way, then Japan and south on down to Australia. From there to Antarctica (I mean, how many people really get to go there? Wouldn't that be cool (no pun intended?) and then to some of the South Sea islands like Tahiti, Samoa, Guam, Midway Island, with a layover at Pitcairn's Island, then Alaska, and then back home. :)

What places have you been?

Courtesy of the USAF:

- Cuba
- Frankfurt, Germany
- Kuwait
- Nairobi, Kenya (Kenya has the nicest people on planet Earth)
- Mombassa, Kenya
- Honduras
- Panama
- Peru
- Antigua
- St. Croix (twice! woot!)
- Hawaii
- Cameroon
- Gabon
- the Azores (lovely, lovely island)
- Ascension Island
- Spain (twice)
- Puerto Rico

This excludes the numerous states I was sent to during the course of my travels. I was eligible for but missed out on several trips overseas including Egypt, England, Russia, St. John (US Virgin Islands), Barbados, and Okinawa. :(

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit?

Well, I'd love to go to the Moon. Does this count? ;)) I also wouldn't mind hitting up Mars and the moons of Saturn too (Jupiter is just too radioactive for a stay longer than 5 minutes).

If it has to be terrestrial then I'd love to live in Wyoming someday in or near Jackson Hole, with a 2 month summer home in the Outer Banks here in NC. :)

I have to admit I've always wanted to do three things travel-wise in my life, and I know I never will on this Earth (although hopefully I can on the next). The first is to travel the exact route used by the Lewis & Clark Expedition, all on foot, horse, or by boat. The second would be to travel the entire length of the Great Wall of China on foot. The last would be to sail the course of the HMS Bounty from London to Tahiti, and then on to Pitcairn's Island. :D

Sorry, way overlong post ;)) You know me! ;)

Whoa, that's quite an impressive list you've got there, SL!

Shadowlander: The last would be to sail the course of the HMS Bounty from London to Tahiti...

Ha, I've always wanted to do this as well! In fact, Tahiti is probably the only tropical island I would love to visit and thanks to HMS Bounty I've always wanted to sample some breadfruit there. Like you said, maybe in the next life. ;)

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
well, I've never been there, but the UK. I'm half British (a mixture of Scottish and Irish) and it looks like such a lovely place. It would be very interesting to follow history through those lands too. So much took place there, so many historic happenings and people...*happy sigh* oh I would love to go

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?
London :D

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way?
I'd probably go where the kids go in the 39 Clues series. They start in Boston, then Philadelphia, then go to Paris, then go to Austria, Venice, Tokyo, South Korea, Egypt, Russia, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, China, Jamaica, and maybe two more. The series isn't done yet but, yeah, they go to alot of places :p .

What places have you been?
A few places in Canada and these states- California, Maine, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Maryland, New York, Washington DC, Vermont, Massachusettes, Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and I live in New Hampshire. I've only been out of the United States and Canada once and that was when I went to Nicaragua. I'm half Nicaraguan so we were visiting my mom's family down there. I've only been once, and I was 7 years old. I still remember that trip very well though. There was such incredible beauty and such horrible ugliness there. The poverty still comes to me in nightmares. But I won't dwell on the negative. It's people are just so kind and welcoming and the culture is very nice. The food is good too, but I know that from my mom's cooking not just visiting there ;)) .

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit?
um, well I pretty much mentioned everything... :p

W4J, Nicaragua is in Central America. I need to brush up on my geography too, I think. I used to remember all the the various countries and their capitals and time (and non-use) has wrenched them right out of my noggin. ;))

Ha, I've always wanted to do this as well! In fact, Tahiti is probably the only tropical island I would love to visit and thanks to HMS Bounty I've always wanted to sample some breadfruit there. Like you said, maybe in the next life.

I don't know if you've ever read it before but you should check out Nordoff & Hall's Bounty Trilogy. High adventure and lots of South Seas locales and people. I have yearned to sail from London to Tahiti to Pitcairn ever since I read the book and any ship with sails would do, but in my heart I'd rather go on this one...

That's the Bounty II, which is supposed to be a decent replica of the original, which is now sitting at the bottom of Bounty Bay at Pitcairn. I'm a little confused why there's a US flag on her as opposed to a Union Jack...she's berthed in Florida, but still...it's the Bounty. She should have her original colors. Also, she's for sale. Thumb wrestle you for it! ;)) And like you I'm kinda curious what breadfruit tastes like...

W4J: yes like Shadowlander said, it's in Central America. It's not very well known, so actually, you not knowing where it was is normal. Most people have no idea what I'm talking about when I say I'm h alf Nicaraguan ;)) .

What is your top place to visit, hands down?
Tie between Scandinavia and Israel. I am fascinated by Scandinavia. And the reason for Israel has to do with the reason for this site.

If you could live in one place/country for a year, where would it be?
Maybe Barcelona, since it is a big city near the sea and I have been there and liked it.

If you were planning an around-the-world trip, where would you stop along the way? Places in Europe I have not been to, Israel, Petra in Jordan, India, Australia, New Zealand, and places in the Americas I have not been to. And Hawaii- but does it count since I do live in the USA?

What places have you been?
43 states and a territory, several European countries, Bahamas, Mexico, and Belize.

What are all the other places not mentioned above that you would like to visit? Greece, Ireland, Costa Rica, Argentina...
